  1. maybe. can you build a list of special edition games so we can check if they're all 4KB cartridges?
  2. The Special Feature branding has a meaning, that is, a game with a game variation made for children. Easier difficulty levels, for example. Special Edition was used on the text label carts too. It's only reported on the box, never on a cartridge, and also refers to games without a easy level: e.g. Basic Programming.
  3. Some Atari 2600 cartridge - for example Basic Programming, Video Chess, Championship Soccer... has a diagonal band with "Special Edition" written. What does it mean? It's equivalent to the Platinum used later for Playstation games, that is, a best seller?
  4. In my collection I preferred to remove all twins and keep one cartridge only for each game (I used all twins for trade). I sort all cartridges by company, then by type (text-only, black picture, silver, red), then alphabetically. Then, I have a big section for boxed games: they was sorted by company; since they're almost all by Atari, by model number (CX...)
  5. vertical bars could be caused by a cartridge not properly inserted, or dirty. Please try to clean contacts, by remove dust on the cartridge edge connector, then by cleaning softly by using some cotton (water drenched) and a pen eraser. Also remove durty from the Atari's cartridge connector.
  6. I will never be happy to see a wood VCS ruined so... but... he put the cartridge with the label down... how is it possible? Is it just a fake?
  7. Sorry for being off-topic, but I need to buy a new multi-card reader, how to know if it's compatible with cards > 2GB before buying?
  8. sorry, I didn't check the archives. The catalogues are included there. Thanks a lot! :-)
  9. Thank you, great thread.... but sorry for stupid question... where are the catalogues?
  10. Sorry about that, but I was talking about catalogs, not roms, that is, the booklets where all software companies collected their cartridge list. Here on Atariage is a section called "Catalogs", also on Atarimania there is one, but both sites need to click on any catalog, select each page scan, and save the page. I hoped there's someone collecting all manuals and converted in PDF format.
  11. Hi, Is a full catalog archive (in pdf format) downloadable somewhere? The biggest catalog archive available now is on Atarimania but needs to be downloaded one page at a time... Thanks in advance
  12. Hi, I want to store the newly-purchased Harmony Cartridge in my Atari collection together with a proper USB cable. So, I took one of USB cables from my portable MP3 players I have. I only tested by install Virtual Serial Drivers on my Windows XP and the Harmony Programming Tool. Programming Tools shows correctly the green light and the message to the bottom is OK. Since I don't need to update a new firmware now, so I cannot do further tests, is the test I did enough to consider the cable suitable with Harmony?
  13. Hi everybody, sorry if this question was already in this forum on other threads: is there a public site/archive with all Atari 2600 demos (in binary format) from demoscene competitions? Or a site including the links to the demo programmer group sites, where the demos can be downloaded? Thanks! dg67

  15. I'm using 27xxx Eproms. Anyway I will happy to test your BAtari Basic program (and some 2k game) if you can send the .bin to me and the way to attach the Roms to it.
  16. Of course, the Atariage Socketed Cartridges can handle up to 32k ROMs (on a 27c256 chip), so no more than eight 4K Roms can be easily stored, including the game menu program.
  17. Hi, I've all I need (Atariage socketed cartridges, blank eproms and a Willem programmer) to burn games for Atari 2600. I just like to know if there's some 8k, 16k or 32k ROM image with a built-in game menu (loaded in the first 2k) allowing me to run games loaded in next ROM memory addressed space. In the ROM image I can store several 2k (or 4k) ROM games, just after the game menu program. I can try to explain it better, I know it's hard to explain: When I power the Atari 2600 on, it should load a game menu, where different loading options ("Run game 1", "Run game 2", and so on) are displayed. If I choose the "Game 1" Atari should load the first game in the ROM. If I choose the "Game 2" Atari should load the second game in the ROM. And so on... So I can easily build a menu-driven multigame cartridge. I guess a 2k ROM should be enough to program a game loading menu. on a 8k ROM a maximum of three 2k games (or one 2k and one 4k) could be loaded. on a 16k ROM a maximum of seven 2k games (or three 4k) could be loaded. on a 32k ROM a maximum of fifteen 2k games (or seven 4k) could be loaded. Is it possible to write a ROM cartridge like that one? If some of you already wrote it this please post it Thanks! dg67
