  1. @Gabriel- that's the SAME lvl/boss that always got me! No time for that crap...

I always hated Time Pilot too. Borrowed it not long ago but still couldn't get anywhere. It doesn't seem hard but it is for me.

I LOVE Gyruss & have it for Atari 8-bit: hi score 773,550 stage 70. Got to Earth 4 times in that game (by my math!) 8)

  2. Thanks for the lists so far! I should say "games you stand a chance in", as playing Asteroids or Space Invaders w/out firing isn't much fun...

Regarding my own post above, the PSX version of Gran Prix (on Activision Classics) uses "x" to speed up, so the 2600 cart may use the fire button too. However, PSX Dolphin doesn't use a button, but does the 2600 cart? (I should know better; I LOVED that game & beat it!)

  3. Don't laugh at Fun w/ Art? It's one of the best art programs out there! I can't count how many pictures I made (& still have!) Nothing worthy of "MicroScreens" feature in ANTIC magazine, tho...

    A few examples:

a scene of us TPing a kid's house

    Ghostbusters logo

    Yamaha keyboard mockup (PSS-666)

    RoboCop movie promo

bikini-clad chick on the beach in front of a giant can of Miller beer

    the list goes on... :D

  4. We can all thank the GameBoy for that!!!

He wasn't "assaulted", he was informed firmly that his post was irrelevant to the forum.

It's all good, pynew, come & join the fun! :D

  5. What 2600 games don't use but play OK w/out the fire button?

    (besides to re/start a game)

    So far:

    (Ms.)Pac-Man

    Maze Craze (no "flashlight")

    Frogger

    Freeway

    Superman (no X-ray vision)

Activision Gran Prix (I seem to recall using L/R to accelerate/brake)

Any others? If this has been posted before, please link me- thx!

  7. The local "Rustler" restaurant getting coin-op games. I was playing Pac-Man & was down to the last few dots before the cartoon, which I'd never seen. My older brother was chiding me, saying "Ooh, you're gonna die, look out" etc when the ghosts got my last guy. I turned & began beating on him & crying I was so mad! Most humiliating was having to go back to our table w/ everyone staring at me, & being called "overly-sensitive" by Dad.

Playing Swordquest: EW for the first time & getting SO frustrated I started crying, & my oldest bro coming in & teasing me for THAT!

I'm not really as big a crybaby as one may think...

  8. Mendon- do you have the manual? It mentions the "bump" as a switch for the stone block(s), described as a shallow depression, but they're not really that at all. "Sometimes they come in bright happy colors, sometimes...are hard to find."

Some hints: you don't always have to kill an enemy tribesman, but to get his useful spear: if there's a down ladder nearby, stand by & wait for the enemy to approach & throw. Quickly step down the ladder to dodge it, then go back up & get the spear!

Don't waste time watching a Dude climb a long ladder. If your plan requires it, switch Dudes as he climbs, saving precious time, as beating levels often depends on the last few seconds.

Some "goal blocks" have plants on either side- park a Dude in front of them before finishing for 1000 pts each!

  9. Down on the lower right ledge (w/ a small waterfall) there's a bump you need to put a Dude on. It's white but plain to see. As soon as you step on it, the screen pans up to show the wall dissolve (if you're not watching you'll miss it). You need to keep the Dude on the bump to finish.

This is a great game. Too bad it wasn't more popular- maybe because it was a "thinking" game?
