  1. I didn't write it was, I only wrote it would be interesting to see one For sure someone doing it in Graph2Font would be ideal but that will not happen "blindly" (without accepted plan of using it in PoP), while RC is relatively cheap conversion and already telling something
  2. This mockup is very nice indeed. Now it would be interesting to see how the RastaConverter copes with it ?
  3. Interesting, but indeed it is a "console style" and I feel it lacks taste... Colours don't play well together, a bit too much of everything (mostly big leafs on top and at the bottom) and there's no title. This earlier proposal would be a dream choice for me:
  4. @pavros will finish his incredible IK+ conversion at some point, it'll still take time, but he assured the project is not abandoned ? http://www.uce.pl/ikplus/downloads.html However it never harms to have two conversions ?
  5. I love it too, there's both classic look and something very original to it. So is the mystery. And I guess it would correspond with the storybook (if unchanged) better (no decorations).
  6. Not necessary, we already have extra big tits of the princess hacked in ? That's also quite odd, but hey, good tits can never be bad ?
  7. Spot on, @Mazzspeed. It's almost like the painter reproducing Mona Lisa doesn't like her colour of eyes, shape of the nose and the background, so suddenly decides to correct Leonardo, because he personally feels it'll be better. Here we talk of CONVERSION of the game that IS Mona Lisa of classic computer games. Obviously it's not a strict reproduction, since the gfx are always platform-dependent, differ and should try to extract the most from given computer capabilities, yet keeping the style intact. But to change artwork completely, just doesn't feel right to me. Both not right and inconsistent - why the levels and gameplay should stay original, then? The place of completely new artwork belongs to completely new projects, not the conversions, methinks. And since it's "Mona Lisa" we're talking here on public forum, everyone should understand voices of concerns are expected and just accept them, too. And true, in the end author decides (it can't be more obvious), be it for good or bad We'll see, cheers. @José Pereira Your proposition also looks very cool and "in classic PoP style", but as @Rybags already pointed out: it seems there's indeed room for improvement in colours department
  8. Yes, either elegant brown and gold version converted by MARIO130XE, or rensoupp's own are "true" PoP title screens, for me look great, fit the game perfectly and just cut it. But if the Author sees them as terrible, I sincerely hope the "mouse of Persia" is just the temp. placeholder and will be replaced by something both better and not degrading his otherwise incredible Atari conversion.
  9. Excellent indeed, I love this classy brown and golden look
  10. Does it mean SIDE3 RTC issue under SDX is fixed? Or is it courtesy if U1MB's RTC maybe?
  11. Thanks for that, it's looking very, very nice and promising. Clean Atari version of iconic PoP title screen.
  12. It's getting too philosophical, methinks I think I pointed out I actually like the interlace "higher resolution" version of storybook, which is a bit like stereo - "where available". Still own another 17" LDC-TV monitor which does not reduce flickering, so I can watch it in nature, too. But I rather hoped - if possible - for more polishing of current non-flicker alternative (as per PoP settings), than removing flickering completely, because it IS the issue and will be even more. And yeah, it's just the intro, but it's the intro of the great PoP
  13. I know it, Altirra is great, but I'm using it mainly for quick testing new stuff, etc. with real Atari being default platform for me, which hopefully the emulator never get to be
  14. That picture wasn't from my monitor, sigh, although was illustrating how the "no flicker" effect of something done with flicker in mind looks. As for the rest (monitor comment), it was as simple take on the things I could expect from you. I know geniuses can often be stubborn and eccentric, but come on! And no one can say you, or anyone of us is a genius, too You're doing great things, but your inability to take any argument except yours, very often radical opinion is a bit saddening. If you believe getting modern monitor/TV that doesn't do correction like that is a simple matter of "not buying crap one", and not the technology we have nowadays that wants to correct everything beyond user's control, that's not too smart, either. When older monitors finally die and we won't be able to repair them due to lack of parts, ROHS regulations, etc, etc, we'll end up seeing soft-interlace on PC emulator only. That's why it would be nice if intro with flickering switched-off or reduced by TV/monitor looked a bit better.
  15. Not true, you can turn it on or off in the settings. What are you writing about? I thought I explicitly explained my 19" LCD-TV has NO OPTION in its settings to DISABLE picture-correction that removes flickering coming out of Atari. And after that correction, the storybook looks as poor as with "no flicker option" set in PoP settings.
  16. Unfortunately that's the case. While I quite like the interlace "higher" resolution look of story book and the gold 1st letters, quite recently connected more modern (10 y/o or so ) LCD-TV 19", and it reduced flickering to zero, gave stable picture, which didn't look good. That said, there's no setting to change it, it just always does it. And as the time passes, with more and more displays we will face it, that the effect will be lost, while non-flickering version of storybook looks just bad. And watching the original/planned outlook only on emulator just doesn't cut it, so maybe reworking it to something else, without flickering, would be a sensible choice. I would really love to see TIX' Atari take on BBC Master's version storybook and title-screen, even if they'd have less colours in Atari version. But yeah, I remember rensoup's position on this good enough, so what to do...
  17. It's nothing urgent, but it would be good to know the issue is acknowledged(?), so last used config.sys selection gets fixed some time in the future, maybe together with RTC?
  18. I think I've just located another issue to previously reported SIDE3CLK.SYS problem. That said, the last choice of my SDX boot multi-config(.sys) is not remembered by SIDE3.
  19. No, me too Actually I can't imagine hotplugging SIDE's card, nor had any need to do it ever before. It's not a floppy disk, it's "HDD" ? And Atari can rest while adding stuff to it on PC ?
  20. Yes, it is. Apparently they were produced in Poland, it's what I learnt only right now Living in Poland, I thought it was chinese maker like any other
  21. Sorry that I'm quoting myself, but maybe someone had similiar experience with ERROR 144 in loader on certain SD, please? As for speeds in RWTEST it's quite funny to see the differences, since most if not all of the SD cards we use offer speed way beyond ATARI/SIDE capabilities?
  22. Just FYI: the issue of green led staying on when using SDX is somehow gone by itself and doesn't happen anymore with either of two SD cards I'm using. Weird, but good EDIT: On used 4GB GoodRam SD card I'm mostly getting ERROR 144 when trying to mount ATRs, everything else is working completely fine. Is the card too slow, or maybe reformatting FAT32 with specific sector size would help? (already tried 4096 and 512b).
