  1. Auto Salvage yards are privately run businesses. They carry insurance, pick and choose the parts/cars they sell, and deal mostly with local mechanics who are also insured. Comparing a tiny local business to a city facility isnt an apt comparison. And the fact is, we the old, dirty console collecting retro video game enthusiasts are an absolutely marginal minority. 99.99999999999% of the general public doesn't give two shits about old Sega consoles. Thus, any attempt at a town dump run old electronics store would be a money losing disaster. In case you forgot, we're the weirdos in this.
  2. Nobody really even thought of (or cares, for that matter) about yours. He just meant to say that what he is offering a professional-looking product. He is. Here are pics of the one I received from Stoneage: You don't have to admit that it looks professional. Let the others in the thread decide for themselves. In my opinion, it is professional and I am very happy with the package. HA! Your history here, as well as the fact that you'd argue over something so trivial indicates otherwise. You hassled the people working on the 7800 expansion module, polluting the thread with vitriol and antagonizing the other readers, and you're up to your old tricks again, here. Stoneage may be a seller, but he is not here solely to promote his product. There are others selling on here all the time, there are very few "for sale" messages from Stoneage. Check some of the other users activity in the Marketplace thread, and compare. The times Stoneage posted, it was of extreme interest to me, and I am certainly glad that he did. Others likely feel the same way. He replied directly to my post, quoting it, stating that most people want a more professional package. He merely stated what he was selling, after you attempted to dump on his package. He doesn't know what yours looks like, does he? Nobody does. It's ludicrous to think he was referring to yours....why would he (or anybody else) know or care about yours? They don't. You're just up to your old tricks, attempting to antagonize people, as you did so relentlessly in the 7800 expansion module thread. More professional than the hamfisted hack I would have, on my first attempt. I have no doubt I could probably get proficient at making my own, but probably not the first one. Thing is, I only need one, so it made excellent sense for me to buy from Stoneage. Maybe not for you, but it did for me, and the fact that he keeps selling out probably means that it does for other people - this is in demand, and for good reason. Gee, ya think? Well, maybe you can learn not to do that. You didn't start this thread; you just entered it to create turmoil, once again, like the 7800 Expansion Module thread. (1) You assumed "better" was a reference to your cartridge, that nobody has seen (and therefore wouldn't know and wouldn't reference because it wouldn't make sense to do so) and that nobody cares about. (2) You like to argue and dump on products that other people are producing and/or selling. You've proven this, prior to this thread. Everybody should "consider the source" when reading your complaints. I can't stand to see honest, forthright sellers badgered like this. It's hard enough to find a decent seller, with all the scammers and half-asses out there. Stoneage has an excellent reputation here, and that was proven to me when I ordered. He does EVERYTHING right. Why would anybody reasonable want to hassle such a seller? It just doesn't make sense. This ^^^ is a giant load of bull. I'm not badgering anyone. I made a post, and did not address Stoneage until he addressed me first. I asked him what he meant by "more professional" and he went on a tirade. I didn't hassle him, or anyone else. but a bunch of people jumped in after the fact to defend him (and Rex Dart agreed with me, in case you weren't really paying attention.) I don't have a problem with Stoney. He makes a nice product, it you want to buy it all premade for you. No one here has said different. Clearly though, he has an issue with me, and I know from what it stems. I'm not going to dredge up the past though. He's got a good reputation here and I'm not going to try and tarnish it over a silly misreading of a quote that got a few people in a frenzy. Stoney - I'm sorry I misread your quote. It seemed a bit snarky to me, but if it wasn't really meant for me and was just a general statement of fact, then I apologize.
  3. Supposedly, the reflash limit is in the billions per byte. So it will likely outlive all of us, unless you're flashing it constantly 24 hours a day.
  4. Maybe I shouldn't have quoted you because I was more making a statement and not directly addressing you. So I do apologize for any miss-communication. However, you still insulted me in your reply that had nothing to do with your issue with what I said or with the thread. I have yet to see you address this. Maybe its because you believe it. If that's the case I guess no apology needed. However, that makes your last statement that you have no problem with me false. You can PM me if you want, I don't want to high jack this thread anymore with off topic stuff. No, I didn't. I asked how yours are more professional. "I get that most of the reason you're here is to promote your product." It's an insult to point out that you're a reseller now? Dude, look at your signature. It's an advertisement. You're here promoting the products you sell. Sure, you engage people in other areas, and answer tech/support questions about the products you sell. that's what a good reseller si supposed to do. Nobody said you didn't.

  6. Again, you're reading way more in to his reply than was intended. Yes, he quoted you because he was responding to you. You wrote: He simply replied that some people don't want to buy a bare cart and would prefer to spent more for a complete "more professional" package. There was nothing in his reply that even came close to putting down your cart in any fashion. If you want to start bending words, you could easily read in to what you posted as saying "Genesis collectors would be stupid to spend more on a ED with a shell, as they should have everything they need to make it themselves". I don't think you intended it to come across that way, but it could seem like that to some people. Plain text on a computer monitor can be read in a million different ways. So now how about you and SAG hug, shake hands and make up See- I get what you're saying here, but when I made my comment about how easy it was to make a cart of my own, I didn't quote Stoney, because I wasn't addressing him. That's the whole point. When you quote someone, it's logically implied that your comment is directed at the previous person's comment that you quoted. There is an etiquette to this stuff. It isn't just plain text. That's why the quoting feature exists. For the record, I don't have a problem with StoneAgeGamer. If people find value in paying what he charges for doing the cart/label work for them, then everybody goes home happy. I simply found it more economical and rewarding to do it myself.
  7. There are plenty of people that want a more professional package and are not interested in doing it themselves. The EverDrive-MD Deluxe Edition is a huge seller because of this. The great thing about the ED is that you have the choice of doing it yourself or not. You have no idea how professional or not mine looks. You're just assuming yours is better. I don't want to get into an argument with you. I get that most of the reason you're here is to promote your product. StoneAgeGamer wasn't putting down your cart. He was simply explaining why some stores, like the one you purchased from, offer a cheaper price. No reason to get bent out of shape about it. He replied directly to my post, quoting it, stating that most people want a more professional package. More professional than what???? Maybe I took it the wrong way from some people's point of view, but when you quote someone on these boards, it's inferred that you are replying directly to their comment. I didn't critique his work, or his store. I only mentioned that I had a good experience with the vendor I bought from. I guess I just didn't understand teh need for the "more professional" comment.
  8. You BOUGHT a MAME CD? MAME is Free. Selling it is a BIG no-no.
  9. That depends entirely on the particular AtariAge Moderator for a given section, and their personal opinion of things.
  10. This fuggin' guy. It's not "your page". It's a thread, on a forum. Your hack is not special. It's been done 1,000 times over by a dozen other people - years ago. No one will buy it. cut it out, this is just getting silly now.
  11. Currently there is only the Schell's Cuttle Cart 2 (CC2). However, these are expensive. There is also the H2 in development (search the forums for more information). Im. Mis. has had a working, fixed version for years. You can have Albert make you one in the Atariage store.

  13. I ordered mine from Kitsch-bent, the first online reseller Igor (Krikzz) started using. Cheaper list price than others who are reselling the Everdrive. Shipping was blazing fast. It didn't come with a cart or a case, but what Genesis collector out there doesn't have at least one unwanted sports title to sacrifice for this? 2 minutes with a small pair of wirecutters (to cut the hole for the SD card) and a soldering iron (to make a round hole for the SMS pause button) and I was in business. There are a dozen or so already made labels you can print out on a sticky paper and apply to it.
  14. If you want the original brushed metal look to be clean and pristine, why not just order one from Best?
  15. Yeah, I do. They would make a profit charging admission. Then they would also be subject to lawsuits and insurance claims resulting from any mishaps with the recycled goods. It's got nothing to do with recycling being a "scam" or short sighted municipal dunces, and everything to do with liabilities and covering their butts.
  16. Yep, basically that is it. After that, if you want composite out just insert your favorite amplifier circuit of choice at the point where is says "C video J2-3" right before the RF modulator, disconect the RF if you wish (cleans up the picture still and unloads the circuit a little), and away you go. I also disconected the sound mixer circuit for the RF (I believe removing C9 does the trick), as you dont need to be mixing sound with picture any more if you toss the RF box. I put my amplifier board where the old RF box was. Cheers! Already have the "Easier 7800 composite video mod" in place. When I get some time, I will play around with this and post results. Maybe even add this to the Easier 7800 video Mod Thread as an addenda.
  17. +1 You need to change a few resistors and switch a few things around if you want to fix the way the 7800 displays "dull" 2600 colors. Yeah, I know it's not hard, but does anyone have a wiring schematic for doing this mod? I'd love to do it while I have some free time coming up. I don't have a schematic. There might be some floating around the internet. I do have a basic diagram of where the problem is and what needs to change. The 2600 signal is compromised so that when in 7800 mode there will not be interference. The value of R17 is too high (low signal) to allow good colors. They should have used a switch (like I show in diagram) or an "OR GATE" like U3 to toggle between the chroma signals instead of just crippling the 2600 signal. The luma ladder values are a little high for a simple video amp. I cut all their values in half. I disconected the RF completely. My 7800 is just as bright in 2600 mode as a heavy sixer... I know this post isn't complete, but I hope it helps a little. Ok. so let me see if I follow properly here: R16 and R17 get combined, so you replaced R17 with a lower value resistor, (maybe 2.2k?) and then put a toggle switch in between the combiation point, so that the now higher TIA chroma output wouldn't bleed and cause intereference? Makes sense. I will have to warm up the soldering iron and have a go at it. I could hide the toggle under the side, next to the A/V ports I added from the composite mod. Sweet.

  19. That dial is a color bias/hue control. It has nothing to do with the color brightness or saturation.
  20. let me stop you right there. Indeed; what more is there to say? They're awful, end of story. To some people. Not everybody. I prefer them to the awful europads.

Don't get all your panties in a bunch. Igor won't be doing a 7800 everdrive. Period. Not a big enough audience. He does these things to make money. The 7800 collector market is just way too small, and the number of games total doesn't make it worth it for him. wiht him, it's not a labor of love like the CC2 or the Harmony cart, being made by true Atari aficionados like Chad Schell and batari.

The cc2 doesn't use flash memory. It uses mmc cards. So many wrong assumptions in here. Lol

The Cuttle Cart 2 absolutely does not suck, and GeoHot didn't do anything relevant. He copied other peoples work.
  24. Which is most of the reason why it sold as well as it did, and the reason why that lackluster HD-DVD crap is gone, and Blu-Ray is the defacto standard, instead of dragging out some stupid HD format war longer than it needed to be. I like the fact that the PS3 is also a blu-Ray player, and that the PS2 was a DVD player. I don't like having 40 gadgets attached to my TVs.
