I don't have a horse in this race but this was one of my favorite arcade games bitd! How are you guys liking the audio - some of the best tunes I have ever heard (level 6 to note). If you're a fan of this game, you should check out it's sequel 'Dragon Saber".

My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong DK gurus) is that the first line of Donkey Kongs were red. The latter half were blue (Popeye was also in a blue cab.) Donkey Kong Jr.'s were orange and DK 3s were red as well... BTW: nice score! DKjr. is my favorite of the series!

You're really not going to unless you play the arcade version - it's all about the handlebars!

Now Taking Orders: Action Max VHS collection on DVD
schuwalker replied to swlovinist's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Received mine yesterday.....Thanks! -
I like Life Force as well but I do miss the voices from the arcade version... Space Dungeon wasn't a prototype.. it was released in the arcades albeit quite rare. I love Tac-Scan - one of my favorite Sega vectors. I wonder how it plays since the arcade version uses a spinner for the main ship controls????

The subject hits home for me since Taito is my favorite game manufacturer! I currently own a Front Line arcade machine. Two Jungle King/Hunt cabs and searching for a Wild Western... I voted Front Line as my choice. In fact, it's my favorite arcade game of all-time! I can't recall how many quarters I put into that sucker bitd. I love all these 'spinner' type of games! If you get a chance you should play Tin Star - another great game!

Received mine a couple of days ago - love it! Still chomping at the bit for that Slither!

You have the correct items, but I think the rooms are wrong. The Water goes in Room 9 (which I think is Room I in that map), and the other items go in Room 2 (which I think is Room *B* in that map). Note, I number the rooms in the order they appear in the game's "demo mode" when you first start it up. I think that's the same order shown in that map, where A=1, B=2, C=3, etc. Thanks, that was the issue... appears quite lot of the walkthroughs online have the wrong room info for that clue.. probably parroting each other.. and I think I found quite an optomised route to get all clues in one sitting.. just need to tidy up my notes on it. but I have now completed the game.. in one go without resetting... just a shame there is no 'end' to say you have done it.. Someone needs to post these Swordquest games *completed* on Youtube.

Very cool game. I just played one at a New Years party and love it! It does use a unique control scheme (Tron-esque joystick and a spinner)....

Memories of where and when you first played/saw this game

There was a Professor Pac at my local Alladin's Castle. Remember even being lame back then - trivia game really? -
The one by the Rue le Dodge bumper cars or the Eagle? The one by the Eagle isn't even there anymore...it's a kids area. I'm thinking it was not by the Eagle coaster. But the last time I played Pac-Land there was around '86ish. I was there recently (meaning 4 years ago) and don't remember an arcade even there anymore....

Dare I say Pac-Land is my favorite of the series? I used to play it quite a bit at Great America amusement park in Gurnee, Il. Finally found a cab recently w/ sideart still intact (very rare)! And yep, still suck at it! I could never get used to the button layout for movement....

Frenzy review and Coleco collection videos
schuwalker replied to StarSoldier1's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I've researched Frenzy quite a bit for Frantic and while the robots aren't as chatty as in Berzerk, they still speak. Wiki covers this: Maybe the one you played had something wrong with the audio circuits. My mistake.... I does have speech (Robot Attack) but not nearly as much as Berzerk. -
Anybody got a Front Line one that would like to sell?

Frenzy review and Coleco collection videos
schuwalker replied to StarSoldier1's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I always prefered the gameplay of Frenzy over Berzerk. And for the record, the arcade version of Frenzy did NOT have the voices either. I used to play the arcade upright at Dominicks foodstore. Definitely a semi-rare game. (It's my understanding that Frenzy didn't do well in the arcades.) Needless to say, I think this is hands downs the best arcade port on the Colecovision and a *must have* for any owner! -
Does anyone know how to repair Commodore computers?
schuwalker replied to the-topdog's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
This guy might be able to help out... http://www.arcadecomponents.com/index.html -
Can't help you w/ the actor. But, as far as playing games in stores.... Inever recall a store actually opening a boxed game and testing it out. I do remember playing kiosk units at Kmart and Woolco. My local Camelot music store also had a kiosk. (After seeing pics, I believe it was the Imagic one.)
