Some good tips there Zero! On some of the later levels, the snake moves extremely fast and you will have to jump straight from the truck lane to the first row of turtles. As you get further in the game, the biggest challenge becomes how incredibly slow some of the logs are. You'll also notice that the speed will change several times per level (which makes sense given what sku said and that you are using up all your time with each frog). One tip for anyone who might be feeling frustrated with level 5. Once you pass level 5, it cycles through the same 5 screens (with the addition of the snake and otter). That means that it gets much easier again (plus you will typically break 20,000 when you beat level 5 which gives you an extra life). I find that level 5 is the hardest level until you get to level 15 (which I have yet to beat).

I also have all of those in the opposite format. Don't think I've ever seen them in those formats before either.

Getting back to the original topic, I actually found a cart like that a while back. I'm pretty sure it was Space Invaders too. It's in a box somewhere, I'll have to dig it out again.

So freakin' close! (to keilbaca's score) 55,600 There's still time yet...

SOLID SNOW WHITE ATARI 2600 TELE SYSTEM--It's a fake!!
Keir replied to 64squares's topic in Atari 2600
You really "LOVE" your 2600, eh? You'll never know "exactly" how much I love it! So that's how it got to be all white. -
It was fun for a little while, but now it's just taking up space. Mainly looking for trades. WANT LIST

50,980 Last night my Frogger tape got chewed up in my tape player. Fortunately, I was able to fix it, but it gave me a reason to look into other ways of playing Supercharger games to spare my precious tapes from further damage. I downloaded wplaybin and it works like a charm! I can't believe I waited this long to use it.

So, I beat my last score by just a little. Funny story behind this too. All my previous scores for this game were obtained by playing with the TV on the floor, sitting cross-legged in front of it. I won't go into the details why, but let it be known that this is not the most comfortable way to play Atari. Last night I had a gaming party so I procured an extra table to put the TV and Atari on. I had no intention of playing Fast Food again, but today was so hot that I spent most of the time in the one room in my house that has A.C. (the room with the Atari, naturally!) So after I posted my previous score (which was actually from a couple days ago, I figured I'd give it one more shot with the new set up. I was amazed at how much easier it was! For most of the game I varied between 1 or no purple pickles, and after the first few thousand points it wasn't getting any harder. Then, as I neared 10,000 points, the unimaginable happened. My Wico Boss joystick, which has never failed me in the 20+ years I've been using it, stopped working! I could no longer move down! Soon I found myself trapped at the top of the screen with nowhere to go. Fortunately, it was not long before it said "You're getting fatter" and I had a chance to act. I thought for sure the jostick had just come loose, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in making sure it was secure. I pressed the button, and..... augh! It still didn't work! Purple pickle after purple pickle flew into my mouth as I stood still, helpless against the barrage of junk food gone bad. Miraculously, I made to the end of another stage with just 5 pickles. One more and I would have been a goner. The problem was obviously either my joystick or the Atari itself, but since replacing the Atari in the middle of a game wasn't an option I had to take a chance with another joystick. I grabbed a standard Atari jostick which I knew worked and plugged it in. A press of the button, and.... yes! It works! However, the whole incident threw me off and it wasn't long before my game was over with a final score of 12,833.

Click on the thumbs for bigger pics. Scott (ClubNinja) and Eva drew a crowd as they played a game of Twinkle Star Sprites: Liza and Zach compete at Titlematch Pro Wrestling for the Atari 2600: Rob (Larcen Tyler) steals the show with his rendition of Red Red Wine on Karaoke Revolution: Scott succumbs to the “Keir pressure” and tries his feet at a game of DDR against Chad Tower:

Here's my best score:

Are you sure that's pizza? I thought maybe it was a Dorito! (Actually I really did think that before reading the instructions this week.)
-
Very nice haul. What the heck is a joystick reducer? Never seen that one before. I believe it's a reverse Y-cable so that you can use 1 joystick for 2-player alternating games.

Add me to the "not that funny" list. In fact, I think it makes an interesting point that these guys, who (I'm going out on a limb here ) were most likely not considered popular or cool. Look at pictures of "cool" people in the 80s and then you can get a good laugh at some of the rediculous fashions of the day. So basically, nerdiness is timeless. Oh, and the cheerleader on the right is hot. Maybe she'd like to come over for a game of Centipede?

Oh good, more competition! I was worried that other people didn't want to play this game. Last night I broke 3,000 (I forget what my score was, but I took a picture which I will post if I can't beat that score by the end of the week).

I'm getting fatter! 2,335 These aren't really tips, but they aren't in the manual: 1. For every 500 points you earn, one purple pickle is removed from the top of the screen. 2. Each level has 50 food items. And here are some of my personal tips: 1. On the first few levels, when things are still moving slow, it is worth it to move around and get all the food. Later on you will have to stick to the right side. 2. Your range of movement is deceptively narrow (i.e. it looks like you can move further up and down than you really can) so stick to the middle as much as possible or you may get trapped. 3. If you can pull it off (I can't) use the Kaboom trick. In other words, keep your eyes on the left side of the screen, not on your lips!

A classic! My best score so far, though I know I can do better: 1,682

Five days and counting! Also, if anyone has the following items and could bring them for the night it would greatly expand our multiplayer options! GBA GP32 Turbo Duo controller(s) Thanks! P.S. If you need any more incentive to come, I will be having drawings to give away lots of stuff.

So close! (to the top 10 that is) 5,087

Is it really just the same screen over and over again? Not that that makes it any easier. 3,164

Finally got around to playing this one. 2,596

Damn you Keir, that's my Salvation Army . Only kidding, I have been able to get some NES carts there every now and then. Actually this was at one of the Brockton stores. Plus it was like 3 years ago.
-
Salvation Army's policy is to never sell an item without a price tag. I believe this is to stop people from removing price tags to try to get things at lower prices. It can be frustrating for us, but they're just doing their job. I did luck out once though. I was buying a couple games from a Salvation Army and noticed several loose manuals and Intellivision overlays lying around. Of course, there were no prices on them but I brought them up with the games I was buying and asked anyway. The cashier said I could take them for free.

[Atari 5200] My entire collection is now available
Keir replied to Keir's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Updated list (a few games have been sold/traded). -
Heh, I had some of those toys, like the Millennium Falcon model used on the cover of Star Voyager. Also notice the other ship on that cover uses parts from the Battlestar Galactica ship model (had that one too). I'd love to see a comprehensive list of all the toys they used.
