Well, they call the enemies in Galaga "bugs", but I prefer Galaga '88.
Am I too late for the bonus point?

I guess the best strategy tidbits I use are make sure to always get mosquitos (the dart-shaped bugs that fly diagonally from the top), they move the board UP a row when hit.
The beetles never go up the extreme far left or right columns, so you're always safe from them in the extreme lower left & right corners.
Always keep your area (dark grey area) mushroom-free. If a millipede head reaches the bottom, it starts going UP & stays in the grey area, in addition, NEW heads start coming in from the side. With mushrooms there things can get really prickly.

S1500 gave me another batch of free CDs. The guy who just keeps on giving & giving.
In the dictionary under "generous" is a picture of him!

I haven't had a lot of time this week to play, thanks to my job.
Yep. Jobs suck.
Hey, what would happen if one played this on a 5200 with the 2600 adapter & the 5200 Trakball? Would you get actual arcade trakball control?

That the guy who tricked people with his Predator pin promise that never came to be?

Well it's last-minute but heres some strategy for the newcomers-
1. Probably the most basic strategy- in early waves, wait for 2 missile paths to cross & take em out with a single shot.
2. In higher waves it's essential to determine where a missile is going to hit, i.e. whether or not it'll hit a city or your base. Many times missiles will hit to the immediate left or right & not do any harm whatsoever. Learn to extrapolate the missile paths to see if they'll hit anything.
3.Hit smartbombs/cruise missiles directly dead-on center- any deviation & they'll avoid your shot explosions.
4. Just for fun, if 2 missiles hit an empty city space, you'll hear the same explosion as if the city was there & got destroyed.
Does anyone else play with the cities named after real ones? I play (left to right):
San Fransisco, Las Vegas, Denver, Mpls/St Paul (my home base), Chicago, DC, Orlando

Is it me, or does the guy on the Atari 5200 TV ad that shows off the "pause" function (heard on the latest Atari 5200 podcast) sound like a deranged lunatic when he takes the phonecall from Judy? Is that what they were going for?

I don't believe anything back in the day was written to use the trackball controller in anything other than Joystick Mode.
The 400/800 cartridge version of Missile Command works in (T)rackball mode.
Im assuming the built-in version on the XEGS does too.

"Juggling" those smartbombs are a pain in the @$$ & can really use up your ammo. I took about a dozen shots at one before it finally succumbed.
Tried to better my score again (didnt happen) but had it out again w/ a smartbomb- it hovered over my
last city & I unloaded all my ammo at it, juggling it, depleted my ammo dumps, & knocked it out of the sky with my FINAL bullet.

Listening to the latest episode of Coin Rejects. 2 minutes in, they are mentioning feedback & STILL, to this day, in 2017, are a bit ribbed on the comment on swearing I left many ages ago. Wow. Move on. Heh.
& did you stop listening, like they said/assumed you did?
-
Nailed the Sun/ATARI theme. Got it last episode in fact.
I OWN a kangaroo machine...sorta. A well-known local collector guy who fixed my Xevious sold me an empty Kang cab for $40, & I outfitted it with a PlayStation 2, LCD TV, & an XGaming X-Arcade DualStick. I play all the PS2 compilation discs (NAMCO, Taito, Capcom, Atari, etc) on it. Like a homemade MAME cab, without the MAME.

I consider Coin Rejects to be the replacement for Arcade Outsiders- although MUCH more subdued.
Kinda AO Lite.

Once again S1500 comes thru! In response to my thread on wanting obscure 80s music, he posted that he had a bunch of CDs i could have free upon pickup. There were 60 in all with some great stuff! Working my way thru them now!
As always, a good deal & a great guy.

Oh & the SNL skit went like this:
Rev. Jesse Jackson: "Let's find out what they're playing for, Don Far- Pardo..."
Don Pardo: "It's a CAR! It's a LOVELY car! It's a lovely RED car! It's a lovely red car with a RADIO! Back to you, Reverend!"
Rev. JJ: "Boy, that sounds GREAT!"
IDK why that stuck with me all these years...

S1500 you may wanna tell the folks a bit more about some of those above bands, like that Dan Wilson was in Trip Shakespeare, & went on to be in Semisonic, then did that 90s song "Closing Time" that ALL the bars (around here at least) played at...uhh, closing time.
