Thank you, -^Cro§Bow^- ...and thanks much, Mitch... Anything would help... So, it looks like not all of the legs of this chip (35AB - NZ17) are connected to something. I can see where the left four lead to... but two of the right legs don't seem to go anywhere. In the picture, I think I am correct in tracing the Dark Blue, Purple, Cyan, and Light Green traces. I have no idea where the Red trace goes... and I *think* the Yellow and Dark Green are correct. The Dark Green seems to also be connected to the bottom of R6. The black traces don't go anywhere? If anyone can tell, please let me know if I am correct, as the traces on my board are completely gone. I'm going to have to run jumper wires all over the place.

He was very helpful when I was porting Frenzy / Berzerk to the 7800. Super nice guy. RIP Alan. (For anyone who doesn't know, he was the programmer of the arcade version of Berzerk and Frenzy)

I'm watching all of the reviews, some good, some not so good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp7AayGDDbU This person was very kind. I can say that at least one time Chris mentioned to me about possibly doing a downloadable version of the game, and possibly carts made if Hallmark / Nintendo will allow it. It wasn't brought up after that, so I don't know if that is still in the plans. RB *was* written for the NES platform. I don't know about Robotech; I didn't do that one.

Holy Crap! He helped me with my port of Frenzy / Berzerk on the 7800 (and then the NES). I had no idea he passed. RIP Alan.

The close up pics, that is. I know I said 'scan' but I did mean 'picture'... Don't know why I wrote 'scan'...

That would be wonderful if you could do that... It would help a lot. Thank you

Going blind trying to see where the traces go to this chip... Ugh. ...even *with* a microscope.

Hi guys: Does anyone have a scan of their CCII board (preferably hi-res if possible). I really only need the area just under the SD card holder (with the plastic part removed if possible)… I've decided to re-visit trying to fix my CCII so I have a multi-cart for my rec room, but the traces around that area are worn away. I want to try jumpering the traces to the chip that's directly underneath the SD card holder (just beneath the 'U7' label). Thanks, guys Bob

Has anyone done a Defender hack off the original defender?
PacManPlus replied to rallyrabbit's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
Just wanted to chime in here and say "thank you" for this. -
That looks freakin' awesome.

If you listen closely to the fade-out on 'Rio' (Duran Duran) you will hear that the song actually ends. Why bother fading out a song if it's just going to end at that exact point anyway? I've wondered this ever since the song's release.
-
-
Some songs can't seem to decide if they want to fade or want to end
...I'm sure when they play it live they have an ending. -
I hate it when a song fades right when some sort of solo starts or some previously unheard element just starts... why?

I'd like to reserve 5 of these (please): 1908FPb VD N (no stand) but I'm also waiting for any others that will have s-Video inputs. If you want to PM me with your address, I will send you payment for at least these 5... but don't send them yet in case you get any more in with S-Video inputs (please). … if that is ok... So, to clarify, I am definite on these 5, but may be getting more if you get any with s-Video inputs. Thank you, Bob

Most games are *NOT* abandonware. Homebrews, definitely not - and most 2600 games properties are owned by Atari, or whoever licensed them to Atari (i.e. arcade conversions). This, however, should be ok (I would think):

Actually, if I do these, they will be cart only. Al will have the CIB version.

WOW! CNN reports an Apple IIe still works!
PacManPlus replied to cbmeeks's topic in Apple II Computers
I must have been lucky then - I recently backed up all of my original Apple IIc disks from the mid 80s (I have about 50 of them)... Every one of them read, and I kept them in an attic on Long Island for 13 years... -
Thanks, guys... I know I had said that I wasn't going to make any carts myself... But this part is kind of fun.

Thanks, guys. So... I got my new 3D printer in, third time is the charm, I guess. Creality 3D CR-X dual extruder. I haven't used the dual color yet, but at least I made some shells: Red, light blue, marble, pink, and pink. The pink and light blue are for Baby Pac-Man (we really don't know if it is a boy or girl, no?)... I may just make a handful of these (cart only)... not sure yet. I have two sets of carts in the .gcode file, takes 13 hours to print 2 cases. Looks cool, no?

This is actually the thread that started it all (and the reason why I keep erroneously referring to it as 'Wonder Boy'. I've never actually played the game, just watched a few videos of the various incarnations of it). http://atariage.com/forums/topic/190094-wonderboy-on-the-7800/page-1

Thanks, guys. Ok, point taken. Thank you for being candid and honest. Truth be told, I was going to add platforms that move vertically (like SMB), but I couldn't get it to work. And if I were being completely transparent, anything that is *not* there that is relative to both SMB and Wonder Boy I most likely either couldn't get working or flat out didn't know how to do. I did add a few things I learned along the way (i.e. the parallax scrolling), however. Hopefully I can do better with ReZolve and / or Adventure III. Thanks again, guys Bob

Thanks, guys - you are all so kind... I wasn't really trying to put myself down, I was just trying to state how GOOD a job he did with this game. It definitely raised the bar; some amazing work he did. Thank you. *That* is constructive criticism... Not the other guy (I forget his name) that just said "It wasn't good enough" and never said why. I care what everyone thinks. @NostAlgae37: A statement and a question: I don't know if you know this, but I introduce a new enemy every few levels... Also, what is meant by 'too linear'? I tried to keep the spirit of SMB with some elements of Wonder Boy. If you consider either of those games too linear, then I understand. But if BBCQ is and the others aren't, please tell me what is different about this one. I'd like to know for next time so I can create a better game, like when I do Adventure III or ReZolve. Thanks, Guys Bob

Not a chance - Baby Pac-Man isn't even in the same universe as Rikki & Vikki - none of my games are. I had to end up asking him how he got so many colors in 320B mode, with transparency on. (Normally you would have 2 colors in 2 palettes, and possibly a third if the bitmap colors were set up in a very specific way). What he did was nothing short of astonishing.

Hi guys: sixersfan105: I usually contact Marc via PM here on AA. BBA: Thanks, nice looking cart... I need to get a good 3D printer. Can anyone recommend a good dual-extruder model? MrBeefy: Hopefully when Al is ready and able he can add it to the store (I hope?)
-
Well, it looks like the Pink cart is out. My 3D printer had died a few weeks ago, and I replaced it with a dual extruder model. It had a BUNCH of issues (it was a GEEETECH A20M 3D), so I returned it. I actually found a 3D printer with *four* extruders (i.e. 4-color) that was the same price as my original 3D printer. Crane M3D Quad - got it in today (I'm home sick... slight case of Vertigo this morning, it lasts about 4 hours). This one trips my breaker whenever I turn it on. I've been calling support since 1:00. Nobody got back to me. So I'm packing this printer up too and sending it back. I think I'm going to wait a while before I get anything else 3D printer related. These last two experiences left a bad taste in my mouth.

Just got my box in from Marc. Again, I have to say, both Marc and Atariboy2600 did some AMAZING work on the box and artwork, respectively. CIB Game is now complete. Thinking of 3D printing a pink cartridge case to go with this....
