    7800 game finds!

I paid full price ($30?) for F-18 Hornet way back when... Thought it was dull; sold it used to raise money for Jag Ultra Vortek, also full price...

    7800 Mario Bros.

NO stalact...stalagm...ICICLES!!! JFTR, the 7800 version keeps the game physics intact (players bounce off each other/into creatures, etc. & multiple creatures can occupy a floor) Not so w/ the 2600 version. Boy was I let down...
  3. It could also be stated that burke_01's opinion the game sucked is exactly that... Now, comparing the Genny version to graphically superior systems (e.g. Atari ST, Amiga) & saying it sucks makes more sense. But I was simply saying hey, at least there IS a home version, & you've got it!
  4. If not a compilation disc (Atari Arcade Classics 2!!!) then Diablo (PSX).
  5. What do you expect for a 16-bit home system? An EXACT arcade to home translation? Be thankful it came out! (BTW, I think it's decent!)
  6. @A2600- yeah, saw your 1st post here...I won an auction for Hole-in-One 10 days ago & have been (im?)patiently waiting for it...maybe today! Seems like an eternity...been keeping myself busy w/ Super Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back!
  7. I still can't believe I found a SNES (less cords/pads) for $4 there! I've bought a few games thru eBay/used, & borrowed some from friends who still have theirs around. Best deal of my life!
  8. Sinistar, Toobin, & Vindicators!!! I've done died & gone to heaven!!!
  9. Actually this was the only Sega game I'd play in the arcade(s)- I was mainly an Atari man. When I got my Genny & discovered eBay, I made sure to get this game. Luckily a seller was nice enough to sell it alone to me after one of his lots didn't sell...
  10. I meant PGA Euro Tour for the Genny is better than SNES PGA Tour IMO. The graphics seem smoother on the Sega version, especially the ball physics. The SNES has a profound jerky/choppy motion when following the ball in-flight. Other than that, they're virtually the same game. PGA Euro Tour has 5 courses: Crans-sur-Sierre (Switzerland) Forest of Arden (England) Le Golf National (France) Valderrama (Spain) Wentworth Club (England)
  11. Yes, you couldn't do flyovers & it wasn't 3D- I'm sure it's not Wailiae or Mean 18, as they're memorable names; could be Pebble Beach, & Hole-in-One seems vaguely familiar. I'll return PGA Tour today & look for it. Keep any other suggestions coming!
  12. Hey all- picked up a working but bare SNES for $4 yesterday (cables/controller extra) & grabbed the wrong golf game by accident- PGA Tour Golf by EA which I think stinks (I have the better PGA Euro Tour for the Genny). I barely recall a good one from years ago...there were no human players, no commentary, & just a single full course. It was still areally good game! I recall the graphics were really sharp & crisp, but I can't place the name or maker. Please help a "new" SNES owner out!
  13. oops...tho it may not LOOK like it...
  14. OK- for those of you who don't know "Donna" or "the right person" & want your CDs fixed, get a Game DR! We know what we're talking about!
  15. well, for those who care- I finally made it to Wal-Mart & got an Allsop CD repair kit. It has various pads, resurfacing discs & a battery-powered "applicator" not unlike a teeth-cleaner @ the dentist. I'm not sure if the fluid included is that mentioned earlier in this thread. Anyhoo, I followed the manual & tried the game CD (Fatal Frame)- & it actually worked WORSE than b4! I could get thru the Himuro intro, but suddenly the game hung up when I picked up a notebook. I decided to use my Disc Dr to fix the "problem" the Allsop caused- & IT WORKED! I playtested for 5-10 min w/ no problems! So, once again- I stand by the Disc/Game DR- it saved the day (again!)
  16. In Beyond Castle Wolf & Bruce Lee, you reach an "end" but can keep playing from there (in BCW at a higher skill level)...does this meet the original post's criteria?
  17. Guess that answers adonis' "MC: TB" question, then...
  18. @Foxy- then explain why BloodRayne is the BEST PS2 game I own, & DMC is the WORST...
  19. Commercial games w/ endings in MY 8-bit collection: Action Biker Ghostbusters Mercenary Ninja Necromancer Star Raiders 2 Pitfall 2 Dreadnaught Factor Decathlon James Bond 007 Fight Night
  20. I see! Didn't know there was a new TB version (I seldom visit the store here). So the new one ISN'T "trakball in joystick mode" compatible?
  21. Well, Missile Command for which system? I think you'll be OK if you mean the 2600 version...I don't see why Joystick mode wouldn't work for 400/800 Missile Command, tho...don't have the game to see. I think Trakball mode is for purists who want a "truer" sense of control.
  22. Yeah! Picked up NES Vindicators today- a bit bland, but not bad...satisfies my craving, anyway... NES Gauntlet, OTOH... Any other version is better.
  23. I recall YEARS ago at KMart (since closed) I was a young lad w/ enough ca$h for an Atari game. I wanted Donkey Kong (for $25) but the clerk, obviously taking advantage of my youth & wanting a better sale, said "Aw, I heard THAT version isn't very good" so I bought Pole Position for $32. Fast forward to about 5 years ago when I finally got DK & found out how good it really is. I still think about that jerk clerk...!
  24. Not to worry- I think 99.9% of "trakball-compatible" games use Joystick mode...the only true "Trakball" game I'm aware of is Missile Command. Never tried it w/ Track & Field but it's good for games like Space Invaders, Galaga, etc where you shoot up. It also worked well w/ 7800 Crossbow. Of course, there's Centipede & Millipede...!
  25. Get this game! Despite what anyone says, it doesn't "suck". Combines elements of Blood Omen/Soul Reaver, Tomb Raider, Wolfenstein- some of the best genres in video game history. I'm not saying it ranks up there, but it's damn good.
