  1. If I may make one more request...

Can you give the ability re-map the 'quit' and 'enter-UI' keys (normally ALT-F4 and ESC, respectively) Being that this is the best 5200 emulator available, I would like to place this in a MAME cab I am going to build, but the ALT-F4 thing is going to be somewhat of a pain. :( Being able to use ESC to quit would be wonderful :)

    Thanks!

    Bob

So when are you going to work on a 7800 emulator? ;) (at least we would finally have the colors correct) :-/

  2. Another release with some bug fixes and additions. Major changes:

    * Pacman with indigestion (Sound) fix

    * Pokey pot values in debugger fixed

    * Added Missle Command+ to cart list

    * Added Sensitivity parameter (Thanks Jum!)

    * Added Simulate Analog parameter, a.k.a. Pengo mode

    * Added ASO and SHX instructions to CPU (Pac Pollux Hack works)

    * Fix vertical axis (analog) deadzone issue (movement above center)

    * Pitfall II logo scrolling fix (DLI timing, Trebor reported)

    * Added Pac Pollux hack to cart list

    * Added BC's Quest For Tires conversion to cart list

    * Fix cart list not saving alphabetically

    * Xari Arena paddles show up now (read from CONSOL, Scihorror reported)

The Sensitivity setting can help with games where the stick moves too fast. The Simulate Analog works when using the keyboard or D-Pad with games like Gorf, Missle Command, Super Breakout, and probably some others. However, it won't work well with games that don't use the true analog nature of the 5200 controller.

If updating, all you need is the executable, the configuration and cart files will be updated automatically (as needed).

Please let me know of any bugs or suggestions.

    Enjoy!

    Hi!

Any chance of you adding the Hangly-Man and Pac-Man Plus hacks to the cart list?

    Thanks :)

  3. Glad you appreciated the auctions! Those were the sum of a year's worth of accumulated extra games. Your games will mail today. Enjoy the $6 Sears pic Basketball. I paid like $40 for my copy last year and thought I got a steal.

BTW. It's good to get some money FROM you after your absolutely devestating snipe bid on last week's Spike's Peak cost me $55 bucks. ;)

This is a good time to grab mid-level games on eBay. The trend I'm seeing is prices are at an all time low. In addition to the $6 Sears pic Basketball, the Death Trap I sold for $19 used to be a $30+ game. I guess all the collectors have these games already.

Does that mean my games will go out today too???? :)

  4. Sorry, man...

I had been looking for that Flag Capture for a long time... I now have *no* text carts left (which was my goal). There are only two carts I had to 'make' picture labels for, because they were never released as picture labels: Slot Machine and Basic Math. (I know, 'Basic Math' was re-released as 'Fun With Numbers' in '86, but to me, that's different) :P As for Miniature Golf, I just took the PAL version (which was released as a picture label) and put the NTSC ROM inside it :)

Although now I have to find that '86 BlackJack again :x

  5. I was the one in the 'bidding war' with him. :( I stopped at $55, because I thought it was too high, but damn I wanted that one.

I really hope he isn't a reseller, because I'd hate to see the opening bid on that cart now. :(

At least I got the 1986 versions of Flag Capture (Picture Label), Sky Diver (White Text), and Breakout (Orange Label). :-/

It ended too late for me to attempt to snipe it (besides, I *hate* that sniping crap...) I had to get up early this morning.

  6. Poor Snow White! :( I thought for sure that her and Prince Charming were gonna hit it off. Oh well, at least she's still got the dwarves.

Ya know - I'm sitting here laughing all by myself at work because I just got the joke! :D

... took me long enough :P

  7. I think I finally have all of them, including all of the hacks and homebrews, and the 32 in 1 which I actually replaced with NTSC versions (it was an eprom inside). I also have the NTSC version of Sentinel, the fixed version of NTSC Impossible Mission, the PitFighter, GATO, and RoF demos, KLAX, the monitor cartridge, Combat 1990, and I finally got the High Score Cart (thanks Curt!) :)

I also made a reproduction of the diagnostic cart.

Tank Command by far was the hardest one to get.

BTW only about half of these have boxes and about 2/3 have instructions; I'm not too big on those. :)

  8. Cool!

Remember - you are limited to 2K games on this thing... I wonder if there's a way to use 16 4K games (instead of 32 2K games) instead?

I'll try and post a pic of the board when I get home. I put a socket in in case I change my mind about the games I put on it :)

  9. Hi All:

I have a TI 27PC512... I think it's an EEPROM.... Question is, how do I erase the thing? It has no window, but in the Pocket Programmer II the 'Erase' button doesn't show up. I was able to reprogram it with all '00', but I can't reprogram it to all 'FF' (which is blank).

does anyone know how to tackle this thing?

    Thanks in advance

    Bob

  10. Hi:

I recently acquired an Atari 32 in 1 cartridge off of ebay (knowing it was PAL). I was hoping that they used an eprom in there ... and I was right! I carefully pulled off the sticker and opened it up. It used a 27C512 eprom. I burned another one with the NTSC versions of the same games and replaced the board. Viola! an NTSC 32 in 1 :) the only thing is, there were three 'double' games in there (Freeway, Fishing Derby, and another one I can't think of at the moment), so I replaced them with 'Starship', 'Dragster', and 'Wizard'). :D

... I should really post pictures of the board, but I'm not at home right now...

  11. Not to de-rail the thread, but every time I see the subject line, I think of the song 'Broken Wings' by Mr. Mister :ponder:

"Take... these broken sticks.... and learn to play again"

  12. So, my first impressions on the 7800 are actually something that I recall thinking about the NES. The colors are real flat and muted. They're not as dynamic and "sparkly" as the 5200, for example. The colors look dusty, murky... filmy. Even the 2600 games seem to have more vivid hues than the 2600 (which makes me wonder why the pallette would look dusty and murky for a 7800 game, when the hardware can create, for example, vivid yellows in Atari 2600 mode).

I had the same initial impression. Everything on the 7800 seems dull, and flat looking. 7800 games also had a propensity for using purple and blue for some reason and it looked REALLY ugly. Mmmm... dull purple. Makes me think back to the good old EGA days when they used the same ugly ass purple.

Is there any reason for this? I'm guessing there's a technical reason.

    Tempest

I think it's simply because it's the colors the programmers chose. For instance, when I was hacking Pac-Man for the 7800, I found that they purposely used 'Hot Pink' for Blinky instead of red in Ms. Pac-Man (don't know why). I always thought that color was the closest they could get :-/ I fixed that in Pac-Man.
