  1. Hi! I recently acquired 3 2600 Jr. models, and I am trying to mod them for A/V (I did the mod in the FAQ, and it didn't work) I have enclosed two pictures of what I have done, although the colors are not 100% correct (some colors are too dark, others are just right) Does anyone know the right pins/connections to make this work? I am so close but I can't seem to get it right. Thanks in advance
  2. Idea for the 'Scoring' issue... Can't we just put a 'static' zero at the end of the score display? No shifting of points, might be an easier solution Bob
  3. Hey Nukey: The 'Fruit' Blue time in Pac Man Plus is different than the power pellet times. After you get to the board that is the equivalent of the 4th key (the first level where they don't turn blue at all, which in Plus is the third pancake), the fruit still makes them turn blue. It's a number of boards later where nothing (fruit or energizers) make them turn blue. I have included an input file (for use with MAME .56) where I get pretty far on it. This (hopefully) should show you when you need to see) Hope this helps! pmp.zip
  4. I'm envisioning something like the Jakks Joystick but with a cartridge port? *drool*
  5. I wonder if there's a way to pull the audio and video from the Stella Adapter (and feed it 12 volts like it gets from the cartridge slot) and use it as a stand-alone?
  6. Thank you, Mitch You guys are a great help I am assuming by the responses that the Composite mod on the 5200 should also show the video from the 2600 adapter, correct? Thanks again
  7. Thanks, Bruce - I'll check that tonight.... If this ends up being a 'regular' 4-port, does anyone have step-by-step instructions on how to convert it? (I assume I need the bios as well) I did a search on this site for '5200 4 port mod' and didn't come up with anything. I also searched the internet with the same keywords and came up with the 5200 FAQ, which only states that Best Electronics sells a kit.
  8. I have the 4 port model, but the serial number begins with the Asterisk If someone can tell me that it definately does work that way, I can start to troubleshoot it... Now I'm starting to wonder if someone switched the insides... I'll have to try and find the modification to make it work with a 4 port if that is the case Thanks Bob
  9. Hello: I had my 5200 fitted with the video adapter from 8bit (gives great composite out, IMHO) I just got the 2600 adapter for it and I tried it quickly before going to work this morning and all I got was a black screen. I'm wondering if even though it's going through the 5200, the 2600 adapter only sends out RF signals? Please help, because that was the only reason I got the 2600 adapter - (I have a 7800 as well). When I get home tonight, I'm going to try and connect the rf cable back up to see if I get a picture that way... Thanks! Bob
  10. I think it's really wonderful that someone like Ken Love frequents this board and makes the first-generation Activision fans still feel like they haven't been forgotten. That say a lot about Ken and Activision themselves. I just would like to say thanks, Ken, and I hope you and Activision do very well for years to come. Bob
  11. Mine is just a collector's item - I used to love the 'haunted house' overlay for the TV... (I think I need to look at it again... maybe make it my desktop wallpaper) Maybe I should break it out to make sure it still works...
  12. Although I wonder if it would be easier if (after you convert it) for me to try and just add the attract mode (and possibly the better 'dot eating' sound) to my hack instead of re-hacking that one... I'll attempt it both ways and see which one is easier. Do you know approximately where the Attract mode subroutine is? If not, I'll search for it. Thanks I'm feeling brave... I might actually attempt to hack the 7800 version of Ms. Pac-Man into Pac-Man soon...
  13. You know what would be very cool - If you could add the 'Attract Mode' (from the 8-Bit version) to this... Is that do-able?
  14. not a problem - I'll do that as soon as I get home from work.
  15. Oh yes! The speed hacks! - I thought you only did the 8-bit version?
  16. Hey StanJr. Is this reserved only for 2600 hacks? I think I may have entered the first 5200 hack here: Hangly Man.
  17. I was just wondering of everyone here: I recently made a hack of the 5200 version of Pac-Man to play like the arcade bootleg Hangly-Man, and was talking to Al about possibly making it in cart form. I was just curious if anyone would actually purchase it it cart form; It only got a lukewarm reception in the 'Hacks' forum. (I don't want to waste Al's time and money). Thanks
  18. I actually made 'End Labels' which look like the Atari 2600 Silver End Labels (except in Blue; they have to match) I stuck them on the end of each cart.
  19. Hey Vic George: I understand what you mean now - just the maze itself... I thought you might have been referring to some of the game's dynamics. I actually am very familiar with the maze layouts of all variations of Pac-Man BUT, I had to make some slight changes to the 'circular' parts to the maze only because of how Atari did the maze permissions. (You are very limited there - it only checks in 10 spots horizontally and 10 spots vertically where the players can go) Funny thing is that I originally started to do a 'New Puck X' version, but quickly found out that I can't because of the little twists (like at the bottom center of the maze) for the reason mentioned above. Thanks for the feedback!
  20. No problem, man I guess I did understand your question after all BTW - anyone know how to make this into a usable 32K cart? Just doubling the bin doesn't work... Thanks
