  1. "loan command post" is a nice engrish touch if it is. That is funny, "All your base belong to us" right? The price sticker is a nice touch, too.
  2. Wow, I feel like I am witnessing history in the making. But with April 1st just around the corner ..... arghhhhh ......
  3. I think you are both right. If he had a BIN of $300, it would be gone, but it is not worth it. I wouldn't want that eye-sore sitting on the shelf with my other games.
  4. I need the box (have the cart and manual), but I would have a tough time paying $300 for a box that looks that bad. I am resigned to the fact that some games will never be CIB in my collection, and this is one of them.
  5. Got my first R10 today: Asterix NTSC. I know it is not as rare as a Music Machine, Air Raid, or an obscure prototype. But it is a big deal to my little collection. I have three R9s as well, Swordquest Waterworld CIB (my favorite rare), Quadrun with instructions, and Tomarc/Motocross Racer XONOX.
  6. Yeah, doesn't make any difference. I can see the autofire with the battery in but the game still goes crazy whether or not battery is in or the switch is on Normal or Astroblast (although it seems to go crazy faster in Astroblast mode). The ship will quickly turn invisible (but I can still fire), the game goes super fast, and when my ship explodes it stays on the red exploding screen and the ship count churns from 01-99 super fast forever. Quite bizarre. But no problems with a regular joystick. Oh well, just curious if anyone else had this happen, but I figured I was the only one.

    Polaris

I have you tried the Seawolf homebrew? If you like Polaris, I am pretty sure you will like Seawolf. Both are great submarine games.
  8. I really like this controller for a couple games. It is perfect for Asteroids on the 7800. I have one with the faux wood grain, which I think is sexy, errr, anyway..... Here is something weird though with my Starplex. It has the switch for Normal and Astroblast. I thought, Cool, gotta try that. Plugged Astroblast in and sure enough it is a great controller for that game. But then shortly into gameplay, it (the game) freezes up. Reset, try again, same result. I try the game with a CX-40, no problems. I think that it must be a problem with the cart -- How could a controller cause a game/system to freeze? So I buy a loose copy of Astroblast but have the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this, or am I the lucky one?
  9. Missing all the internal packaging if it matters.I thought about it the first time it listed at $59.99 and didnt sell. That would definitely be a plus. I think I was more impressed with the condition of the box, the system, and the original receipt.
  10. Should be "2) Don't make a comment about Pacman or E.T." If you think the reaction to your Pacman post got a rise out of the forum, do a search on E.T. to see the flame wars on that one.
  11. Not something you see everyday, sealed Waterworld in decent condition. Price is a little high, but I guess he figured why not try? eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190384495383 Also has a "new" Crazy Climber, but it looks a little rough. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190384495606
  12. "Some people" is right! Freakin' cheapskates. Consequently, I am going to go play my Atari 1200XL that I won for $10 in a raffle.
  13. Those are some good pick ups. Don't beat yourself up over the whole finding stuff "in the wild". It is a lot harder now than it used to be. A lot of the thrifts are starting to charge a lot more for the old school stuff, even Craig's List is getting ridiculous with their prices, and you would burn a lot of gas trying to find this stuff at garage sales. My whole collection is all eBay and online purchases. There are deals to be found there. As for what you should get, let us know the games you like and we can suggest similar ones.
  14. Hmmmm, a bit misleading: "This game is ultra rare and is rated as a rarity of 10 at atari2600.com when it is complete (even unsealed.)" First of all, Atari2600.com's "rarity" on the price guide isn't very accurate. It is supposed to reflect how often an item comes up for auction, but currently it rates far too many games a 10. (e.g. Yar's Revenge CIB is a 10 as well). It should also be noted that AA rates this game an 8 rarity. But here is where I have an issue. If he has looked at the Atari2600.com site, he knows that the current fair market value for this game NIB is $677.99. That is a far cry from his current asking price. However, it is a moot point because unless someone has money they are using as toilet paper and happen to want this game, it isn't going to sell for that price.
  15. I know of a couple threads were talking about this -- Taco Bell is including in their kid's meals Atari classics. I saw these advertised at my local Taco Bell. In case you wanted a set without making a "run to the border", you can pick up a set on eBay: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 290418194166
  16. Manually sniping is a lot more fun. But if I really want an item, automated sniping is the way to go. Trust me, you should try it. I was a skeptic at first, too.
  17. Okay how about this one? A Spectravideo CompuMate Atari 2600 keyboard. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 270553473392
  18. Very nice condition, CIB Sears Video Arcade II with original receipt: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 140394060688 I don't collect the Sears variations, but this is nice enough with a low enough starting price to be tempting. I know, it is nothing out of this world, but still interesting, especially with that original, hand-written, Sears receipt.
  19. My only problem with KFM is that everyone looks like they're wearing half of a mask or something (or a ski mask pulled down half way). I have no idea what the top half of your head is black, but it looks stupid. Tempest I always imagined it being like a Zorro mask. It's no worse than Frankenstein's Monster with the character wearing a white baseball cap. And we are talking about a system where your character looked this a few games back:
  20. Every time I pop Kung Fu Master into my 2600, I am amazed by the color and detail. It looks almost as good as the 7800 version and has better controls.
  21. Yes, once he found out you already have 2 CIB of every game you listed, he decided not to sell any to you Can't you at least let me have Ram It and/or Demolition Herby?
  22. Yeah coz you know everyone has those. *nervous laugh* -Darren- PS: Seriously though those are some pretty good games there PPS: I really dont have Adventure or Warlords I heard that Albert has already begun the process to ban you from AA for not having those 2 required carts. Didn't you read the ToS when you signed up?
  23. I bought mine about the same time. It was Motorodeo, Ikari, and Xenophobe all NIB for $125. That was a great deal (I thought). Then the floodgates really opened. I guess the R5 means there R at least five NIB copies available at any time on eBay. Same with Road Runner. I picked up a NIB copy for $50 (ouch) back when they were pretty hard to find.
  24. to answer my own question no! his ntsc items are not to be trusted. Sold me a NTSC Mangia - which was PAL and now he is trying his best not to let me get a refund from him :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: Ouch. Man, I am sorry. I did cancel several of my bids with him, but I had already won a couple items which weren't super rare, but at least were NTSC. You are right, can't be trusted.
  25. Good find -- shows exactly what I described. It is not rocket surgery. Practice beforehand and you will see for yourself. But again, your cart, your decision.
