  1. Rampage was the last Activision game I acquired to complete my US Activision collection. However, I would tend to agree with CPUWIZ. Cosmic Commuter is definitely the hardest to find CIB. Loose is harder to determine, but I would lean toward RR2 too.

A store near me has a whole stack of sealed Double Dragons so it's not that. :)

  2. Heh heh. This same conversation is going on over at DP. I just remembered reading this though:

Finally, by researching the public record of usergroup pastings (Now available through Google Groups) I tracked down another collector who claimed he found the first discovered copy of Air Raid. Via email, he informed me that he found his copy in a thrift store in California, and the only way he knew the title of the game is because "Air Raid" was printed on the box! Additionally, he recalled having read from the box that the company, Men-A-Vision, was also located in California. His is the only known boxed copy of the game in existence, as far as I know. I tried for years to get him to scan the box but to no avail. He dropped out of the active collecting scene years ago, and all his games are scattered in staorage locations he's just too busy to go looking through. Eventually, his email address changed and I have since lost contact with him.

Of course, we have no way of knowing if the guy with the box is telling the truth, or remembered what was on the box correctly.

  3. Played this for the first time last night. I've always loved the C64 version, but this one? I don't know. A lot of gameplay elements are missing, though I think if I hadn't ever played a different version I'd love it.

Is anyone else having trouble following the Mountain Dew cans? I have no problems with the C64 version but I have yet to get even close on this one.

  4. Probably because of the large amount of semi sealed BBSB boxes + manuals that were recently found and are being sold.  :ponder:

I heard that the boxes were being sold for about $100. If someone found a very large number of the C64 boxes then I would say that the value of a boxed 5200 version of Bounty Bob has come down substantially from a year or two ago. For those who do not know the boxes and manuals for the 5200 version and the C64 version are the same except that the C64 version have a sticker placed on them.

They do not have sticker residue on them, I waded through about 10 of them myself. ;) I personally picked out the very best one of the lot for my friend hhwolfman.

Then why did at least one of them still have the C64 disk and manual inside? :?

  5. BTW strange thing is that the auction is now ended with a BIN. I'm pretty sure yesterday there was no BIN (and the reserve was met). Can you add a BIN to you auction later?

Never mind. I already figured it out. Dude places a bid. Meets the reserve, kills the BIN. Regrets it later. Retracts his bid. Reserve is not met anymore. BIN gets reinstated. Dude now uses BIN.

    Nice tactic :)

You got it! In fact Willie, the winner, explained that he did just that over here:

  6. I've only seen the original Indy 500 in the small gatefold box, but it seems strange that they would make you buy the controllers separately with the initial game release and then bundle them later. Unless the first release of the VCS (BIG SEXY) came with driving controllers. That would make sense. Anyone know?

The one pair of driving controllers were only included with the purchase of the Indy 500 (Sears Race) cartridge. The gatefold Indy 500/ Race cart box was included inside the fat box.

    Ah, like this one?

  7. Bumping an old thread here because I found myself asking this same question:

Did the Indy 500 have the fat box with the controllers in 1977, or did they package the controllers differently?
