Hi everyone Ha ha th Dating comments. Ok back to all Serious note. Some of the Early Atari Pong system had letters following the Serial numbers also. Then others had the letter before the Serial number . I have one Atari Pong System and the Serial number is A 90371. Why Atari Choose the Letter "E" after the serial number not sure. I am really wanting to know what the First Serial number was used on the Atari 2600 systems too. Mine is not a Double Sticker but I thought those were transistion units from the Heavy Sixers to the Light Sixers. I could be wrong and if I am please correct me. Everyone mentions they were silver stickers and the newer Atari's used the Silver boxes too,so I am really not sure. I was hoping to find someone who knew for sure on this issue. Thanks Sean

Hi Everyone Look I am very interested in finding out one thing. Atari Started making these Atari 2600 system in 1977. Ok I have Serial number 57020 E with a date code inside of it that say 7722 which is 1977 in the 22nd week. My question is to everyone and even the ones who worked at Atari also. What Serial number did Atari Start out with on the First Unit?? I know there had to be Heavy Sixer Units made before mine, but I have not seen any listed yet,but the number 57020 E tells me there had to be many units before mine. It seems that the all the First 2600 units all had the Letter " E " following ther serial number. I know this is a hard question to answer but really what was the first Serial number that was made or sold????? I have wondered this for a very long time. Also since the first units were sold in 1977 did the first unit actually have any chips in side of them with a date code like 7650 or in that range... My serial number is 57020 E and it has date codes 7722 if we go back on the Serial numbers then the chips have to get older with earlier date codes. So did the first 1977 machines actually have some Chips produced in 1976 inside of them????? I mean the parts could be made before the unit even hit the market in 1977, and ther could be a possibility of having 1976 chips in side of these units that were first sold in 1977. I talking about the very first Atari 2600's ever sold. Maybe like the first 100 units may have older parts than 1977 in them. It only a thought. Thanks Sean

Here is the Date code found in my unit with the Serial number 57020 E What is the date code found in the unit that in the oldest slot? I am just currious. I am not saying it not the oldest but it would be nice to know the date code found in the unit or on the actual computer chips. I would love to see more older units show up. Because it made me think what has happen to all the machines that had older Serial numbers. Sorry Post 832 shows a photo of the date code found on my unit. Thanks Sean

Please show me a older Serial number. I know a new list is being made up. Also on the old list does anyone have a date code found on the unit that place as the oldest one. I know most the units have a Serial number followed by the Letter " E "... The unit shown does not that is placed as the oldest unit. Sorry Post 826 show photos of my unit Serial number

Good idea! I could whip that app out in no time. I will do up a prototype UI, ask for feedback, refine, and so on. I'll post a new thread with link when done. I've already got this done and just need to fine tune it a bit, then pass it over to Al... long live the heavy sixer list Hi it your Friend Sean I see you turn the list over.. This list is getting confusing to me. I know at one time I held the oldest unit with the Serial Number 57020 E and the Date Code of 7722 for 1977 in the 22 week.. So did I loose that now. Did someone find an older heavy Sixer unit. Sean

Hi Everyone I was wondering. I have already Posted Pictures in earlier Post. This is now getting confusing. I was Wondering Withe the Serial # 57020 E Do I still have the earliest unit with the Date code of 7722 Which is 1977 in the 22nd week. If someone does have an older unit which Serial number is it and what date code is on the unit??? Also if possible who has it? Sean

Hi Everyone I have been up here before and on other Forums. I need to know one question .. When Atari First Started to make the Pong systems for Sears in 1975 under the name Tele Games What serial Number did they start out at??? I have seen many of the White Color Tele Game Pong Systems. I have one with the Serial # A 90371 Now on the Chip in side is the Date code 7540.. Now is 1975 in the 40th week.... Has anyone come accross an older Serial number and Date code on the inside Chip??? I just thought it the A 90371 actually stands for the 90,371 unit made what happen to all the units made befor this one. Any help would be great Thanks Sean

Hi Everyone Thanks for the Info. The one with the Clear ribbon and Green Board is Serial # 57020E.. Which if you look at the Heavy Sixer List this unit would fall into being the Oldest one on the List. The First one on the List makes no sense since Atari Followed their Serial numbers with the Letter E on The First Heavy Sixers made in 1977.. Sean

Hi I have two different Power Adapters. I know the second one in the Photos is usually found in the Heavy Sixer Sets. Can anyone tell me anything about the First Power Adapter. It made in California but just not the same place as the Decks were made. LOS GATOS,CA Also I notice in the top left corner it says Pat Pend..Which means Patend Pending. Was this so early that Atari was waiting on the Patend??? Not Sunnyvale,CA where Almost the early Heavy Sixers were made. Any info would be a huge help.. Sean

Hi now that that is back out. I have a Machine that has the Serial number 57020 E very old Machine. I wish I could find the ones my father talked about. They were suppose to be all pulled out of the Stores in 1977. Here the machine I am talking about in 1977 the Stores displayed Atari CX-2600 but they did not work on Channel 2 or 3. They hook to a small black square looking monitor. These Atari machine actually use composite Video and sound. They would hook up to the small size monitor and give a much clearer picture than the ones you bought. Well Atari pulled them out of the Stores and I do not know if any did survive. they do exist if Atari did not destroy them. This info came from my dad. I do have all the first 9 cartridge realease in 1977 with the numbers on the end lables. The ones you do not see much more of. I also have a pair of CX-10 joy sticks in mint Condition as well for the Paddles. Well I know this should be on the Atari 2600 area. Now that not all I have I have a original Atari 400,800,130XE all in wonderful working condition. I have much more but it would take for ever to list it all. I just wanted to get back up here and make some good friends. 1983 my father went to the east cost after Atari had their problems I will say. My dad started to work for an electronic company in Viriginia and eventually went to work for Raytheon Corp. Anyways I saw pretty cool electronics from atari growing up. I am now up in age but that ok. I was 9 when they started to work on the 2600 and by the time they hit the store I was very close to 10 years of age. I thought they hit the store in October of 1977. Not sure it so long ago that my memory not that good anymore. Special note those machines ith composite Video and Sound were for store Displays only and were never sold. Now you can see how rare they would be if you found one. Sean

Yes I don't mention that much, but wow you remember that. It was my dad who did work for them. Sean

Yes it was my Father.

Thank you so much. I have seen so many with the red cables and then the clear cables. Well I really did not know which ones they were using first when they Started to make thes machines. Sean

Boy I guess in the two years I have been gone everyone I knew has disapeared from the 8 bit computers. Well it would be nice to make some new friends too. I see many people have looked but no repsonses. Two years ago everyone use to say hi to people coming back to the web site. Well I guess things have changed, and this is no longer the way it use to be. Well I guess that I am getting old and do not know how things work now. Sean

I'd love to see the schematic for this system. I'd even like to try and re-fab one with some upgrades. Hi My name is Sean I have that System too. All I have is Cartridge 1.. I would love to have the other three Cartridges for it. Anyways I did not know if anyone knew of anyone who would want to sell Cartridges 2 through 4. I really need them Sean

Hello My name is Sean. When I was younger my father did work for Atari, and I am not sure if he was sub contracted at the time. My father pass away in 2003 so I cannot ask him this question, but I am hoping someone can. I notice alot of Serial numbers followed by the letter E which I am assuming those are the oldest. I have two machines that date in 1977 ,but I need to know something about the physical construction inside of them. I will up load pictures so every one can see what I am talking about too. First I have notice some machines have the Red ribbon cable that runs from the main CPU board to the swithch board. Also some of them have the clear like green tinted color ribbon cables. Which cables did they use first the red ribbon cables or the clear ribbon cable that seem to have a green tint to them. Please take a look at my pictures to see what I am talking about. I also notice on the red cables they are not solder both ends plug into a socket while the green tinted cables are solder on the CPU board and plug into a socket on the switch board. Well I am hoping that someone knows the answer to this question or worked at Atari and saw what cables were used first. Thanks Sean

Hi it me Sean Anyways I posted pictures of the bottom of my system here the rest of it. The picture will be fair since this camera does not take the greatest picture. I hope to get a better camera for taking pictures. The other ones were scaned on a very large scanner that gave great photos. Well this is my unit Serial # 57020E Thanks Sean

Sadly, no. He passed away March 2002, which is around the time my grandma asked me if I would like to have the system and of course I said yes. Prior to him passing away, we would play it together when I'd go over to visit for holidays or other random occasions. The last time I played Combat (or any game) with him was probably Christmas 2000 or 2001 just before his health was going down. Sad to hear this but it´s good to know that you own a very very special H6er. You don´t need to hook it up to get some fun out of it.......... Sean Very Nice System and it really cool you have the very original Controlers that I had to pay a fortune to get in mint condition. Yes Those CX-10 Controler and Paddles are very hard to get in mint working condition. Let just say I want perfect working CX-10 Controlers and in Mint Condition and I ended up paying a $185.00 just alone for the Joysticks. These are Original CX-10 from 1977 but not use hardly at all. Anyways like I told you while I was in the Military my father threw out the Atari 2600 he had received from working with Atari. Anyways I figure it had to have a very low Serial number, but that in the Past. I have had to pay alot to get something like you have put together...I bought my deck, then my Joysticks, Then my Paddles, and then the Power adapter(very hard to find one made in Cal. and not Japan). Then I purchased the original 1977 book then the TV switch Box,and the the original 1977 Manual, and then an original 1977 Box... Let me tell you hold on to it because for me to put a complete original 1977 Atari in the Box has cost me a small Fortune. This is because I only wanted 1977 Items and none could date from 1978. I do have all original fist 9 games that did come out in 1977 and boy was that tough to do also. Boxes for game are hard to fine. The Gate folded type. Anyways you have the right ideal never sell it off pass it down to your kids because that is what I am doing with mine. I may not have the orginal one my dad received from Atari but at least I can give my Daughter the story of her grandpa playing the Atari with me. Anyways I am only 4 years older than you. My daughter is young because I had her very late in life and her mother died at a very young age due to a very bad car wreck. Another driver hit my wife near Christmas time in 2006. It took all my family except my daughter. We lost grandparents and so many other family members. Which included my wife. My daughter just turned 11 this year in December.. She was 7 going on 8 when she lost her mother,so that pretty young to loose a mother and grandparents. Also other relatives. Your Friend Sean Also Pretty strange to have the same name.

That is really cool your family bought one in 1977. So how old were you at the time?? I was approximately 1,825 days old in 1977 Have you seen my pictures that I recently posted here on AtariAge? Take a look at my Atari Goodness. Anyway, I'm moving on to other threads and let this one get back to tracking the serial numbers for heavy sixers... cool that your dad worked for Atari. I bet he's got some cool stories. You should start a unique thread and post some pictures and stories from him. Wow you were only five years old. Boy you were really little back then. Boy I was near nine years of age. I had to go back and really think about it. Yes I was 9 years old..Well I guess being 4 years older than you was not much. Sean

That is really cool your family bought one in 1977. So how old were you at the time?? It really cool you have the receipt and the box still. My parents said those things were running around $199.00 back then..My dad gone now and my mom memory not so hot now. She said it may have even been $250.00.. So I am not sure what they paid on our First machine. This is not it. My dad through it out while I was in the military.. It would have had a really low serial number since he bought it before it even hit the Stores. That was one advantage he had for doing work for atari. These are not the Rare one anyways. My father told me that atari pulled all the Atari's from the store show case ones. The Store ones actually hooked up to a Monitor. A small square looking monitor these were never sold. Instead of having the RF modulator where your date is found that was left out of the Store units. See then they could run a cable out with Composite Video and Audio to a Monitor. Finding one of those original early Atari monitors would be cool and a store Atari. They are extreamly Rare because they were suppose to be all pulled and returned back to Atari and destroyed. I know of only one person who found one two years ago. He paid $500.00 just for the main unit. No monitor,Joysticks or anything just that store Atari. I figure they are worth more than $500.00.. Sean

Hi the First Picture is of the insides That code date 7722 the other one has a date code of 7736( the one with the red cable). Anyways you can see the difference.

WOW your machine and my Machine are only 4 weeks apart.
