Yeah I thought about that. Angled shelves with a lip are real easy to do with them, but they're not as decorative as I'd hoped. Glass-door bookcases and curios are pretty but never have angled shelves.

I build my own shelves. You can do simple one and buy the angle brackets or go a bit fancy like I do and 45 miter some nice wood brackets. I use the pine planks like 1x10 or 1x12 and such.

Scratchbuilding isn't really a good option for me (lack workspace or large tools), but minor things like tacking some pre-finished trim onto an adjustable shelf to make a lip for angling is an option. That might work with a bookcase or linen cabinet.
