I forgot to check JC's site. His prices are always pretty competitive. Only bummer for us, wolfman, is that we have to pay sales tax

You can read all about the "loan command center" and how to protect it by holding the joystick in a special yogo stance and pressing the fire button with your big toe by reviewing the back of the box. HAHA lol. The conversion to the AA dark side is almost complete. BTW, have you looked at any escrow services for the auction? Seems like with any big dollar auctions I have seen they use escrow acounts (I can't speak from experience, just seen them described in the auction listing). I bet Google know all about those.

Agreed. After all, the picture of the CX-40 is wrong since it shows the wire coming out of the opposite end as the fire button.

I can't believe you don't have River Raid and Starmaster. Both are top 10 games for me. Also, pick up Secret Quest either here or on eBay (yes, they are cheap CIB right now). Pretty clever and challenging late release game.

Enough of these are starting to surface that I feel like this cart has turned into an 8 on rarity, but regardless the price has slowly been on the rise. However, for just a bit more, I feel like you can get one with the end label and in better condition. I picked up mine -- cart and manual -- for $225 and felt that I overpaid in a bidding war about two and half years ago. But now I see that the cart and manual is selling for a little over $300. I know a lot of people don't like this game, but I do -- was playing it the other night.

For the first time since I have been collecting, eBay is returning over 10K items for a search on "Atari 2600". To put it in perspective about 5 years ago, I did the same search and had 1978 items returned, now it's 10,365. I remember the 1978 number because I had the thought, "One less item and the count matches the year of its release." The number has been climbing steadily and seems to have taken a jump with eBay's new policies for listing. Seems like we are seeing both a rise in the amount of supply and demand of Atari 2600 items. The net result seems to be driving the common stuff prices into the ground (for example .01 -.99 listings for loose commons) and raising the price of the more rare stuff. Just my 1/50th of a dollar.

Nice article, looks like you contributed quite a bit to it, Mr. Yarusso. (Now I know the rest of that story).

I assume you are referring to the now famous Tanman auction? -
Indeed. Here is the photo took of the historic moment. Al has a very big head. AX He got it from running this site

In your wallet you will find a bunch of paper with pictures with dead presidents, check your wife's wallet, too (there is probably a lot more than you have). I will send you my address and you can mail it all to me. It is just paper!

Mmmmmmmmm, opening an Atari sealed game. Better than [fill in the blank]. Enjoy, and welcome to the dark side. Those "leave it sealed" pansies <James E Jones Voice>will never know the power of opening a sealed game</Voice> MUH HA HA. *ahem* sorry..... Homer: Good to see your name back in action and love the new avatar.

Greatest. Thread. Ever. Another vote for real-deal. I have been looking long and hard at the OP's pictures and Albert's pics and comments. So given that we have good pics and Albert's word after visually inspecting the box, what else can be done to convince the doubters? Probably nothing I guess. I was recently talking to person who doesn't believe the moon landing every happened. It was a hoax by our government, and nothing I or anyone else could say or do could change his mind. Lastly, this was actually the perfect April Fool's joke. Think about it -- everyone was EXPECTING a hoax/conterfeit item. We were actually fooled because it was real.

It looks like we have our prime suspect. Do you have something you would like to get off your chest, jahfish? Or should I say TANMAN!

While Mark's boxes are great, they are substantially different from an offset printed, die-cut box. ..Al Take that Monkey Boy. Your short, to-the-point, entries are starting to sway my thinking. That and it is getting late in the day. I do believe in Air Raid, I do believe in Air Raid...

it kinda became less exciting today than it was yesterday .... the real fun is gone ... now it is just a bit funny ... Al asks stupid questions, Tanman is pissed about us, CPU is lying, the aliens haven't shown up yet ... i think i'm gonna go to sleep Yeah, bit of a lull -- maybe the calm before the storm? It is what, 10pm there?

Is the auction still up? ..Al Indeed it is, with the bid now at $4,500. I think if the auction is still up after the 1st, bidding will take off again.

Messed up is right. I made the mistake of looking at your feedback profile, Cebus, to see what you are purchasing. All I can say is :o :o :o :o I think there is still vacancy at the rehab clinic Jesse James is at right now.

Here you go! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 230455455818 I use mine all the time with my Stella Has a New Brain CD. You might need a mod for this game, though. Maybe 8-Bit Computing can help you out.

NIB Atari 2600 Mr. Do's Castle - $2999.99 BIN

Less than half of the BIN price and double the current market value. If I had a grand to spare, sure, why not? But hell, I can't get a seller to accept an offer of $22 on a $24.99 BIN/Best Offer cart. I never understood why putting a Best Offer on an auction if you are not willing to go more than $1, maybe $2, below the BIN price. There are 2 sellers on eBay who I have run into that do this. Then there is the other extreme like this seller who puts the price out in the stratosphere but accepts a huge markdown offer. -
That is great. I was hoping someone from AA who was interested would pick this up. And you got them cheap.
-
That is totally fake. You can tell it was Photoshopped because the shadows are all wrong. But if Al is willing to go to your house personally and inspect it, I will take his word for it (as long as the box number isn't M707).
