Brand New Music Machine! Let the battle begin!
atari_envy replied to ninermaniac's topic in Auction Central
To me, 93% on eBay means problems. I do a good chunk of buying on eBay and would never buy from someone with 93% feedback. I'd say there is a fair chance this transaction won't be completed. (And yes, I do understand that your FB score is now based on your actions as a seller, but anything under 98 is a red flag as to their attitude towards eBay transactions). That's the high bidder that Iwan posted the info on, not the seller. I'm a little surprised this didn't go significantly higher - has the mighty shrinkwrap hit a ceiling with a game of this rarity? Actually it would have been less without that mysterious t***7 bidder, who went from feedback 0 to feedback 1 in the span of me composing this response. Sure, I understand that is the bidder/winner. I am just saying s/he has a bad feedback percent. A lot of people don't take eBay buying and selling seriously. They bid on stuff and then don't pay or, conversely, don't ship an item when it doesn't sell for as much as they wanted. Maybe it is someone on AA, and they will prove me wrong..... -

YouTube: "high-res" vintage Atari commercials
atari_envy replied to El Destructo's topic in Atari 2600
Wow, I remember a couple of those commercials..... Good stuff. -
Bumper Bash is great, but the ball to flipper physics are more than slightly off. Midnight Magic is easily more fun time and time again - IMO and I have both. Video Pinball doesn't even rank, sorry old skool lovers! lol I actually like Video Pinball. It's the ugly girl with the nice personality -- nice to spend some time with, but not so much to look at. However, I give the nod to Midnight Magic as the best.

That's not normal either. I know several of the people who helped playtest used 7800's and nothing like that was ever reported. Sounds like the cart may have issues. You may want to PM Al. Glad to report I received my replacement cart (thanks for the fast ship and great customer service as always, Al!), and it works without issue. Strange that previous cart only had problems only on either of my two heavies. But this one works like a champ. The more I play it, the more I like it. Great job.

Sorry to tailgate on this thread, but I just finished my M-Network collection, too -- Star Strike CIB was my final arrival. This is a fun and not-too-hard company line to collect for with good games. And no, I am not going to collect the same labels from Singapore, Phillipines, Korea, and USA. I might however, try to get Kool-Aid Man and Star Strike NIB if available and not outrageous $$$ since the rest of the collection is in their shrinkwrap.

No prob...you just recently joined and I've started new threads on topics that have been discussed a thousand times. Next, people will bust your chops for resurrecting a thread that has been cold for 7 years like I have. +1

I have not been testing on a heavy sixer, but it's strange that it would not work and worked fine on your 7800. Send me a PM and we can exchange the cart for another to see if that issue goes away. ..Al Thanks. I have a 4 switch in the garage. Let me test it on that first (but as a side note, never had any problems with my sixer). I am hopeful that it is just a problem with the cart and an exchange will fix. I will let you know/PM. EDIT: I tested on a 4 switch and a light sixer without issue. I guess it could be my heavy, but if you or someone else can test this game on a heavy I would be interested in the results before sending the cart back. I don't have any problems with any other games including Star Fire and Space Instigators. I created a video but not allowed to upload it. It is a little hard to see, but the screen jump/flicker is on the display not just my unsteady hand. It flickers with every auto attack from me and the slime. I can email if you like.

Got Dungeon, fast shipping as always. But I was really confused at first. Every time I started the game, green slime would immediately appear and my character would duke it out until one of us died. This happens over and over without me touching the controller until my character dies. I put the game away for a couple days, thinking "Okayyyy, why does everyone love this game?" I decided to try it again, and fortunately I had been playing on my 7800, because when I played it this time there was no immediate green slime, it was turn-based and I could explore. This was obviously a lot more fun. I plugged it back into my 2600 to try again, and it was the same deal. Green slime immediately appearing upon start (right next to the stars on level 1) and my character automatically fights until dead. I found that if I immediately moved after killing the green slime, but when I ran into another monster, same deal. If I didn't immediately choose an action the game would automatically fight. One other thing I notice is that on the 2600 the screen flickers and jumps constantly. But on the 7800 I don't see that. Sometimes I see garbage characters in place of where the Fight/Cast/Run text is at. Is there a known issue with heavy sixers? Like I said, it works fine in my 7800.

Oh. My. Gawd. I love it! Just put it on my iPod. It ends a little abruptly, but other than that, uber cool.

The "Holy Cow - I can't believe it's a 2600 cart!" Thread
atari_envy replied to VectorGamer's topic in Atari 2600
I don't know if you have it or what the availability of it is but I bought a Defender Arcade hack a few months ago that is cool. Thanks. I saw a thread on it a while back. I would love one of those carts, but it looks like it is only available via emulation right now. Unless, of course, someone is willing to hook me up with a cart or the burning of a ROM on a cart. I am will to provide some $ for time and materials..... -
Wow, that's incredibly cool! I still have the original end labels for these games so I just need to reattach them. Looks like using a glue stick (any recommendations for the brand?) is the way to go. Thanks for all of the responses! I use the Elmer's that is purple when wet. That way you can make sure you get a nice even spread to the edges. Stuff works great and is cheap.

The "Holy Cow - I can't believe it's a 2600 cart!" Thread

For me it was Stargate. All the games I had played before had something missing, goofy, or just not quite right. But Stargate looked and played so much like the arcade game, I was blown away. The other one is Kung Fu Master. Come on, if you didn't know that was a 2600 game, you'd think it was a 5200 or 7800 game. In fact, I think the 2600 plays better than the 7800 version and looks nearly as good. -
I dont own it, but want to now. http://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=895 ..Al I couldn't stand it any longer and ordered my copy. I am not a big home brew collector, but this looked too good to pass up.

Yes, it's stuck together with tiny plastic posts. Practice on a Telesys cart, if you are unsure. Thanks! So what is the verdict?

Whatta Deal And "just think what it will be worth in 10 years." (About 10% of what your listed price).

Put me on the list for the Kate Beckinsale cart.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_Interchange_Format#Pronunciation Lies. All lies. I will still say Gif Guh Guh Guh Gif, Not Jif, because it's stupid. yes, I am very mature. lol. That's cool, you are probably in the majority of pronouncee's. I just want to make sure you don't give people like me who pronounce it (arguably) correctly a hard time. I am old enough to remember when the GIF format came out and read the CompuServe manual which stated how to pronounce it. Consequently, I have always pronounced it like that.

The Flashback 2. I picked one up a few years ago as a Christmas present for an in-law. Played a few games, especially Pitfall, and felt the same magic as when I was a kid. Then I thought, wouldn't it be totally off the hook if I could actually get my hands on an original 2600 and some game carts. A few years and thousands of dollars later, I am still "back."
-
It's pronounced "two thousand six hundred," right? For all you military folks out there, I love playing my Alpha, Tango, Alpha, Romeo, India, two, six, zero, zero. How do you copy?
-
I would tend to agree with this statement. For me the experience is looking through the carts, manuals, boxes, taking a cart out, plugging it into the slot, grabbing that classic joystick and playing it old school style. I don't like emulation, and even the Flashback console isn't as fun as the original. I also think playing Atari because I got laid off would put a bit of bad spin on it. But to each their own. For some, I suppose, the magic goes away. Maybe it is like being told there is no Santa. Christmas just isn't as fun after Santa stops coming.
