Hasn't happened yet, and there have been hundred of copyright infringement lawsuits by corporations like Sony and entities like the MCAA and RIAA. They've had no effect. People still hack. People still pirate. You can't legislate greed out of people.
-
Comparing hacking a ps3 to being a pedophile or a mass murderer. Holy shitcakes. Someone ban that troll already. All he does is insult people and post incendiary nonsense. We really don't need this kind of garbage here.

open it and throw away the stupid box. You don't need it. and it will make all these nutty OCD collector's NIB copy of it go up $0.000005 in value.

Or have a Tab on the inside of the cart opening and a slot in the cart guide for the XM only games.

sony to come down hard on owners of hacked ps3 h/w
Underball replied to carmel_andrews's topic in Modern Console Discussion
You mean I might get banned from a service I was never interested in anyway? Oh no, not that. You'd think Sony's focus would be more about going after the pirates who are leaking their games weeks early (that's gotta be an insider at a game publishing company), or going after the torrent sites and download houses like rapidshare who are hosting links to pirated versions of their games. PSN probably represents 5% of their total PS3 revenue. what a bunch of morons. -
I like the Coleco style, So I voted for them. It's nice to see something that sets them apart. But really this poll is kind of pointless, because just like the previous XM poll about the features to be included or not, the people who supported the losing side of the poll will bitch and moan about authenticity and polls being unfair, until they drive everyone nuts and get their way. This place never changes.

how are people not bored with online play yet?

But you suggested that games are to be played, not just watched. You also likened pro sports to childrens games. As if video games aren't targeted at kids. Lol. -

Celtics season ticket holder here! Die Hard all the way, back to the days of Larry and Danny and Chief. -

Not every form of entertainment need be rewarding, involving, or participatory. Sometimes it's nice to just sit and watch, rather than take an active role. Well, I can't meet you there. For me, games are meant to be played. I agree that not every form of entertainment needs to be participatory, but I think games should be. The idea of watching other people play games as a form of entertainment in itself blows my mind. This is just plain silly. There's a vast difference between professional level sports, and dudes sitting on their couch playing video games. Just because I know the rules of basketball and can hit an NBA 3-pointer on occasion doesn't mean I should be allowed to walk into the Boston Celtics practice gym and demand a tryout from Danny Ainge. Same goes for other forms of entertainment too - Music and Movies. I've been playing guitar for 18 years. I've even toured and played in some bands that were pretty big regionally in Boston. That doesn't mean I can just walk on stage at Gilette Stadium and push the Edge aside and start playing for U2. -

Not every form of entertainment need be rewarding, involving, or participatory. Sometimes it's nice to just sit and watch, rather than take an active role. I love watching movies. I'm a huge film buff with an enormous collection of films on DVD and Blu-Ray. It's probably my favorite form of Entertainment, with games/music tied for second. But for years now, I cannot stand going to the movies at the theater much anymore, because a good portion of the other people in the theater are often loud, disruptive, disrespectful, and just generally annoying to be around. This same thing applies to online gaming. It was fine when it was a small collection of people I know and like. But the reality is, most people suck to deal with. -

If you're a dad of 2 then you clearly have more responsibility in your life, and likely don't spend every non-working waking moment in front of a video game, than the Part-Time Kinkos clerks living in their mom's basement I was talking about. -

I'm not so much bored with it, but really just have little interest in it. I play games as entertainment. An Escape from the stresses if the real world. I did a fair but if online quake iii and doom back in the day and usually found it to be repetitive and tedious. But at least back then it was over a LAN with real life friends. Today's online gaming tends to be overtaken by screaming, petulant 13 year old wannabe gangsta mushmouthed morons, and perpetually butthurt 40 something shut-ins who live in their moms basement, and have no social life outside I'd their sad online gaming world. People I would avoid in all other situations in life. No thanks. I'd rather beat the ai. -
All I've said from day one in this thread is that I'd like to know what games are coming out, and to be able to see them in action before I buy. I know it's real. I'm not doubting it's existence or relative progress. Don't lump everyone into two sides. I want to see what the XM is capable of. I'm not nearly as unreasonable as others here. The specs have been done for months. Several games are nearly completely coded. I think a good video representation of what it can and will do would serve to silence most if not all of the criticism. What I balk at is the fact that no one wants to show off their work. Curt does, obviously. But I want to see Grooveybee and the others put their money where their keyboard is. Show us something great. I don't think that's asking too much. You want several hundred of my dollars? Cool. Show me why.

I see!! You said your peace... We get it!! No need to keep repeating yourself! Good lord!!! Read this post back to yourself. Slowly if need be. Note the irony in what you're telling me to do. (or more correctly, not do.)

I checked in to see if there were any updates. There aren't. Just a lot of people telling one guy that he isn't entitled to an opinion if it isn't a glowingly positive sycophantic overture for the XM and everyone working on it.
-
It amazes me the lengths to which some people will go to deny people their right to an opinion on this site. I guess no one should ever be critical of the food they are served in a restaurant if they aren't a chef by profession? Unbelievable. Actually, I take that back. It's actually typical around here.
-
Psx-scene already debunked it as false. There's just so much going on right now that it's hard to keep it straight.
-
Because as usual, they haven't a clue what theyre talking about. These articles are written to incite people, and up clickthrough counts fir advertising dollars. Sensationalist fluff. And the unban tool doesn't actually exist. It was from a blog post by a known liar who has claimed numerous times he's hacked this and that, but never posted anything more than photoshopped mockups.

sony to come down hard on owners of hacked ps3 h/w
Underball replied to carmel_andrews's topic in Modern Console Discussion
And this is precisely what Sony is hoping happens. -
How would this have anything to do with credit card fraud? You would still need that person's PSN username and password for that. That's not tied to your console Id. It's your email and password, and that's stored ON the PSN network, not locally on your computer.
-
where will Sony go from here? Relaunching a more secure version of the PSN is where it will go. One that isn't tied to console ID's and the now cracked encryption code of the consoles themselves. It's really not that hard. There are tons of online subscription services that are virtually hack-proof that aren't tied to proprietary hardware. And it would cost a whole lot less to remedy than just junking the PS3 in favor of a new console (PS4).
-
Moycon's example doesn't really gel with anything anyone here has said about hacking the PS3 though. No one here has been advocating piracy or illegal activity. He's being hyperbolic because he doesn't really have a valid argument. and yeah - that stuff is bunk.
-
Apparently it's just a blanket email, and Sony really has no idea who is hacked or not, other than people running modded games.
-
Double post. Stupid iPhone.
-
I have a Jailbroken PS3, but have not received the email. But then - I have not been on the PSN since I hacked it either.
