  1. @jerseydevil- yeah, I got Party Pak at a GameStop, SPECIFICALLY for Toobin. I didn't care about the other games on it. I asked the clerk 3 TIMES if it'd work on a PS2. He insisted it did. I got it home- no dice on Toobin!

I returned it to a different GameStop for credit toward Ridge Racer V.

  2. Because the "u" in "unique" & "unicorn" is pronounced as "yoo-", a sound that starts w/ a consonant (in this case, "y") just like "yak" or "yawn" & not a vowel ("under", "upset"). We'd never say "an yak" or "an yawn" would we? It helps to think of the words as "yunicorn" & "yunique". Get it?

Now, what's the past tense of brake, as in to stop a car? Is it broke, or braked? (Hint: spelling is important!)

  3. @davidcalgary: I said "EX-member"! :D Actually, meetings were on Fri nights which cut into my social life, so I quit.

Michael was a good president & is a good guy, but he's the one who concentrated on bylaws & we barely discussed Atari at all!

My guess is the new prez will be Greg Leitner- a longtime member in good standing who has taken on nearly every officer position thus far & my original contact for joining up in the first place!

Again, it was fun, but they lack much when it comes to talking Atari...

  4. Speaking as an ex-SPACE member, don't expect much Atari-related info. Meetings often consisted of club bylaws discussion & talking about who was bringing what to the next potluck. AFAIK they still offer monthy DOMs, & they have an online newsletter that gets updated occasionally.

  5. I have Jag Zoop too- kinda addictive, fun game to show people. It was released cross-platform (many systems) but it's not necessarily a "ship" shooting "lazer beams", for those who may think it's a space shooter. Then again, maybe they did that for the SNES version, or it was an easy way for Paralistalon to describe it.

If Forsaken64 is the same game for PSX, I'd pass. It's a forgettable subpar 3D shooter by Acclaim, not awful but not great. It has several levels, good soundtrack (the game disc plays as a music CD, but that's N/A to a 64 owner), & many playable characters. Try it if you've never played it, but you won't be amazed. I guess it's worth $3 if it's there next time you go.

  6. Yeah, I figured the toothpaste should be as "ungritty" as possible to avoid further scratches from abrasiveness.

Seriously dinovelvet, try some different methods & let us know what works best. I've heard all sorts of things when I asked this. There oughta be a "be all, end all" answer to this...?

  7. I've heard the toothpaste trick before...WHAT KIND? Crest, Colgate, Aqua Fresh, Arm & Hammer, MentaDent, etc etc etc.

There's Tartar Control, Minty Fresh, whitening, smoker's toothpaste, etc etc etc.

There's white, green, blue, etc etc etc.

What the hell, try it... at least your games'll smell good!

  8. What's a "strach"? My understanding is the Dr removes a thin coating from the data side of the disc, the layer the scratch is on.

Are you sure you're using the Dr right? It wont fix very deep scratches. Make sure you wet the disc surface before repair. Read the manual- as I said, it's worked wonders for me- I stand by it!

  9. Got my PS2 on Launch Day- I was #95 out of 96! Haven't had a problem (yet?)

I bought a Lynx AFTER its debut- I recall bringing it to work right from the mall & telling my manager it was "the future of video games". I think I was right- for awhile.

I also bought my Jag (same store) after its debut but still paid $250. The store had bad checks the previous Xmas so they didn't accept them over $200! I got into it w/ the clerk, store manager, etc & had to go to the bank & w/draw another $50!!! The manager was nice enough to give me a discount for my trouble on whatever game I bought w/ it...
