  1. ...Good news, bad news... Good new: I now also have a French Secam Keystone Kapers ! (see pictures). Bad new: it doesn't work at all. Tried it, cleaned it, tried it in five different consoles, cleaned it again, etc, etc, no luck.
  2. Note: the "SECAM Keystone Kapers" is a "France only" deal; I'll try to get it. Let's hope. Note: the "SECAM Space Shuttle" is not a "France only" deal; seller (named "lilifromaix") accepts international buyers (just contact him); and it's a "direct buy" (7€) deal (ie: no bids). Someone should try to get it now, and then dump it.
  3. (I've just seen a "SECAM Keystone Kapers" on France's eBay today. I'll try to get this one also). (Also a "SECAM Space Shuttle" on France's eBay).
  4. Is it possible to add a "very-too-much interlaced display mode" in Stella ? ie: in "zoom x2", the first line is drawn as a displayed line then a black line, the second line is displayed as a displayed line then a black line, etc. Next frame will show the first line as a black line then a displayed line, the second line as a black line then a displayed line. Etc, etc, odd, even, odd, even. Result animation will be a flickering/interlaced picture, near of TV's hardware. Sometimes a homebrew game is perfect on the emulator but sucks on TV, because of TV's interlacing. Simulating such a behavior would be helpful (ie: it will also suck on the emulator, so the programmer can try to fix it). Note: the phosphor effect can also be added to this mode (ie: real line then ghost of previous line, real line then ghost of previous line, etc; then ghost of previous line then real line, then ghost of previous line then real line, etc). Note: it would be possible only with x2 zoom (or x4). Thanks.
  5. I should try to dump it, but I don't have all the needed things. Afaik, one needs a special rom (with a dumper program), and a special cable (from 2600 joystick to PC serial port). I do have a lot of virgin 2732s, but no more working eprom burner. And I don't have the cable (but it seems easy to build one). I should ask my kids first. Hero is their current favorite game . I'll then send it to someone (France, Europe) to dump it (or buy it, or trade it). I'll also scan the cartridge (high-res flatbed scan) to add the label to the database. Thanks.
  6. I can confirm that the French Secam "<S>" version of H.E.R.O. has a Secam palette and is different from the PAL version.
  7. Did someone dump the Secam/French version of "H.E.R.O. (Activision)" ? I do have one such cartridge now. It's the French Secam one: the "<S> sticker" (for "Secam") on the label, the French text on the label, the French text on the screen, the Secam-optimized palette during the game... (With a PAL console, the Secam game just sucks: it displays mostly grey shades but the player's hero has colors). Here are some pictures (Secam game on Secam console, Secam game on PAL console, cartridge).
  8. Hello, I'm looking for a high-resolution flatbed-scanned image of the 2600's wood. Even Google failed to find one. Thanks. (Aim is to print it and then stick it on a black 2600)
  9. Hello, Vanguard is quite a good game, but the last boss fight is really lame. (ie: two seconds to kill the ugly snowman). Do you think it would be a better game with a real long hard boss fight ? (ie: a evil boss with an huge energy meter, needing many shots to be destroyed). Thanks.

  11. Best is to look at wikipedia's. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pangramme https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portez_ce_vieux_whisky_au_juge_blond_qui_fume Etc.
  12. 8 KB addressable space divides as: - 4 KB to talk to the ROM addresses. - 4 KB to talk to the RAM addresses. (There's only 128 bytes of RAM in this 4 KB space, though).
  13. The French 7800 are all PAL. SECAM 7800 doesn't exist. (French 2600 were SECAM only).
  14. One link about "Jaguar and Péritel": http://bx.yaronet.com/posts.php?s=147359 "ZeroSquare" said: cut the wire of the #16 scart pin, cut the wire of the #8 scart pin, solder a 220 omhs resistor (red red brown gold) to the cut #8 wire, solder the other end of the resistor to the #16 pin of the scart. (Someone needs to test that).
  15. Myth: Atari VCS 2600 can only display 8 colors. Eight horrible ugly colors. That hurt eyes. A lot. Truth: French Secam consoles only display 8 awful colors. So, yes, myth is true for the poor French. (Pal and Ntsc are far far far better). (2600 Junior is Pal-only: no Secam Junior).
  16. Most modern TVs has problem with old scart consoles. (What a pitty). Some can roll, some can flash, some display nothing, some are just good without a problem. One guy told me about his similar problem years ago. (Was it a guy with a NeoGeo ?). He added some capacitors inside the scart, to reduce the signal going from the console to the TV. The signal was "too strong", and the TV was going crazy. By reducing it a bit, the TV keeps calm and the picture was perfect (I'll try to find more details about that).
  17. It seems that "Activision Anthology" has been updated a few days ago...
  18. Afaik, Jim Huether keeps the WarLords painting in his home, because it shows Jim dressed as a knight...
  19. Note that the source code of "Eastern Front" was sold on APX catalog. One could buy it and do whatever wanted with it.
  20. - It's an emulator.- Roms can be found in app's directory. - One can put another rom by overwritting a genuine rom. - But... emulator is not perfect. Some things seem hardwired with genuine roms.
  21. On a 3GS, the picture is really "dirty" and "washed". On a Retina iMachine (iPhone4, IpodTouch4, etc), the picture is "clear" and "nice". The 3GS picture should be fixed: it's very horrible. Also, colours seem to suck in many games; they seem so "wrong". Perhaps a "pause" button in the upper left corner should be great (better than clicking on "options" for a pause). Is the emulator good enough ? Can I try my own homebrew game with it ? Or does it work only with real genuine Activision games ?
