Well, if no one else will do it: For your viewing pleasure, this auction has been canceled because the OP found the box for the game and it is now relisted CIB (no manual came with the cart). It has already surpassed the original bid for the cart alone. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 110514343174

Too bad airraid.com and air-raid.com are taken.

Actually he did it with the help of the Back to the Future DeLorean he purchased recently. What a masterful plan by him and mcgrail007. What is wrong with playing Devil's advocate on this? We will know for sure in the next 24 hours anyway. I am enjoying the show.

This is me rolling my eyes every time I see a post like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerology ..Al But you must at least admit it is a pretty strange coincidence, at least the LOL.
-
Sure Occam would lead us to believe that, but have you looked at the other April Fool's pranks? The false screen shoots, pictures of proto chips and the like. Good stuff. I was almost 100% on board, but that box number did bother me. Why would a "debut" cart be number 7? But if you think about it from a prank perspective, who would be the top (at least perceived) bidder on this? Wonder. So "LOL Wonder007" would make perfect sense. Time will tell.

That's upside-down. It's LOLW - the first part is of course a hint to the joke being played on is, but I haven't cracked the W yet. Laugh Out Loud Wonder007? BINGO. Either a crazy coincidence or you cracked the code.

That is actually the first piece of evidence of an April Fool's joke that I could buy. I was thinking it was a weird number, but it is LOL upside down..... Maybe the W is for "Wickeycolumbus" who is in on it.

While there is a lull, I would like to sincerely thank Albert for a) Helping pull off the best AA April Fool's joke yet. or b) Taking the time to drive over to Tanman's house to inspect this box to verify its authenticity

I think that would be great if he did, but I think there will be some stiff competition from outside AA. I personally think this will go over $30K. EDIT: Stiff, not stuff

...and we just passed $4,000....

Dang, already over $3,000. That thing is taking off like a rocket.

For your viewing pleasure, I present the eBay auction for Air Raid, CIB: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 110514343174 I have placed my bid of $26.83. Wish me luck!

I don't think so, or at least that is not definitive in this pic sitting on the carpet like that. Look at the last picture with the common cart boxes. It *appears* that Donkey Kong is slightly taller than Starmaster, much in the same way as the Air Raid insert. But when I pulled my Donkey Kong and Starmaster box and compared, they are the same size.

Uploading 12 pictures is takinglonger then I expected... Yeah, thanks for hanging with us.

I have been constantly checking eBay. He said at around 9pm Central, which is like 15 minutes.

You are a naughty little monkey. Someone needs to spank you. Spank the monkey...spank the monkey Me thinks we have a volunteer. If I can find my wife's whip; he is gonna get it! Alright, gents, I always love chatting here on the www.900spankme.com forum, but I need to get back to the AtariAge forum to participate in a serious discussion about an Air Raid cartridge. What? Wait a second......

Nice photoshop job! Nobody makes frames THAT GOOD, we all know that, DUH! No doubt, this is a total fake, you can tell because the shadows are all wrong. FAIL.

Yes, expect a cease and desist order from my lawyer.... Or at the very least a letter saying my dad can beat up your dad.

I could do the old peel and stick and you would have no way of knowing. There are ways other than the hair dryer, and I am as inexperienced as they get I just can not believe any method will look this good. Sure there are other ways to peel. But these edges, including the center edging to discourage peeling, are too pristine, yet at the same time show the right amount of aging while still lying nice and flat on the box. His close-ups of the price tag are very clear. Show me pics this good of a peel and stick (i.e. before, during, after) that looks this good to make me a believer.

I definitely agree with that. I have to do a fair amount of Photoshopping in my work and things like Gaussian or unsharp blur softens a picture by slight blurring. Pretty easy to spot. Conversely the sharpen feature does a poor job at its namesake, producing some weird angles/colors especially around the edges. It is also easy to spot. Both would take a lot of tweaking. And yes, the movie stuff where they take a small picture and "enhance" it to show minuscule detail is pure fiction. You would end up with big pixel blobs. So while my gut tells me this is an April Fool's prank, my mind says, "Wow, that would be an incredibly hard feat to produce that box that looks that good." The picture on the front would be very time consuming to produce from the plaqued cart image. And the price tag? It would take either very experienced Photoshop skills (doubtful as I have looked close at pic) or someone who has NOS price tags and stuck one on the repro box. Forget the hair dryer and an old price tag. Peeled price tags turn into a hot mess, and it is obvious this one isn't a peel and stick. I want it to be real. But either way, I am enjoying the show.

lol. I didn't catch that at first. Even the picture is bass-ackwards.

Get your popcorn ready! I can't wait to see this auction.
