Yeah Best of luck Reaperman,  Looked like quite a disaster...I hope all are well and safe.

Minimal damage to building, trim and siding, lost a single piece of each. last years storm got our roof, so it was sturdy this time. Trees got it bad, though. No flooding, that won't really happen where I'm at.

I'm glad that you made it, and I only got one downed tree in my driveway. Luckily, it didn't hit my Airstream or my Dart.

I've got a GBA and a 48-pack of AA batteries.

I'm still around in Slidell, and all we have gotten is heavy rain and strong wind.

I think the only reason mass evacuation isn't happening is that it's too late for that. Which leaves the wife and I in a weird spot of not knowing if it's still bad enough for us to get called into work. Actually I'd probably rather be at work for the lock-in. I'd have power, A/C, and video games then. (probably have to wear a covid mask even while sleeping, though...)

yep, alpha--coming up on the 9th anniversary too. They don't have the flight model nailed down, don't have travel between systems, no tractor beams, and no interdiction mechanics outside of 'hope they don't run.' But they are on at least revision 3 of their ship insurance mechanics. fun.

Can't pick Oddjob or Jaws. That was the house rules in my group. Oddjob has too small of a hitbox and Jaws is damn near bulletproof.

I never was able to find enough people for MP. I do remember ending up in a 3 way mexican standoff though...and I had the golden gun, though the other two had bazooka's so...

oh good, there are maps too. That saves trouble finding all the different race sensors. Cute easter eggs. This game goes way deeper than I thought.

Oh, Man-I can't relate to the game, don't know it, but it does sound super complicated.

ALWAYS READ THE MANUAL!

I can't tell you how many times I have struggled with something and finally read the manual and it tells me exactly what I was "missing" to do better.

I think it’s Street Fighter’s fault – The sticks are made to go along with 6 button fighting games, like Street Fighter, and default controls often seem to use R1 and R2 (on the game pad) as punch and kick, with L1 and L2 designated to some other function.  So to keep all 3 punches and all 3 kicks together (as in the arcade) while minimizing button remapping, they switched ‘em around a bit

I tried multiple real soundcards (kept buying them to fix it), and various SB spec combos, but I figured it was just a ghost in my MSDOS computer before also saw it on MiSTer. DOSBOX does not seem to have the issue.

That's why I'm hesitant!  "Oh, that looks amazing."  "Wait, it will probably get played for about 15 minutes, or max a day of showing it off to friends, then go on the shelf forever."

Despite the F-Zero anime being on my Bottom Five 4Kids Dubs, that ROMhack is worth checking out.

My guess is that they learned the word by reading it vs hearing it, which speaks more to the vocabulary level of their media or schooling. It's actually possible kids no longer get sent home with lists of vocabulary words.

One of my favorites is 'Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark'--they must have hired military advisors just to get as much as they could hilariously wrong about the uniforms. (SWO pins as collar devices, etc)  'Avalanche Sharks' and 'Ghost Sharks' were also SyFy shark winners.

Every once in a while we get a winner, though. 'Air Doll' is was brilliant movie about how humanity will treat artificial intelligence, and why AI will only ever see the worst in us. It's done without robots. We though it was going to be a light comedy where the punchlines were all 'huh huh, blow-up doll'--nope, sad and thought-provoking. Also the brilliant camera work in 'Cool as Ice' shocked us so much we stopped the movie to look up who did it. "wait, this bad movie is...beautiful"

Oh I saw Cool as Ice too haha...It was cornier than a maze in Iowa, but all in good fun.  I thought it was entertaining.  I watched it for work (Processing a Video On Demand file) and my boss walked in as Vanilla Ice is arguing with the girl's dad, and we both noticed he had the word SEX in big letters on his jacket or something, ...We laughed so hard,   Why did the father not want this guy to date his daughter?    ?

For SyFy movies, after seeing the movie Lavalantula,  we set aside a night especially to see 2 LAVA 2 LANTULA!   Haaa!   The crossover scene with Ian Ziering from Sharknado was hilarious!  He runs past saying he's too busy fighting Sharks to join in the fight against the Spiders!  LOL!

Mobile gaming? That flopped on flip phones. All mobile gaming is a search for whales anyways.

They were a "thing" for a while but got killed off by all those IAPs they forced on people, nowadays companies crank out copies of the same games to get some whales looking for quick thrills hooked.

Apple could have had iOS as a premium mobile platform with games like Infinity Blade but people wanted the same cheap crap that Google provides.  Now the whole Apple Arcade idea is too little and too late, plus a total joke.

Maybe cloud streaming stuff like Xbox Game Pass will take off with mobile gamers and possibily there could be more demand for better phone games that run natively.

Yeah, most of the games that are above mediocre-okay in quality are from 2011-2016. Though, I have heard good things about Alien: Blackout, COD Mobile, and Garena Free Fire. 

Took a few years to go from the arcade to a Nintendo system...definitely a Cruis'n game.

Haha, I don't know what Youtube channels you watch, but yes, that's the only reason I have heard of that game!

Do VCR's do it too? Or is it unique to DVD recorders?

VCRs are a full analog solution, so there will be no lag when recording.

Thinking about it more, if VCRs commonly added lag, our light guns wouldn't have worked. The digital conversion is probably right, but how few pennies did they save by not using an internal splitter/amp setup if they knew they were adding lag?

Took me 3 nights of tries to finish. What do you think I am, Namco? Some kind of robot? ...and now for the rest of the game.

@AtariLeaf: it's become worse in recent weeks.  Friday night, a group of about eight people came by that house, broke most of the front windows, and attempted to kick in the door to gain entry while the residents were away.  Unfortunately, they had left by the time the police arrived, but we've now been advised that there's gang warfare going on between the people next door and at least one other drug-dealing section of our community.  Yay!

I can't help but laugh when some people listen to rap on a phone!   A Game Boy has more Bass. It's like *Click Click * Tweet Tweet, instead of BOOOMMM THUD WUmp BOOOOM!   ANyhow if I so much as turn my SUB on 1,  Even on a metal song,  the wing on my car shakes so much, my view out the back window is distorted.

I have always loved Mad Catz. Particularly their Dreamcast controllers despite the rubber peeling off of them after a year of constant abusive use, it was still an awesome controller. I currently use a rather recent R.A.T. 3 gaming mouse from their recent incarnation. I didn't even know they released a "console"?!

Could be wrong,  but I had some 3rd party PlayStation controller...I'm thinking it was Mad Catz, and upon trying to play Twisted Metal 2,  it would automatically start a 2 player game and the second car would spin around in reverse while firing the machine guns without anyone touching the controls!  Damndest thing.

Yeah, they had their share of 'little brother' controllers, but by the end, madcatz was all about saitek rhino flight sticks, full-on sanwa arcade sticks, etc. Really nice stuff. (of course they still had $15 little-bro controllers, and maybe that needed to be sold under a different brand)
