  1. Just curious as to what this thing is worth as I don't really need it anymore, but couldn't find anything about it on the net. I found one other one like it on Ebay, but it was pretty beat up. All of the other ones I found were made of black vinyl. This one is in pretty good shape, it says Nintendo on the badge in the corner, holds 10 NES games, and (obviously) is grey. Any info would be appreciated!

  2. Just a quick update, some time ago I owned a game called wacky races for the Dreamcast, but it got broken and I miss it very much. good game. anyway, I had requested it on this site, but didn't have enough points. bummer, oh well. so I sent out contra on Saturday, and yesterday, it arrived. the user gave me positive feedback and I received 200 point for it. Well, turns out that Wacky races stayed in my requests list, and since it cost 150 points, and I got 200 for contra, the game was automatically traded, and shipped out the same day! Woohoo!

  3. Hello all, I still drop in occasionally, and this is one of those times. I'd just like to point out a really cool game trading site called Goozex. I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but I just found it. You basically list your games, then someone requests them, you ship them to that person, get points, and you can use those points for any other game! Plus, they have plenty of systems so you can do what I'm doing and get rid of a whole bunch of Genesis sports games that you never play and get Super Paper Mario on the wii :D . Anyway, here is a referral link if you want to help me out;

    or if you are incredibly mean, here is the normal link;

    Cheers!

  4. Don't you just love when they put the price sticker right on the label.

I hope they peel off nice for ya. Nice find at a buck each!

I have about four Goodwills that I frequesnt regularly and after telling them enough times, a couple of the stores have actually started putting the sticker on the back on plastic only. One store even has started pricing sports games cheaper than non-sport as I have suggested - loose sports games from older systems at .99 or 1.99 while the non sport are 1.99 - 3.99. They still think that Xbox and PS2 are current systems and price stuff at 7.99 - 9.99. Morgan

That bugs the hell out of me too, I've had several good games and boxes that would be in perfect condition if the store didn't slap a label on it or tape them all together. They also sell games for outrageous prices, I do think Morgan is on to something.

  5. After nearly 2 years, in which I found new hobbies, got settled, and became a tad more refined, I am finally close to getting my Atari 400 running! Thanks to kind forum member, Atariksi, an AC adapter has arrived along with a 410 tape recorder (which I ruined,) and a star raiders cart! I hooked everything up, and it worked beautifully! :D I still can't play star raiders though.

What's stopping you from playing Star Raiders? I don't think that one requires a touchpad like the Atari 2600 one.

I can play it, I just don't know how! :D

  6. I'm curious as to why so many people seem to have keyboards that have a broken spacebar after typing a punctuation mark.

As am I  , some peoples keyboards don't even have punctuation marks! Or capital letters. (or so it would seem)

    I blame the Illuminati! :x

lol! I blame the other-worldly force that steals the screws to your Atari 410 and gives you extra ones that don't belong anywhere.

  8. Now, the 410. when I plugged it in, it would sort of work. apparently, there was no signal coming out of it, and the tape heads needed a little help spinning at times. I thought it just needed to be taken apart and oiled. not a good idea. I lost 2 screws, and now have one orphan screw, and the heads won't spin at all. I think the oil is making them slip. :( so, if anyone needs a 410 for parts or anything, PM me. and I repeat, it does not work. The 400 does though! and should be loads of fun once i get more games. :)

  9. I am using this schematic of the PONG arcade system, http://www.atarihq.com/danb/files/PongSchematic.pdf , but have some questions. do the resistors like the one on the HSYNC board hooking up to +5V have any specific value? there isn't one on any schematic I can find.

Those resistors are pull-up resistors. They are holding the particular inputs at a logic high level. Pull-up resistors usually range in value from 1k ohm to upwards of 10k ohms. You can safely use 2.2k or 2200 ohm (red-red-red-gold - 4band, red-red-black-brown-gold - 5band).

Thank you very much! that is exactly what I needed. :D

  10. Every time I've been told, "Stay away from brand X controller", the opposite seems to be true. I was told to avoid High Frequency branded controllers for Sega Genesis, but have three of them and they all are great as far as I can tell. I have Mad Catz controllers for GC and Xbox, along with a racing wheel/pedals set for PS2. They all work great, Only thing, and it was mentioned earlier in this thread, is the rubber grips sometimes come off the sides of their controllers. Nothing that a little contact cement won't fix.

Anger and video game controllers do not mix well...

seems like third party stuff is mostly hit and miss, so I generally stay away from it. Also, we've since moved, and the people here are a lot nicer, its also a lot less stressful, so I guess I've calmed down as I haven't broken another controller since! :)

  11. welcome back:D

Sorry you have not got a power supply sorted yet. You could try an ad in the marketplace wanted forum, or Best Electronics sell new ones. but if you can get a 9 volt AC or DC power supply that has at least 1 amp output you would be good to go.

    http://www.myatari.com/atarixlh.txt

Thanks! and yeah, I probably will end up going with them, but I prefer to deal via the forum first. more comfortable. :) and what do you mean by a 400 I/O Rob?

I can send you a power supply for A400-- just pay for the shipping. Pmail me. I'm surprised you're still looking for one after about 2 years.

Here's what it states on the A400 power supply and it's same for A800 and 1050 disk drives:

    Power Supply

    Part Number CO17945

    INPUT: 120V, 60Hz, 50W

    OUTPUT: 9V AC, 31VA

thank you so much! I will hopefully have it working soon! :D it's taken nearly two years, but what the hey, it'll be worth it.

I have an extra tape player too if you want it since DOS may be too much for a 16K machine.

That would be great! you just made my day! :D

That would increase shipping costs though.

thats fine! ho much would it be then?

  12. man, that was terrible... I sound like a whiney little brat! :| sorry y-bot.

Ha ha the OP posted this yesterday and i didnt realize it was so long ago. Well they said they still hadnt done it. So maybe i did help out afterall. :)

you sure did! thanks! :D and I am just reconstructng it and adding my own little touches like adjustable ball speed/ paddle size, etc.

  14. i figured out that those are crap, my sister had a mini gamecube controller. after about 5 months, the thing worked only half the time. by month 6 or 7, the thing went berzerk! it did whatever it wanted. i played kirby airride with it, and it made kirby go everywhere that i didnt want. im never going to buy one ever again.

we had the same one... :|

  15. I remember in the 80s they taught LOGO in schools in the UK on BBC computers. Some people laugh at it but between that and my C64 I learned enough and eventually ended up with a job as a software engineer at a graphics company, so it can't have been all bad.

It was fun running the turtle around a piece of paper to make it draw, although I think we did quite literally hang it (from its own cable) by spinning it endlessly until it wrapped the cable around itself.

Now I'm thinking about it I've got a mix of LOGO and lightcycles in my head... wonder what I can do with that?

Funny, I was thinking about LOGO the other day. I would really like to build a turtle robot that would interface with Atari LOGO. I can design / build the hardware but I am not sure how to interface it to LOGO. I do have a copy of Atari LOGO but I don't think it has the ability to interface with a robot turtle. Anyway, a pen drawing robot is something I have always wanted for my Atari and even if it doesn't work with LOGO, it would be a cool device to experiment with. Anyone else interested in such a project?

I just found this article and I would like to base my Turtle on this one - Terrapin Turtle:

    terrapin Robot.PDF

-and If anyone else has any other info on the Terrapin turtle, such as measurements, I would greatly appreciate it.

That would be cool, I too can imagine it being fairly easy to build with the hard part being the interfacing. :?

  17. I am in need of an atari 400 AC adapter, as it came with a 5200 AC adapter. And yes, I know that this is like my fourth post on this subject, but all of the other ones were too insufficient to bump so If a mod or admin could delete all of the others, that would be great.

  19. STILL here and STILL in need of a 400 adapter. Just checked, it is STILL in my closet, and it is an 11.5 volt version, and it works.

I'm confused by all these threads about this needed 400 power supply. Instead of going on for literally years about this, why not just buy one from Best Electronics as several people have already suggested?

    http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/power%20guide.htm

I just might do that, but I'd rather get something that I don't need out to someone that does need it for something I do need first, If I cannot get the trade, I guess I'll be stuck with this one! and If an admin or moderator could delete all of my topics with similar titles, that would be great.
