  1. The market now has doubled what it was just 6 years ago.

Then, a working system with 1 nice controller was $175.

    Now it's $350 for a working system w/nice controller.

(boxed controllers were $100 then, now loose controllers may go for $100.)

    Yikes!

Glad I got my systems when I did (1999-2000)

    #1 System +12 games (4-5 boxed) - $125.

#2 (from the same place) System + 12 games (4-5 boxed) - got some dup games in this one but also got a Polar Rescue w/overlay.

  2. JEFF31: I find the opening of your second paragraph of your response to be disingenuous in light of the posts liked in this thread.

Nonetheless, I understand the position of the developers and publishers in this thread, and respectfully apologize for stirring the pot.

I will still try to acquire the cartridges I can, and I guess I will need to build a dumping solution, as I do not have a ColecoVision, so that I can copy the cartridges into a form that my smart home platform can read.

    1. not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does.

Sorry you feel that way - but it is my 'candid / sincere' opinion - you have yours - case closed.

Good luck finding the games - as I hope to find the ones I'm missing also.

  3. Over the years I've wanted to purchase ALL of the games made available by the publishers, but circumstances have made that impossible for me. Would a ROM release be good for me - sure (would rather have a cart - NOT BOXED - CHEAPER :-) ) - but I've don't recall asking for one.

I'm not siding with the publisher/programmer or the requester of the ROM, but the former have a right to say no - period (wish they wouldn't on some games...). I look for games I don't have on EBAY / here (at a reasonable price) - still looking for several of them.

  4. Not in the tournament (just don't have the time working 6/7 days a week!) but holy crap - my best score for this is 10,763 and NCG (and a bunch of others) usually leave me in the dust!

Just curious... these are my best (from around 84-88 time frame... has anyone done better?

Sorry didn't mean to derail the tournament game thread...

  5. I've been following this thread since it began and well... didn't 'know' / 'been thinking of' how to respond.

'back into' - Well I've never left since I got my Coleco back in 1983(?) (I thought I was 'strange' collecting for an older system).

Then 'EBAY' started getting bigger / I discovered OPCODE / Digital Press etc. around 1998-2002

Fast forward - Collectorvision / Team Pixelboy / other independent publishers

Cool at first - but lately - they are making me broke with all of the releases - sorta like 83 when I could not afford ALL of the games.

Back in 98 I bought a collection off EBAY - 96 games (38 that I did not have) / Console / etc for $500 - The wife thought I was INSANE - but later I learned that a boxed (complete) WIZ MATH was valued at $800!!!! Also in that collection was a boxed Jungle Hunt. Later I sent the box to a collector in Florida for a couple of games and some dough...

Poo - although I do not collect boxes (see other threads) - I WISH I HAD NOT DONE THIS DEAL!! LOL - Oh Well (JFC - it's a friggin box!!!!)

    Ah well my story (briefly)...

    Jeff31

Still recall a weekend with my then wife playing Lady Bug (2+ million points) for a Twin Galaxy highscore - later 'recalled' by me do to lack of confirmation.

  6. I finally dug out my old colecovision system with the controller. The controller is half shot. My question is there any subsitute I can use instead of the Colecovision Controllers. Thank you in advance.

Your best bet (if you want to have the system upgraded)... is to send it to Yurkie. He can refurbish the controllers and add various mods to your system. PM him for a list of prices etc.

    Jeff

  7. Don't know if this has been done in the past but - OK - looking for where you live. Not down to an address - but at least a city/country (and a state if in the USA)

Me - Lansing, MI area USA

I know where some others live but I'll let them 'chime in' if they wish to do so (some have it in there sig / avatar? geez getting old...).

I bring this up because I attended an Adam Computer meeting a few years ago and was surprised at the turnout for the Grand Rapids MI meeting. I'm also a 'member' of the Midwest Classic Gamers Group which hasn't been active lately - so where are you?

If enough of us are close together - maybe we can meet up for whatever... or not :D

Enjoyed meeting Opcode and Yurkie at the MGC meeting years ago.

  8. OK - with my (very limited) time I checked my 'bare bones' case and mother board - yup the battery is 'fused' to the contacts. I'll try and get to my main 2000 tomorrow and get that battery out! Thanks for all of the suggestions / tips.

  9. I've got 151 homebrews so far. (got 10-15 'in the pipeline')

  10. This will get you started.

Get yourself an old Fireball drive, or something know to work with Amigas at least (avoid the Seagate Hawk drives).

Get yourself a Gotek floppy drive replacement.

Find the Workbench .ADFs for your version of Kickstart in the usual places.

Copy the .ADF files onto a USB stick and create your Selector.adf file using HxCEdit (as pointed out by another member here in the forum).

Boot up the 2000 using the Gotek and select the image that you want to install first.

    Go from there.

Did you yank out the old battery yet?

Thanks. When I have time I'll try these things out. Battery - Uhmm haven't fiddle with that - may have replaced it years ago - but to be safe I'll check it out.

  11. OK - how to start this... (my first topic...been a 'member' here since 1998).

Booted my Amiga 2000HD about 11 months ago and well... long story short the HD failed...

I was really bummed and have followed the threads here - but... sorry I haven't 'worked' on a 2000HD in 15 years...

I DO NOT recall what I should do...pretty sure the drive is DEAD...

I just want to play the games from the past...

Over the years people have donated a bunch of 'stuff' to me (that I have 'no clue' to what the boards do.. bunch of stuff - ask me if you care....)

I'm ready to pull out an A500 and 'start over'...

And even that is a huge deal to me...

    I think I have a A500 hard drive...

Working 7 days a week leaves me very little time to apply my time to an old hobby...

Any help / encouragement would be helpful...

    Thanks

    Jeff31 - love the Amiga / ColecoVision

PS - IF any replies - give me a few to respond - I don't always check these threads for responses... thanks

  12. OK - being a 'coleco only' collector...

    I've purchased 'new' 2600, 5200 and 7800 games... (and colecovision games - not all - I can't afford!!)

    Consider yourself lucky!!!

15-40 games put out every year at 50-60 bucks each!!!

    just sayin...

  13. post-16925-0-11818700-1486358018.jpg

    5-1/4 drive slot...?

very interesting to say the least

Do you have Adam software to try?

Wow want to hear from NIAD and others on this...

will give you a $1.00 to sell to me... :D

    Jeff31

I really am not sure what you are talking about here.

Per you question... On the left side of the unit - it looks like a 5-1/4 disk drive unit - Yes? If not - what is it????

  14. Does it say something about Daniel B. that five out of the eight boxes feature half-naked boobs? :D

It's nice to see Volume #3 of BUSTin-Out released. If I remember correctly, Daniel told me he only made a single cart of that one. :)

Well I like "half-naked boobs" (UMMH - NOT) - sorry ladies!

Yes on volume 3...! Thought that this was very rare...

  15.

I actually feel the same way. I pre-ordered the SGM back in May 2016 (3rd run). It didn't arrive until December 2016. Almost 8 months. So I finally get my SGM and I don't think two weeks go by and I see this Pro version.

I don't even have any SGM games yet. The $100 SGM is a beautiful box sitting on my shelf until I can save up $60+ for one game to use with it. But, that's not even true really because I don't see any SGM games for sale. At least not the ones I want to play. Where is DK? Gradius? Even if I had $60 to spend on a SGM game I wouldn't be able to actually buy it. They're not available.

Now, don't get me wrong. I realize this is a hobby market and I should be grateful new hardware and software is coming (which I am). But I would be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little disheartened in that it took SO long to get it and now it's already old news.

If I'm being honest here, it's almost enough to make me not interested in new stuff for CV any more.

I'm not sorry I bought the SGM. It's beautiful. Maybe one day, I will actually be able to use it.

OK - forgive me If you are not from this planet.... ;-)

Upgrades happen ALLLLL the time... Well who knows - as you said this is a hobby market... and yes it sucks that you had to wait so long... this is NOT a BILLION dollar based company.... (well Ed does go to Brazil often - LOL - maybe he's got money! LOL - NOTTTTTT (get you wife to the states!!!)

I bought 2 SGM's thinking that this was it! Use one and a backup.. Now one is 'worthless' but I'm glad I have it - Will probably get the 'Pro' also.

And now Collectorvision is releasing earlier games by Daniel B. making my originals 'less' valuable. Before maybe a 1000 people interested - now maybe 10 if I wanted to sell...

That's life - ups and downs.

Enjoy the CV and all the new publishers bring...

And don't get me wrong - I have my 'beefs' also.
