The price on those prebuilt aliexpress gbs-c scalers got too low for me to ignore. I don't think I could make one for that.
-
Yep, it looks like I payed $55, which seems great value. It's faster than my old framemeister and seems to have some different specialties. I'd held off on the tinks/osscs since I'm moving more toward FPGAs with HDMI over scalers, but for that price I couldn't resist. Some day I'd like one of those 4k tinks, but not for many years.

I'm good at overhead racers, but the entire 'F1 Circus' franchise has me beat. I just don't 'get' them.

Ugh. New car purchase day is finally over. Went with a Toyota GR86. Should last 15+ years, I wager.

@Reaperman WOW! What a sweet ride you purchased Reaper. Congratulations on your new vehicle bro. Hope it will give you many years of enjoyment.

The games with 'Mature' ratings are usually the most juvenile

Played MassEffect2 Demo BITD. Big cutscene, then rooms with BS shooting-gallery chest-high walls. Immediately quit series.

You're missing out then as it's got excellent gameplay and story. In my opinion, the best in the trilogy. But, yes, if you're not interested in a cover based 3rd person shooter then it's definitely not the game for you as that's the core of the combat gameplay. It's more linear map-wise without the branching maps than the original but the tradeoff is much better graphics (at least on the original xbox 360 hardware). Obviously 15 years later, the hardware isn't a rate limiting factor.

Still no movement on the Analogue Duo. Not even to UPS yet. What they charge for shipping, it should come SpaceX orbital-direct.

The weird part of sending out ~150 holiday cards, is the yearly 'finding out of who is now dead.'
-
Having access to public address records is a double edged sword. On one hand, it makes it easier to look up if people have moved or kicked the bucket before sending out a letter, on the other hand it gives criminals the same tools to plan their activities. I know Sweden is extreme when it comes to giving out personal information for free - I once identified a person online only based on their city of residence and the name of their dog - but as long as the information is used peacefully it lets me sort my personal address book before sending something.

It's getting hard to home dry clean. I don't think the kids are doing it this generation, and products are getting scarce.

@bent_pin As a fan of M*A*S*H, you brightened up my day. @Reaperman I'll try to find some videos on dry cleaning with household ingredients.

@SlidellMan oh I'm mixing up a tub of that next time I walk past the oxyclean&borax

Discovery: old-guy meal-shake powder can be mixed with 4 cups of coffee instead of water. 💥🤪

Woohoo. Retro Fighters Dreamcast controller preorder came in. Wireless+vibration+hall-effect
-
Hall effect sticks shouldn't ever drift like modern controllers do, so they'll last more than a few years without needing a huge deadzone. original DC sticks used that tech, same with several other sticks of the era, but to my knowledge the retro fighter wireless is the first modern DC controller which features it.

Why'd Darth Maul attack Qui-Gon at all?--especially the one on Tatooine, which really works against their plan. 😕

New projector lamp day, but the screw stripped out, so I now have a bottle cap holding it in. 🤣

The F-Zero in-fiction fans take the whole day off, pay extra for parking, and the whole race takes 1-3 minutes. 🤣

The worst day ever for data center fire suppression testing. Missed the Anne Rice ball last night and Barry Bostwick attending local Rocky Horror tonight.

Cat's limping on the front passenger side today. I'm keeping an eye on it. 🙁😿

Cat's don't take fall damage unless they hit something on the way down. Really doesn't matter what height.
My oldest buddy got into a pan that I left uncovered and too hot and burned his little paw. Vet said keep it cleaned daily and smell it twice a day to make sure that it doesn't smell bad. Important to check if little dude's not better in a day or two.
Hope all is well.

Today was an N64 day. Specifically extreme-G. I'd forgotten I like that soundtrack so much.
-
My last N64 memory was playing Super Mario 64 on an emulator on my laptop while waiting to board a flight. I heard a little gasp behind me and turned to see a 5-year-old watching me play with stars in his eyes.
His father apologized and started to pull him away.
I told him that it was ok and that he could watch while we waited.
The dad said he'd probably try to bug me to watch during the flight which would board in 15 minutes.
I told the dad that it was ok, because I wasn't getting on their flight, rather I was an hour early for the next flight to board from that gate. So, I entertained the kid for about 15-20 minutes.
Good times.

You ever look at an estate sale, and think you probably would have been friends? link

Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.

Turns out it really started coming together with an episode of robot chicken, and ep1 of my name is earl. It'd have been perfect for countless 80's comedies, though. The ones where the poor kids' ______ is being pressured by the rich kids one, who wants to buy them out. So they then engage in a thematic competition to see who gets to stay open.

Warmed up the 7800 setup today. Mega7800+GD really upped my game:

I wasn't really expecting this raspberry pi 5 news. The RP4 was unobtanium back when I was trying, so this works out.

Low Mississippi flow is allowing salt to intrude upriver toward NOLA. So if you're upstream, maybe give us a courtesy flush 😅
