  1. Was today National Shop at a Thrift Store Day? I hit up eight different thrifts today from national and local chains to independent stores and all but one were packed with shoppers. At one they were standing about 20 people deep in the check out line that fanned out to three registers. At another I was almost elbow to elbow with other shoppers. The highlight of the day was when I was at a somewhat inner city thift and I saw an Amish family shopping, but I didn't see a horse and buggy in the parking lot. The one Amish fellow in his late teens or early twenties was fasinated with the array of hand held lcd games (mostly poker and sudoku type) and had to try every one it seemed. All this and I came up emty handed. The best I could find was a couple of over priced NES commons, and a vast array of plug and plays , one of which caught my eye until I saw it was physically broken. I'm almost ready to throw in the towel on going thrifting if this keeps up.

  3. All three controllers are the same functionaly with just a different plastic shell and button spacing. http://www.atariage.com/controller_page.html?SystemID=2600&ControllerID=6
  4. This is beginning to remind me of the test for how patient a child is. A teacher places a marshmallow on a table in front of a child and says "If you can wait 15 minutes without eating this one marshmallow, I will give you two more". I think these people pestering Wonder probably couldn't wait the 15 minutes.
  5. So much for an accurate weather forcast. The weather man said 1-2 inches at best and we are currently at 3" plus with near whiteout conditions.

Normaly I like snow, but I had some errands to run 45 minutes away and had to drive in it. luckily it let up by the time I left and most of the main roads had been plowed.

All I have seen are Billy Basses at thrift stores. I think they intentally take out the batteries so nobody gets annoyed.

  7. I would say that the Leapfrog Didj educational hand held would be cheap. I saw a few new in box systems on ebay that sold for $25 and under. There are only 16 games for it and one of those is a free download that I think is still available, and I have seen several new in box games show up at the local Goodwill for around $4 or less. In fact I got the Neopets game new for $2.99 the other day and Star Wars: The Clone Wars for about the same price last fall for my daughter. Both were new in the box and both were from the same Goodwill here in town.
  8. I've got one day left on my Ebay auctions for Sega and NES games and accessories. No reserve, starting bid of $.99. So help a brother out and take a look. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fmyworld.ebay.com%2Fsecondlapmotorsports
  9. That's cool. Now if he could add a battery source and a mini LCD screen and go portable, that would be even cooler.

Take a small flat blade screw driver and gently insert it in one of the slots on the dust cover then push the cover back.
  17. No, it was a good thread idea. Very entertaining.
  18. My son has a Leapster II and my youngest daughter has a Leap Pad and I find that the games for those systems for the most part are entertaining atleast it is for their target audience. They did a nice job on blending education and game play.
  19. I wish. I will find an Atari (or 80's gaming) score once in a blue moon at the Salvation Army, but the Goodwill here sends most of their good stuff off to auction.
  20. Did you here the news? Atari has filed for bankruptcy.
