  1. Thanks StanJr, Breakpack, and Nukey Shay :) I will refer to this thread if/when I can get back to fiddling with it...

I think what would help (me) a great deal is that emulator / disassembler someone started writing a while back, that would show the screen on the left, and the code on the right. (Funny enough I remember seeing Ms.Pac-Man in the example). I am assuming at this point (being it wasn't released yet), that you could step through the code? Or at least put break points in it?

I wish I could remember the name of that application, and I hope it gets released soon :) ... I'll do a search when nobody's in my office...

  2. @Stan Jr: I guess it is at this point; I haven't been able to figure out the last few things I wanted to. The problem is, to implement any of the other changes (turning the screen invisible, making the fruit turn the monsters blue, etc.) I believe requires adding code to an 8K cart. Not an easy task from what I hear :( I really wanted to see this come to life, too...

@Atarius Maximus: You always have such cool hacks!

  3. Crap! I had found the colors to the 5200 maze several months ago but have since thrown away that piece of paper  It took a while to find too... Pretty much trial and error.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten any further on the 2600 PMP version; the assembly is just too difficult for me to follow (time to start reading the 'programming' forum) :ponder:

In the meantime, time to look at what looks like a cool job you did!... 8)

  4. Your 2600 is a little crooked - it needs to be rotated right about 1 or 2 degrees :D

Seriously though - very cool display

Here's mine: (split into left / right shots)

It's more of a 'Classic Gaming' shrine in my basement :) The Vectrex is still to come...

  5. Sorry for the vague response earlier - it takes a few minutes; you have to assign a function to an application. I assigned the equivalent of the X axis of the mouse to the MAME32.EXE application. I say the 'equivalent' because they didn't word it that way in the drop down box for the function selections ... I'm sorry, I forget the term they used (and I'm at work right now), but it wasn't 'Mouse X Axis'. I'll look later...

  6. I actually have that (above post) - it is the *best* - I know it works with MAME (although it takes some setting up). I have not tried it with PCAEWIN, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for that either.

  7. Thanks Sku_u :)

BTW I saw the post in the 2600 thread about the WIP of PacManPlus - that was very nice of you Breakpack :) I am still working on trying to figure this stuff out by myself, I have disassembled the rom (thanks to Distella, and breaking the program into 2 - 4K parts), and have mapped out the graphics section of it. I might need a little help trying to figure out where certain routines are, so any help is appreciated :) I have included how far I got here (not the binary, looking at the source) - NOTE that I started with MsPacMan, not the hack.

Regarding the colors, Rob Kudla has documented where the colors are in the file - just download his binary, and look for the .txt file in there - it explains everything.
