  1. Totally agree with you on all points Tig. The game is one of the classics that I'll always remember from my early childhood (along with Pitfall II and Alpha Beam with Ernie). The replayablity is just superb.

On topic, I've never seen anything higher than the white dragon. What are the colours again? It's been a long time since I've plugged anything into my Atari.

I remember (in no particular order) green, red, blue, purple, black, and white.

  2. Hey all... I was checking out some box scans for some references to drawings I'm working on and noticed that Berzerk came with a comic. I looked at the comics page and didn't see it there. Does anyone have one? If so, could you scan it? I'd really like to see what it was.

    Thanks,

  3. If I remember correctly...

The Brothers Chap (HSR guys) actually wrote the story for the game and are totally in cahoots with the project. The problem lies with, what else, atari. A lot of the monsters/bad guys you fight in the game were going to be Atari characters. I don't think Atari much cared for that and got in a huffy about it. Thus, work was halted until either permission could be obtained or some reworking of the story could be made.

  4. Meh.. keep it closed... It might actually have some value then.

It is very much an NTSC release. It was one of the first games I got when I got my 2600 a few years ago. I made it to the sphinx a few times and beat it once. That was good enough for me. I just really don't like the game at all.

  5. Is anyone besides me automatically suspicious these days when someone with an extremely low post count announces that they have (or better yet, someone they know has) an extraordinarily rare item?

I'm with ya. Of course I don't really trust anyone. Especially not here (no offense anyone) after the Flexured/Airworld incident.

  6. Why am I not going to buy it?

I already have a 2600. My gramma's from way back in the day, a heavy 6er. It plays my 100+ games b-e-a-utifully. I can use that $30 on something else, too. I can buy anywhere up to 120 new Atari carts with that (though that'd be mostly commons I already have). I could pay part of my rent for next year. A few good CDs. Plenty of other useful stuff out there that I could buy. I have a 2600 and I don't think it's going kaput on me any time soon.

The last reason I'm not buying it is b/c I don't want to support this "Atari." It's just a re-hashing of the games I already own. You say they worked hard to bring this to us. They put a few roms that other people programmed years ago into a moulde. Big woop. I dunno, I just really don't see the need for all this hoopla when most of the people on here do indeed love the 2600 and like the real deal. I know I prefer that over this 40-in-1 thing.

  7. B-E-A-utiful game. Definitely one of my favourites from back in the day and one I typically pull out when I play these days. It was repetative but it was also pretty challenging. I give it an A++

  8. Get a Genny controller if your hands hurt so bad, I know its not the same, but it is a solution.

    -kemsted

There are numerous 3rd party joysticks that are easier to grip and handle too.

And speaking of uncomfortable controllers, I hate the ones for xbox. It's like trying to hold one of those old Thermos lunchboxes. I have fairly good sized hands and long fingers, but man... those things are tough to handle IMHO.

  9. Desert Falcon was one of the first games I got when I got my VCS a few years ago. I got it complete and shrinkwrapped for christmas. I can totally relate with sandmountainslim on this one. While there are some cool things about this game (ie the glyphs) I just found it too difficult to get through a board w/o getting smashed. I think I've only beaten the Sphinx once. Trying to line up a shot in this game is just beyond me I guess. Not all bad, but I would rather use my VCS time playing something else.

  10. When I read the topic I thought you plugged it into the other port and was wondering how it worked. I've kept an eye out for a track ball but have yet to see one around these parts. Good score on finding it and thats not a bad score for Reactor either. Personally I don't think I ever got it above 5,000 if even that much.

  11. It's been a while since I played but if I remember correctly, you can drop a decoy which attracts the other dots that are flying around trying to hit you or whatever. You can use it as a means to knock them into the wall. I guess the number just tells you how many decoys you have left. Hope that helps.

  12.  I'm guessing I'm in the minority here.

    Yeah, pretty much...

I've played FF from 1-7 and MQ. I felt gipped that Christmas when we got MQ and after I played it. Good game to get started on but it really lacked any depth what-so-ever.

Anywho, I think that my fave RPG of all time might have to be FF IV (II SNES). It was my first and I really love the story and the characters.

Destiny of an Emperor and FF1 also come to mind.

And how would you classify games like Zelda? I consider Zelda II (as well as Castlevania II) to be somewhat RPG-ish. You gain levels, travel about from town to town. I consider them action RPGs. What about you guys?
