I have previously used Altirra 2.60 successfully. However, after switching to Windows 10, several months on the sick list, and upgrading to v.2.70, I find that Altirra no longer runs the cartridge files it did before for 5200 mode. Obviously, I am forgetting something. I have set Altirra to 5200 mode using the 5200 OS I used previously. I attach a cartridge and all I get is a black screen with the menu bar at the top. What am I forgetting to get the emulator working . Any help would be appreciated. I love this program as it allows me to relive the 1980's when I was heavily invested in the Atari line. Also, I am trying to find the ROM's for the ICD MIO. I am trying to virtually rebuild my Atari system from then. Thanks.

It was Christmas of '78. I was home on leave from W. Germany. I went to the Service Merchandise and bought some stereo equipment and on a whim, bought a Atari VCS. It was the original woodgrain, 6 switch version. What I didn't learn until later was that it was one of the preproduction prototypes that lacked the channel selector switch. It only worked on channel 3. I had it until 2003 and was fully functional with all the original parts, box and manuals along with receipt. Even the switches were original and functional. Alas, it and the large number of carts for it were stolen.

Yes it is a WAS/NOT WAS (?) file. The menu didn't work because the archive was missing the STARTGEM.LSD file. I located this in one of the other archives. I didn't try renaming the files. thanks to Noble Kale, i was able to get the files I wanted.

Could you possibly send me the programs MISSILE COMMAND & ROADRUNNER? The only compilation that I have found that has these programs is in a format I don't recognize. It has an extension of .LSD. The menu that allows these to run is missing the STARTGEM.LSD file.

Where is a good site for ST Disk images?

Well, I have acheived partial success. I successfully extracted the TOS.IMG file from the .ST file. However, because the PC disks simply cannot read or write to a 360k disk, I still am limited by that. Hopefully, I will have a 720k drive shortly.

360k floppies are real 3.5" disks. They are just single sided rather than double sided.

I have a lot of 360k disks laying around & can format them on the ST. The problem is that they are of course unreadable on the PC since 1) The drives on the PC no longer have 360k ability 2) The MS Dos headers are missing There was at one time a utility for the St's that wrote the MSDos headers on the ST formatted disks to allow them to be read on the PC. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find this program.

...I have been unable to do that. Disks formatted to 720k seem to unreadable at all. I have also used a program called STDisk to make ST disks from the images but they don't seem to work either. I thought that I would look for the ST program that would mod the disk to be readable in the PC. My drives don't seem to be able to make 360k disks, which I need , since I only have SF354's at the moment.

...a shame. I once owned a SpartaDos X cart along with the R-Time 8 Cart. I really liked it. I could boot in a few seconds using a Ramdisk on an ICD MIO. I used a pair of 720k floppies on a Percom board for storage along with a Happy 1050 and an Indus GT. I really liked that 8bit setup. Found it as useful as my ST. Even had the Diamond GEM OS cart.

Is there a source for the SpartaDos X Cartridges? Last I heard was that a company had bought the rights and then disappeared.

Many years ago when the ST line was new, I remember having a program that would either format an MSDos readable on the ST or would make the needed changes to an ST disk to enable it to be read in an MSDos machine. Since every MSDos system I have (including the old 486) will not format a disk in the required 360k for my ST drives, I could use this program if it can be found. Any help would be appreciated.

for the disk. I will certainly let you know if I find a disk for the 260ST. I had forgotten that those even existed.
