Who Has Hacked Up A 5200 and What Did You Do?
PacManPlus replied to voiddweller's topic in Atari 5200
It's been great - my friends and I have played it for hours, and it hasn't overheated! I love the idea of playing the actual arcade games with a 2600 joystick, as well Since then, I've taken a non-working 5200 trackball, arcade joystick, and a keyboard ps2 connector keypad and merged them, so the joystick is where the trackball used to be, and the keypads actually are connected to the keyboard keypad. Did that make sense? -
Who Has Hacked Up A 5200 and What Did You Do?
PacManPlus replied to voiddweller's topic in Atari 5200
Hello: I don't know if this counts, but I 'gutted' a dead 5200 and replaced it with a small PC motherboard and made a 'multi game machine' out of it... (thread is below) http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ghlight=#138192 -
I read somewhere that Jr. Pac-Man was on that list - that I would love to see!
-
That's odd; I just ordered a few things from them and I believe my total was exactly that (or *very* close)
-
I've noticed the recent rash of 5200 & 2600 prototypes (and I've heard that there are quite a few more 5200 prototypes that haven't been released yet) - and that got me wondering why there aren't any for the 7800. The only thing I can guess is because of the 7800's short lifespan? Or because it was right in the middle of the 'Atari breakup'? *There should have been a 7800 version of Sinistar!*

Aren't there any Expos or Board members from NY/LI? :(
PacManPlus replied to PacManPlus's topic in Atari 2600
I am on the South Shore - Babylon area (Suffolk) Very true about the Belt - it seems to have only gotten worse over the years - they should make a second level! For that and the LIE -

How long a drive is it? I will have to add about 1 hour to that figure, as I live on Long Island, and it takes me approx 1 hour to get to the city... Thanks everyone -
Hello all: I always see posts from people getting together in Chicago, DFW (see a few threads down), New England, and even overseas getting these cool meetings and expos. I'm jealous! I would *love* to see a CGE here in the Long Island area (or at least in NYC) - or some sort of meeting around here... Oh, well

That's funny; I had to do the same thing for a trackball I won on eBay (I knew it didn't move up/down when I bid on it, but I was sure I could fix it) What I ended up doing was replacing the vertical collector with the same part from an arcade trackball and after a few tries (because it was a little difficult to solder) it worked! I hope this helps...

I still think It would be cool to hack Jr Pac-Man into either Regular Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man (with a scrolling screen a'la NES - we could fit the whole actual board on it now!) or one of the bootlegs - like Hangly-Man.... I wish I could do that - I definately would have done it already :(
-
I actually have an extra Picture Label Space Invaders, Picture Label Lower Case Missle Command, Text Label Adventure, and Text Label Air-Sea Battle if anyone here needs to begin/enhance their collection... Church?
-
That is true, but that happens no matter which way the monster's eyes are facing...
-
Xot: I hate to disagree with you, but as far as the arcade game, the monsters absolutely *can* kill you no matter which way the eyes are facing. If you are running along a path with no dots, you actually outrun the monsters until the *very* late rounds. (Except sometimes blinky, who gets a burst of energy toward the end of a round and moves *much* faster then you) If there is a monster directly in front of you, you can catch up to him and die. (I've done it - only because I've had one directly behind me as well)
-
It happens on both - I first found out on the cart, and I then tried it on an emulator to see if it consistent I love finding things like that
-
This is just something I've noticed.... If you leave an energizer as the very last dot on the screen, the next screen starts off with the monsters having the 'scared faces'. But, they are their original color, move at the normal speed, and can be eaten! (that is until they flash, and turn back)... Just something fun to try

This thing is great! I've made a crude one and it works! I would like to make one that actually clips into the holes left by the the rubber boot after you pull it out, but for the meantime this will do If anyone wants the Publisher layout for this (like pictured above), e-mail me and I'll send it to you
-
Sounds Cool How should we go about doing this then? I most likely want Super Pac, Asteroids, and Millipede It's too bad you don't have Stargate, Jr. Pac, and some others - I now have those as well! Let me know
-
Hey Al... It's hard for me to say what I would pay for a label - I would guess a buck or two per label is the maximum... Does that sound horrible? Thanks
-
I have three controllers and a trackball!! (Should be interesting playing with the trackball)
-
Hello Is there any way we can download/purchase just the labels for those of us who already own the carts? I like yours better than the ones I created...
-
Hello Everyone... I have a few doubles of 5200 games I would like to trade and was curious to know if anyone wanted them... The ones I have are Galaxian, Centipede, Super Breakout, Pole Position, Dig Dug, Berzerk, Defender, and of course, Pac Man. I am looking for Super Cobra, Megamania, Kaboom, or Gorf for the 5200, and Jr.PacMan or Superman for the 2600. Of course, I am assuming a few of my carts would be traded for a single one of the ones I want. Thanks in advance!
-
Thanks for the support - I am going to try a few I'll let you know how they work... If they work well, I'll post the publisher file itself here, so anyone who wants to make these can do so (I don't have the resources to mass-produce these, otherwise I would).
-
I never seem to have any original ideas Well, I guess it's been done. But - does this company still make them? Do people still want these things? (I'm still going to make mine) Oh well...
