  1. Hi again MR. Rideout, Just got home from work and thought I would pop in for a sec to see if any added anything to the list . and boy howdy did you , a Resizable grid is doable for sure as well as numbering the grid, mirroring, upside down, flip Ect. I thought about those right away and then I thought Wait a Sec maybe they only wanted somthing like Attendo made because he had asked and the 2600 IDE was the result. I am thankful for the input Mr. Rideout. Well i am gonna start from scatch and create a new interface and go from there. RandallD
  2. Hi there Mr.rideout, Below is a picture of the Initial sprite Editor it is essentially the same as Attendo's version. Is there any thing else you can think of that it needs ?. later on this will be merged with the playfield editor when all the features for this are done. things left to do: 1. output file to clipboard so it can be pasted in to code from Crimson. 2. Add suggested features. Next project will be the playfield editor and that will be based on TIA Paint 1.0 since it is feature complete. I will be posting source code as well as a binary to the sprite editor in a couple of days or so (got a day off coming the 19). so let me know if there is anything you can think of that might be nice for the sprite editor and i will put it in for ya. RandallD
  3. There are a few things Crimson Editor doesn't have that would be nice, like a hex editing mode, or file comparison, but you can get separate freeware programs for those, and then you should be able to set up tools for them in Crimson Editor. Also, Crimson Editor doesn't have any 2600-specific tools, like a playfield editor or player sprite editor, which 2600IDE does have. Anyway, I'm glad you got it working now! Michael Hi Mr.Rideout, Can't a playfield editor be wrtten in say some version of basic for windows and then just spit out sprite data as 1's and 0's ?, should be possible with Just basic (www.Justbasic.com), I think Attendo used an older form of Rapid Q for the 2600 IDE. I may take a crack at building an app for sprites and playfields. using the above program. RandallD
  4. I've gotten it to work with 2600IDE before, but it can be quirky to get it working correctly, due to the batch file issue. Once you finally get everything situated and working, it's okay after that, but it's getting it working the first time that's difficult. Also, if I remember correctly, the batch file might need to be in the same directory where your program code is, or maybe it has to be in your startup (initial) folder-- I forget the specifics, although if you search for some of my older posts, you should be able to find where I talk about the batch file issues. Also, be careful with your directory path names, because in general a directory path with a space in it can cause problems. Crimson Editor does work better, though-- not to diss 2600IDE by any means, because it's fine at what it does and it filled an early need; but Crimson Editor is just a much more robust, full-featured IDE, and has been under development for a longer period of time, plus you can configure it for multiple types of compiles, multile emulators, etc. For example, I have Crimson Editor set up with "tools" to compile bB programs, compile assembly programs, run programs in Stella, run programs in z26, and run programs with the modified version of z26 that works with 4A50 bankswitching, etc. Michael Hi there Mr. Rideout , I have installed Crimson Ed, man this editor is a programmers dream come true !m I mean WOW it has every thing and the kitchen sink to boot . Well i am gonna search for some of your older posts to see how to set this up with bb, thanks to you and Mr. Quimby for being so helpful . Edit: got it setup and running now , works great ! RandallD
  5. There could be a problem with environment variables (you made no mention of them.) Or maybe it's with 2600IDE, as this program was designed for an early version of bB and never updated, and it tries to create its own batch file (2600baside.bat) for compiling (which is incorrect, and must be overwritten with a copy of the one included with bB 1.0.) Also with some versions of Windows, some small changes might need to be made to the batch file (I can't remember what those are offhand, but if you search the forum, you should be able to find out.) hi there Mr. Quimby, yes I have set the Environment variables as Stated above , and I am using the latest version of everything except 2600 IDE, so I will try to use crimson Editor instead as you have stated that 2600 IDE makes a broken batch for compiling. for the info on 2600IDE. I will try it when i come home from work tonight. RandallD
  6. I set up the Bbatari basic package with 2600IDE as described in the readme file and I am using Z26 as my emulator. now when I go to compile "Sample.bas", I get a file named "Sample.bas.bin" but it is 0 Kb and Dasm reports that it is compiled. so what am i doing wrong ?. thanks for any help you can give me. setup is : windows xp sp2 build 2600, batari 1.0, latest Dasm, with Modified Autoexec.nt File located in C:\windows\system32 with a system restart thrown in for good measure, build Area is in: C\atari2600\bb. 7. I always liked Galaxian and laser gates demo modes although i have to agree with the majority that journey was very cool too.
  8. well although I am new here I have to say that your fellow AA member(s) below have been great to deal with: 1. IGG1NA - transaction type: Ebay products: 7800, Flashback2, 38 games 7800 and 2600 mix in a very well packaged box that I cannot keep the cats out of , they love playing with those damn styro foam packing peanuts !. system(s) function and look as described as well as the games themsleves, everything went smooth and by the numbers all in all a great guy to deal with. 2. SSSkAtari - transaction type: Ebay product: Boxed M-network game for my collection, very nice fella all in all everything went smooth and again by the numbers on this one as well . so all in all i would say these two gentlemen I would gladly deal with again in the future, and thanks to this list they were easy to find and i appreciate this list as it is invaluable to everyone thanks for listening. RD
  9. I do not think it was an Atari 2600, to me it look liked some kind of early home computer a TI 99 maybe ?. I could be wrong as I have not seen that movie in years, so it could very well have been a 2600 you saw.
  10. probably been said before but I think this is what "tutankam" should have been . I mean this is a visually appealing game with a nice collection of creatures great use of color and controls. all I can say is if you decide to make a cartridge of this please post it some where as I would rush to buy it as long as it is under $ 100.00 well back to playing around with your game, great work !.
  11. A picture of the Atari 5200 Hotel unit, Ugliest thing I have seen in my life that and any FC twin or retro duo system(s) that seem to be every where. (OT ? : do these things really work as good as the real console ?.).
  12. if you have to just use basics USR command to call assembly routines for keyboard or controllers and then issue a poke 65497,0 command to speed the coco3 up 2.0 MHZ but make sure that when you go to save your work you poke 65496,0 to slow it down again since the coco3 does not do well at that speed while saving. But maybe that would be enough speed to get it playble without having to coding the whole thing in asm. Just a thought, forgive the intrusion.
  13. Alpha Omega Publications isn't really what I'd consider a "tire" comany. In my search I found a page that referred to Bridge stone, cyberpunks something or another, I see upon closer look now that is a multimedia company not a tire company, so I stand corrected (again).
  14. I think you're mistaken. I looked at eBay completed listings and the prices ranged from $12-$30. Are you sure you didn't add a zero in your head (or see the price for something like this?) I might have but I am pretty certain but you guys are the Experts on this stuff so maybe I am wrong but I could have sworn I saw 300.00 as the price.
  15. Hi there Freehabitat, As far as I know the first game Phser patrol was packaged with the super charger and the rest had to be bought sperately also as far as I know there is only one type and that is NTSC only as far as I know but I could be wrong. If I am wrong then I am sorry about that.
  16. That always drives me nuts when I see some a NEW(er) game system and they are using Atari 2600 sound effects in the background---Why do they do that? They Love to use Pac-Man and Donkey Kong from the 2600. I know, I often wonder the same thing. maybe that is one question man was not meant to understand, kinda like the Ark was something man was not meant to disturb, it is not of this earth. .
  17. I saw a 2600 used in an old sitcom called "gimme a break !" with Nel Carter and in an Episode of another sitcom called "wiz kids" I remember seeing an Atari 1450 Home computer. Oh yeah on an Episode of "Roseanne" they had a super Nes they were playing but with 2600 pacman sound fx (that was weird to say the least)
  18. supercat hi, I cannot find the one I saw a few days ago but I did see one and it went for 300 bucks, I went looking for the Auction in question but cannot find it now but i did find 2 super chargers one boxed and one loose. http://cgi.ebay.com/Starpath-Supercharger-...1QQcmdZViewItem this link shows the ones i mean there are 5 days left on the boxed one, i just bd on it.
  19. Okay, thanks that makes more sense now . thanlks for the link Nukey Shay very intresting stuff that I did a google a little while ago and found that the company is now owned by a tire company . just one last question do you know of anyone who has made a homemade version of this device ?, I looked for one at Ebay and found that they go for about $300.00 dollars a little out of my budget. the reason I ask is because I have couple of the games and real hardware just no supercharger to use with it. thanks guys, you have been very helpful with all of my questions.
  20. Oh that is freaking funny as hell , If only ...... Guess I will stick with the Stella Programmers Guide
  21. I was reading an old article on how Starpath used apple II computers to write software for the Atari 2600, now my confusion comes from this: each used a 6502/6507 variant CPU so I would guess that the assembly for that would be binary compatible however as far as I can tell that is where the similarity ends. I mean the TIA is not an off the shelf component is it ? (I don't think it is anyway) so how did they come up with the code for the TIA using Apple II computer, then theres the question of the Riot Chip used also as far as I know not an off the shelf component. I would assume the 8K of ram in the Supercharger also held a TIA and Riot chip and feed that info to the atari 2600 along with the 6502/6507 code ?. I am just curious and was wondering if anyone knew how this thing actually worked. thanks for any answers.
  22. Hi, I'm new here my name is Randall but you can call me RD it is shorter well anyways I did not know where to start until I found this thread , so now that the intro is over. I think it would be cool if there was a port of pressure cooker and private eye to the 5200. provided that do not exist already that is RD
