  1. AFA D2 goes, I loved the PS version although I completed it in a few days. I thought it was a fine example of an ealry PS game, but it's just trial & error until you know what to do. The DC version expands greatly on the first story. D2 spans 4 discs (I got it for $8, that's $2/disc!) so in that respect, it's OK if you like the genre. It's definitely original but not for everyone.

I'm still working thru Disc 1. There's some backtracking & I'll probably resort to an online guide to beat it. But usually once I get into a game like that, I play/stay to see the end.

The only acknowledgement/review I ever saw was in Oct 2000 Game Informer, IIRC it got 4.5/10 overall.

  2. Cant recall the exact date but it was early on as thats when I shared a house w/ 2 friends. One had a Genesis & that was our main form of gaming until I ran out & got a Jag one day. It was when Electronics Boutique still had them, & I think just after the holidays but they wouldnt take checks due to some new policy they implemented. I had to leave the store, go to my bank & w/draw the rest of the money. Needless to say, I was pretty po'ed & the manager was nice enough to discount a game for my trouble. I think it was Trevor McFur...

I remember my Genny housemate telling me "Cybermorph is very addictive." I had a girlfriend school me in Tempest 2K soon after, & it took off from there!

  3. YES!!! 8) I often find these games I have more fun/interest in these games than the $50 new ones. Some of my best games were only $10. I try to read reviews first though- I don't just snap anything up. I find the "Buried Treasures" segment on G4TechTV's "Judgement Day" helpful too. They've featured Toy Commander & Sky Odyssey (among others) & I havent been let down yet!

The guy I mentioned before also tends to measure games' worth based on whether he's heard of it. He pretty much dismisses any original, innovative game...

  4. I'm having kind of an "argument" w/ a friend about games like this. He's big into the latest top-selling titles, while I bargain hunt for stuff like TotS & other "different", creative games. I say it's good/benefical that a vast variety of games exist/are out there, no matter if they sell big or not, while he maintains if a game doesnt make money, what good is it to anyone?

  5. What's the problem here- $5 each & you're HESITATING??? :? :ponder:

I'da scooped ALL of 'em up right then & there!

If the store's at all decent, someone there should know SOMETHING about them- or is that why you're asking here?

  6. @jedijeff- you MUST be a Jedi w/ that score!!! Ive used those strategies since playing the game in the arcade. I know all that stuff & probably never break 500K. The chef w/ the round hat (tends to guard the cone) starts chucking food nonstop & indiscriminately!

Is there a game algorithm or something that ensures you're not penned in by holes/chefs at the start of every level, or is it totally random?
