I really want to get into 3D gaming but I already own a 52 inch 1080p LCD. I can't imagine having to upgrade already. Ugh.

I heard that Amish video games don't have buttons.

Samsung HDTV's are anything but sucky. Samsung is the leader now after beating Sony a few years ago. They are pretty much universally praised. This is not the same company we all hated who used to make horrible tube SDTVs back in the day. They went from bargain crap to cutting edge pretty darn quickly.
Maybe, but I've sworn off Samsung after they screwed up my Bluray player.
Sorry to hear that man. Was it a profile 1.1 player? I've only used PS3 for BR.

Been doing some research, and found that the scan rate was causing the rig to heat up-- based on the power supply. And as far as I can tell there is no repair for this, the TV set needed a certain scan rate and the console could not deliver. Still not sure about the ins and outs of it, but the TV has to be dialed way down to accept the signal coming in, or the signal has to be converted (amplified??) by some kind of external device to get a good picture to the TV.
And yes, Samsung TV's tend to suck. I like my Sylvania a lot, so far for over 2 years it's been really good. It's a CRT, not an LCD or plasma.
But my C= monitor beats all. 20+ years old, sharp picture. Booyah!

In any effect I have tested over 20 HDTV's in home as they came to the market. (was very picky and wanted to REALLY see what was what) I now have a 52 inch Samsung LCD and 50 inch Samsung DLP. Both take composite video with absolutely no problem. (120hz and 60hz) I don't see how the refresh rate will affect anything. The SNES is a 60hz device and Samsung's plasma line accepts both 60hz and 72hz native. The Plasma will do all the conversions it's self. I don't think it's even possible for it to try and ask more of the console making it overheat. Overheating is most likely due to your power adapter about to die. Mine heated up and practically burned out.
I've never seen a composite/component hybrid connection but as another poster said, it's 90% likely you just need to toggle between the two modes in the menu. I don't think analog sources can auto detect. The "weak signal" error pretty much confirms it. Your friend just needs to use an S-Video cable and be done with it.
If you can give me the model number of the TV I'd be happy to try and help. HDTV's play 2D games soooooo nice. Old 3D not so much.

The first game I ever played was River Raid. I didn't get into gaming hard core until the end of 8-bit and 16-Bit eras. I was also a very heavy arcade Street Fighter player. We used to play for money and have a blast. The Dreamcast was special for me as it was the system that got me into the industry and the Xbox consoles as well because they to a degree re-birthed the "Arcade" culture by allowing players to meet and compete. I consider the single player era of the PSX, N64 and etc to be the dark ages. I love social gaming.
I personally am jealous of all the younger gamers. You can play the classics anytime you want! Dying before the next amazing virtual reality revolution in gaming is not fixable. lol
-
Considering I have a classic game store and arcade in Nashville, I am very interested in where this is going to be...I heard it was going to be next door to a place called Game Galaxy. lol
-
I find LCD and plasma to have a much better image with classic 2D systems. Tubes introduce too many distortions. Pixels for pixels as they say. Get good cables or even better a video mod and be amazed. Look at the longhorn posts here on AA.
As others have said though, early 3D systems don't look so hot though unless upscaled.

If for any reason anyone wants to sell their premium let me know.

This has nothing to do with videogames, but I thought you might enjoy the following movie poster:
I'm proud to say I own an original copy of this poster. I'm sure it went way up in value when 9/11 happened, but I ain't sellin' it!
Though this film was made in 1973, it wasn't released in the US until the middle of 1976, and the poster's design was a blatant attempt to cash in on the popularity of the 1976 King Kong remake:

The irony here is that Godzilla vs. Megalon was a far more enjoyable and interesting film.
Jet Jaguar RULES! Too bad the lower movie wasn't actually called: "King Kong For Christmas!" This year, Santa delivers TERROR!

how do you kill the big snake thing in the alternate reality library? someone give me a hint.Shoot the green things he spits at you back at him. When he shows his tongues rip them off with the ghost slam move. Repeat three times.
I have the Wii, Xbox 360 and DS versions. I do think it's worth playing both the Xbox and Wii games. Different enough to still be fresh.

I can't climb while I'm holdin dis!

Atari/Inforgrames owns it. They know they own it. When we discussed doing a project for them, it was on their IP holdings list. David Sullivan (Previously Backbone, now OnLive) made the game. It was concocted inside Atari marketing, who gave Blue Sky a list of things they thought were "hot." The list was essentially two items, Golf and Fighting Games. So David mashed the two together. He has a playable XE version in his possession, and very early 2600 version. While David doesn't seem to have much affection for the game, I sure do. I'd love to see more done with it. It was actually quite fun while being a totally ludicrous concept.
Thanks for the info. I've been waiting on an official response from Infogrames and Interplay and figured I would ask here too since I was idle. Onlive looks interesting as well. Supposed to go to a private showing in LA next week.
Ninja Golf is quite fun. I think today's market would appreciate the quirky humor more than it's launch audience. It's by far my favorite 7800 game.
-
Just curious as to the reason(s) why you want to know who has got the IP.Let's just leave it at curiosity for now.
I'd assume BlueSky never owned the IP to begin with. That's a perfectly valid point.
-
Does anyone know if Interplay got the IP when BlueSky Software went under?

Analog stick for looking and four buttons for moving... Not much different than a WASD and KB set up. I never had problems with DC shooters.
-
Good god! Why can't we have a second analog nub in the place of start and select?! Other than that I like it.
-
But one big reason for the DC failing was its simple cancellation, there's no way it would have beaten Sony, but given the limited success of Microsoft and Nintendo, and Sega's head start (along with their massive sales in the Dreamcast's short life), they may have come out ahead of MS and N. (granted there were the issues with copy protection/piracy deturing developers to some degree -though revisions to later models could have helped this)Microsoft was happy backing the Dreamcast. If it was not cut short, the Xbox would not be.
-
I wish we had an RPG like SegaGaGa on Dreamcast.

Just like SGGG we would be the new owners of Atari and it's up to us to make the Jaguar a hit and defend against other evil console makers.

Damn! I was too late for this.

-
Dave Vapourware? That rings a "Bell".
-
Sony by far. I can't think of anyone in the list that's gotten even close to them.
-
Are Heavy Sixers without channel switches older than those with them? Even if the serial isn't very low?

Yes Google is indeed my friend and together we did find these and more. Problem is, I asked about S-Video modding for INTV. Not composite. Thanks for the links though. I don't feel like composite is enough of an improvement for the trouble.
Anyone have info on S-Video?
IIRC, you can't get S-video from the INTV.
Ah darn. That would explain why I can't find anything. I was hoping it could do the same as the 2600. I hope to get a mod from Longhorn for my heavy sixer. Shame I can't do the same for INTV.
As of now the best INTV image I can get is from the Intellivision Lives disc. I do love that collection though.

How did you discover the Jaguar.

I was also in the camp of kids that saw the Jaguar as an exotic console. I remember going into the local KB Toys during the liquidation and being absolutely floored to see new Jags in a pyramid to the ceiling for $35.00 each. My past experience with the Jaguar was renting it once from the local video store and playing AvP obsessively over the weekend. (Years later I would buy all of the store's rental carts on it's closing)
I was there with my girlfriend and money was tight so I was trying every way on Earth to convince myself to leave. I did finally get out to the car and sat there for about five minutes before I marched right in and got myself into the 64 club. It felt like opening a time capsule. Later that night we played Zool together and had a really great time with it.
I guess you can say my Jag memories are great ones.
