  1. Hello Everyone: I just wanted to let you all know, that I am the person who traded him hte 7800 (and a few carts) for a TI99-4a (I already have a 7800). One thing different about this 7800, is that I performed the power connector modification on it to use the more common barrel connector (I gave him that one because I didn't have a spare PSU, and I thought it would be easier to find that type of connection). I made the middle the positive and the outside negative. It ended up being a little more of a pain than I thought to find one, so I asked him to send the connector back to me. I've already purchased a DC power supply, so I will just switch ends and send it back to him. The only reason I'm stating this is because I see all the posts referring to the original two-pin connector on the 7800, which this no longer has. I honestly didn't mean to make this more of a pain; I thought I was helping
  2. So, getting back on topic (Pac-Man) Is there *anything* we can do to try to persuade Ebivision to at least release a limited quantity of Pac-Man to us? Do the Als maybe have any ideas? (although I'm sure they've already tried...) At this point I'm hopeing someone will go with my first idea (Rob, I hope you're listening...) Hacking Jr. Pac-Man into Pac-Man... (I can dream, can't I?) I wish I had the time and the patience to either learn how to program the 2600 or comment & disassemble the Jr. cart...
  3. Thanks Moycon If there's interest, I may continue and change the "fruit" to a cherry and try to figure out where the maze is kept... (There is a section easily seen where the maze is displayed, but unfortunately the actual boundaries are held elsewhere)

  5. Moycon: Looks like you are going to need some more glossy sticker paper soon... Oh crap! I just missed my 100th post!

That's right, NE146 - that's what I liked about Ms. Pac as well... But one thing I noticed, it's only because the Red and Pink monsters move randomly the first 6 seconds (before the 1st reversal). The Aqua and Gold monsters still look for their respective corners of the screen (as in Pac-Man). Pay careful attention the next time you play! That makes all the difference in the world. As far as Twin Galaxies, I've actually seen that, but it's more fun when you have people you relate with to talk about it to... (IMHO) Cool!

AAhhhhh!!! finally some competition!!! I have the arcade Ms. Pacman at home as well - and I've gotten a little past the equivalent of the nineth key in Pac-Man (where you slow down again but the monsters do not - it becomes very difficult without a pattern) What's your high? (Sorry about the OT question, it's the only one I'll ask)
  8. Hello Keep in mind that this was a hack of the Ms. Pac-Man game for the Atari 2600 - so if you have that game, you pretty much have all of the answers already... If I may say so, it is an excellent job by Rob - I got one as soon as it was available (and I own the actual arcade game!) - Do the ghosts eyes look in the direction of movement? * No, they look back and forth repeatedly - Are the ghosts four distinctly different colors? * Yes - Are all the fruits from the arcade present (along with the keys)? * Yes - When you eat the fruit, is the sound effect satisfactory? * I think so - What sound does Pac Man make while eating the dots/dashes? * Kind of like a 'crunching' sound - it sounds like it was attempted to come as close as possible to the arcade - Is there a siren sound effect in the background? * Yes - Are there any intermissions? * No - Is there a title screen? * Sort of, it's more like the 'attract mode' found in arcade games Hope this helps!
  9. Why won't they release their Pac-Man version? I'm sure many of us are dying to see that version (even a demo?) Nobody got in trouble for 'Arcade Pac-Man'... Is there a story behind this?
  10. My 'MegaMAME' and cocktail cabinet I built myself http://pacfan69.tripod.com/cabinets/id2.html [Edit]Actually, I just re-read the topic - this *is* a game (but not an Atari Console) does it count?
  11. Being a *huge* Adventure fan, I am eagerly anticipating this release I've got my checkbook ready as well!
  12. I would say, give it a try - mine might just have a short somewhere. If yours does the same thing then you might consider getting a new one - but definately try it first.
  13. Hey Kepone: I just tried it with my 7800 & NES RF and yes, it does work, but I'm not crazy about the picture (Much interference)
  14. No problem Kepone! Glad I could help. It was only sitting in my closet anyway... Thanks for the kind words

I second that, Big_Mo. The 5200 came close, but the gold & aqua monsters still did not act correctly. Thank God for MAME!
  16. Sinistar - One of my favorite games - excellent work CPUWIZ!!!

I am also dying to see that version (other than just the screenshot that's listed here) We can't talk them into maybe releaseing the ROM?
  18. That's funny - I actually have that version (I bought a bunch of boxed 7800 games on ebay a while back, but I *had* to open them) I didn't know the red end label was rare (or rareER) Although judging by the price it went at, it can't be that rare...
  19. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! That was one game I wish they would have done! (Actually, the 7800 would have been better suited for this, with the Maria chip and all)...
  20. Hello all: It's actually quite different... It *was* a Midway-made modification, because people were getting too good at the regular Pac-Man. Here are the game play differences: 1) The speed starts out *very* fast, (the speed equivalent of the Apple maze in the normal game) 2) When you eat an energizer, sometimes (at seemengly random intervals) one of the monsters does not turn blue - and it seems to always be the moster closest to you (or it's just my luck) 3) On the higher levels, when you eat an energizer, sometimes the maze *and dots* disappear (you can still eat the dots; you just can't see 'em) The maze & dots re-appear after the energizer wears off. 4) The fruit acts like an energizer; but the monsters disappear (until they start flashing), and they're worth double the points (400, 800, 1600, 3200) I actually understand this change - it makes having a 'pattern' almost impossible. 5) The energizer duration is much shorter (probably due to the game starting at such an advanced level) Now for the cosmetic differences: 1) Pac-Man's mouth is smaller at the half-open state (how many of you noticed this?) 2) The monster's eyes are one pixel closer together looking left and right, and they are one pixel lower looking up. 3) Most of the fruit has been replaced: a) Cherries -> Soda can b) Strawberry -> Tropical Drink c) Peach -> Pea Pod d) Apple remains the same e) Melon? -> Grapes (Purple) f) Galaxian remains the same g) Bell -> Bread h) Key -> Pancakes 4) The 'blue' monsters now look like fruit (see my avatar) and have a stem (?) I believe I covered everything
  21. Sorry Voltman3 & Joey I should have double checked before I posted, I got my 500k's mixed up Yes, I'm a jerk
  22. Hey Guys: Voltman3 once told me that the 5200 uses 1Meg pots in their sticks (?I was building a digital replacement, and needed to know the 'center' values, and it was approx 500K. HTH
  23. I had actually noticed this too almost immediately, but I just figured there was a reason and left it at that
  24. Very Cool (I would like to see the inside too)
  25. Is the Ebvision Pac-Man & Ms.PacMan available for purchase / rom download? That version looks excellent!
