  1. I'm new and this is my first post, so if this info has been posted before, I'm sorry. I believe that "classic" systems should be described in generational terms. I know, the term "generation" has been used too much to describe too many things, but hear me out. The 2600, 5200, Coleco, Intellevision and everything before is first generation. They were the good stuff before the fallout of 1984. That's when many people outgrew video games ( not me! ), but it's also when the NES was introduced. Thus began the second generation of consoles (including Sega Original System, Game Boy, and others). The thrid generation was prematurely introduced by the Jaguar, but was system that symblises this gen. was the Super Nintendo (and the Genisis). The forth gen. is the beginning of CD type players (Playstation, Sega Satern). The only cartrige console of this generation is the Nintendo 64. The latest gen. (the fifth) is an emphsis on memory and graphics (Playstation 2, Gamecube, Dreamcast, X-Box). Only rock and roll has gone through so many changes and survived. You will notice that the changes come when casual player think they are too old to play "these childish games". I hope that gaming goes backward to the past (like rock does when it become stagnate) for more hand-eye cordination games (which I kick a*s at but my 9 year son can't do at all) and escape these "wandering around for hours to find a thing" games. Thank you for listening.
