    I just finished up my first pen restoration. A Sheaffer Valiant 'Touchdown' filler from the early 50's. A surprisingly simple and satisfying process.

      I guess he means: remove grime, redo original artwork and text, insert new ink tube, adjust spring if used, then reassemble.

      It needed a general clean&polish, nib/feed adjustments, and a rebuild (sac/seal/lube) of the touchdown vac filling mechanism. Now it should be good for another half century.
