  1. $150-$200 still sounds reasonable, I mean a bit more than I'd prefer to pay but seems realistic compared to what I've seen. The games look super cool, it's the hardware issues and entry price that make me a bit hesitant.
  2. @bennybingo: Thank you!!! I'm actually looking to potentially buy. I used to own one a few years back, and I'm a bit nostalgic for some of the awesome arcade ports - Muncher and the Incredible Wizard come to mind. I just wasn't sure how much I should expect to pay for them nowadays. I'll poke around Bally Alley, I just joined the Yahoo Group a few days ago. @boxpressed: Thank you!!! Your blog post was very informative. $90-$120 was what I was thinking I'd have to pay for one. Thank you for the guidelines, particularly the tip to make sure the seller gives the option of a return if it doesn't work after arrival. Good point.
  3. What is the current price for a loose Bally Astrocade, no box, no games, just a fully working console with 2 controllers?
  4. That's nice man!!!! Congrats. The box looks sweet!
  5. Cool $40 sounds around my range. Okay perhaps as a post-Christmas present, I'll get myself one. Should be fun, haven't touched one since the 90s...
  6. Thank you everyone! I'm thinking of possibly getting myself an SNES for Christmas so I can relive some fond memories but I wanted to see how much it would set me back. I'm glad that a fair rate is way below $80 as it just sounded way too high for me. I understand that they're popular but couldn't imagine they'd go for $80 on average. I love the few local retro game shapes but they're way too overpriced. Another store wanted $100. I'll check eBay and see...I may have to wait till after the holidays though as I probably won't have enough to get everyone else gifts plus myself. I'll probably go for a nice looking gray one, I want my SNES to look cool. I'm guessing AtariAge marketplace and eBay are the best places to look?
  7. Curious, what does an SNES go for these days? One with the original gray color, two controllers, TV hookup and power supply? A local store is selling it for $80 but it seems rather high to me...
  8. International Karate looks awesome so far! I would definitely be interested, but then again I'm interested in anything Channel F so I may not be a good test audience. I am going to have a hard time convincing anyone to play Channel F with me so it would be great if one of the players could be controlled by AI so there could be a 1 player option. I wish I knew Channel F programming. My wish would be to hack the Odyssey2 version of Spiderman into Batman. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Frogger would also make a good Channel F game I think.
  9. Jerry Lawson was definitely very cool. I used to watch his retro gaming convention interviews before I got a console, and he was a very good speaker and interesting guy. We definitely lost a gaming treasure when he passed away. I enjoyed his views on the early days of the industry and where it had gone in recent years. C'Mon man...come to the dark side of the Evil Spock universe, you'll fall in love with the Channel F controller, then you'll want to get the Atari 2600 compatible version.
  10. Yes Pac-Man is awesome on the Channel F. In fact it's the reason I bought a Channel F. I play it daily. :-) The Channel F controller is my favorite with its unique design and I find it comfortable to use. Funny you should mention Missile Command as I've always thought a Channel F port of that game would rule. I don't think there's much of a Channel F homebrew scene. E5frog has released Pac-Man and the Multicart but that's it. I'm hoping that will change. :-)
  11. WOW!!! Nice Jag set up!! I see that you're a huge fan. If I do get a Jag, I'll keep the CD in mind, especially since I never owned one when it was originally released. It'll be like the thrill of owning a Jaguar again plus a special treat.
  12. I've been playing Pitfall, still an impressive game!
  13. It's nice to see a positive review of this game. I owned it back in the 90s when I had my Jaguar and it was one of my favorite titles. I thought it was cool that Atari was updating the old school catalog of games, and I found Defender 2000 to be a lot of fun! I remember staying up late, playing this game for hours on end. The graphics are awesome. The backgrounds are beautiful - detailed and rich with color. And I agree, the soundtrack kicks ass! I really got into it. It could've been because I was a kid and a hardcore gamer at the time but I don't remember finding the game impossibly difficult. I remembered getting quite good at it and being super excited the night I reached some warp level, it was pretty cool. The music was killer in that stage. Don't know what I'd think of it now, but it was definitely one of my favorites back in the day. I think I got the Jag in 1996 for my 13th birthday, and Defender 2000 was one of those titles I acquired shortly thereafter.
  14. You can put them in the Marketplace here, I'm sure someone will snatch them up.
  15. I'm in a similar boat, where I'm considering parting with gaming stuff to make some quick cash. So far I've only sold a 2 homebrews. I'd think it over, as I've sold a lot of consoles in the past, only to miss them later and have to pay way more. But if you won't miss it, go for it! Looks nice!
  16. Okay I'm sold on the Jaguar CD! If I do get a Jag, I'd hunt out a Jag CD next. I'm glad that both aren't necessary for a Jag gamer, as it would be pretty pricey to get a Jag CD and a skunkboard. What is Felyx's collection? I'd love to look into it. And I'm glad that programmers like you are still making games for it! Look forward to seeing your work. Okay so some Jag CD's are picky as to what type of recordable CD they prefer (if any)? I also understand that it's hard to find a working Jag CD. Also nice to know that with the JagCD I don't have to have it tethered to the comp, I like to keep my comp and my gaming separate, helps me get in the game zone. :-)
  17. I'm glad to hear that future homebrews will be released on cartridge, since Jaguar CD's seem pretty expensive. I've seen them around $200 at least at the Atari online stores. What is the benefit of the skunkboard? My understanding is that I can download ROMs from my PC and play them on the Jag? I'm a newbie. skunkboard runs around a hundred bucks? Not a bad price for a loose Jag, I'll keep that in mind...
  18. I've been following the Jaguar forum lately and I find it pretty cool that it's having such an after-life. I'm thinking of getting into Jaguar collecting and I had a few questions. How much does a loose Jaguar console with 2 controllers go for these days? Also, the hoembrews seem super cool, it looks like many are released on CD...so I'm assuming a Jaguar CD will be necessary if I want to play homebrews? Likewise a skunkboard?
  19. I think I have re-developed the Atari Addiction. A few years ago I had the 2600, 5200 and 7800. Then I sold the 5200 and 7800 when I thought I was over the bug. Now the 2600 is hooked up in my living room...and I'm tempted to get a Jaguar. I think the addiction is coming back...
  20. That's a good list actually! Tempest 2000, Rayman, and Theme Park were among my faves when I had the Jag back in the day. I haven't played the others but I've heard good things about them too. I won't demand a full recount but I say Zool 2 belongs on that list. How much do Jags go for these days anyway? Sadly I sold mine boxed a few years ago for around just $40 on eBay. It was low demand at the time.
  21. YES!!!!!!!! I was in heaven when I bought Rayman. It quickly became my favorite game on the Jag, period. It was like a cartoon come to life, the game was full of life and bursting with color and originality. It was what I hoped the Jag library would be like. You're making the Jag tempting....
  22. $120 doesn't sound bad at all. Sure the game probably sucks but at least it's one of those rare pieces to show off to my friends..."hey look at this unreleased Jaguar game that hardly anyone's seen." To which I'm sure they'll reply, "and this is why the Jaguar sucked." I'll have to check out Bubsy, it doesn't look so bad to me from YouTube videos but then again I'm a side-scrolling platformer fan so I'm biased. Not bad that Bubsy can be obtained so cheaply, although obtaining a Jaguar console cheaply is another matter...
