  1. The steam Grandia II is really good. It offers 4:3 letterbox option, allows disabling of the stupid lighting effects, 360 pad support is flawless. I've only had one crash, and noticed a couple minor graphical issues--still way better than others popping up these days.

      Yeah, I like to try games even if they don't match my preferences. The last JRPG that I played through was Golden Sun for GBA. I have Last Story sitting here on the shelf in front of me (and a few others). I'm not sure I'll get to them.

      Grandia II's neat in that it overcomes the most railroady of plots, and every cliche in the book, with strong characters, interesting set pieces, neat battle system, and a darn good story. Even the side-quests are baked into the main railroad, and for most of the game, the two possible compass objectives are 'forward' and 'backward.' But it pulls it off. Choo Choo!
