  1. Didn't nintendo convince Joseph Lieberman that the objective of the game "night trap" was to

commit acts of violence against women, which kicked off the 1993 congressional hearing on

violence in video games in an attempt to knock sega out of the market.

Wasn't Night Trap a Sega game? So once again, Sega.

  2. I do enjoy my 7800 but never had one in the day. I went from 2600 to 800. Seriously, if you knew a few people you could get any game for your computer, kind of like now but there was no significant checks back then to prevent you from enjoying a pirated game. I had a board in my 800 that when you flipped a switch on the back you could do whatever you wanted with the game, reprogram, copy, whatever.

I always wanted a 7800 but once I got my computer that was good enough, plus I was a teenager and could not afford one, obviously my parents bought the 2600 and 800.

I do love my 7800 I have now though. If it had come out in 83 or 84 would NES games be worth so much?

  3. Simple answer, no. As stated the 3 current systems are having hard enough of a time, people are even ripping on the Wii now. I do really enjoy my 360 but unless Nolan came out with a holodeck there is no way.

  4. Personaly I would say Sega. I bought every one of thier systems, couldn't wait for the CD or the 32x, then the Saturn, and so on, bought them all. Too bad they kept killing systems.

edit: Thinking about it Atari did pretty good at that too, loved my 800 but it never really lived up to potential, still Sega broke the most promises.

  5. I try to control things, two things that work are not having any money and not going to garage sales, fleas, etc.. I still think about getting rid of stuff all the time that I really don't care about like all the Nintendo stuff but then think 'What if I find a nice lot and want to test the games? I need a console for that'. Walking past any classic gaming items is hard for me so it continues to grow.

Not a fan of emulation, the only thing I really emulate are arcade games. The reason I got into collecting consoles was when I had to sell my arcade games when I moved (still regret that, had almost 50 games) I decided to switch to home systems since they would be easier to move around. The first thing I did was build a monster MAME controller, thing is friggin' huge but there are only about 2 dozen games I can't play with proper controls so it works well for me. Of course now I have about 6 arcade games again with two that I can switch boards in so I can play quite a few of my favorites.

The whole point of collecting smaller more movable things seemed good but now if I boxed up all my consoles and games it would take up at least as much space as 10 or so arcade games. Some of us need help.

  6. Well, I'd say you could aim this at anyone with $50 to spend who:

    A) Wants brand-new hardware with a warranty

    B) Doesn't shop at goodwill (for lots of people, it ISN'T a way of life)

    c) Doesn't pick trash

    D) Had completely forgotten about "Those old games" until they saw this thing at Target

If the quality is the same between the new hardware and the old, and the price is close, I'm betting a lot of people will opt to get the new stuff. Hell, the convention circuit ALONE could probably move a thousand units or so.

What about the Flashback 2? It was new hardware and made people remember those old games without going to Goodwill or the dump. It did well but not well enough that it would justify Sega or Nintendo making a new unit. With all the plug n play games the general public really doesn't notice all the details and I just don't see it being a great money maker.

  7. I have always considered this to be 'the grail' of consoles and have dreamed of one since the 80's. When they came out I couldn't afford one and haven't been able to since. I think I have maybe, maybe seen two of them sell over the years, there can not be many left. Laserdisc games have always been one of my favorites and I have had a few. My biggest regret was my cockpit MACH III, it was mint, built it out of three cabs an old operator was getting rid off. Took the mint condition cab and pulled parts from the other two and it was sweet, had to sell when I moved to Florida years ago, should have put wheels on it and towed it here.

I keep hoping to find a Halcyon at a flea or garage sale one day, hey, a guy can dream.

  8. So what's the response time on it? I've seen reports here about people using various joysticks/adapters and having problems with things like Pac Man not turning corners fast enough. Does this one work as expected?

So, before this gets lost in more complaints, does anyone that's received theirs have any comments on its performance? :)

I am not complaining yet, just asking for an update.

Now this might be more towards complaining, Curt posted tonight on these boards, why can't he post to this topic? Like I said I understand problems and such but it seems like the last two months he has just ignored this. Curt took all our money no problem and still has it, why can't he let us know what is happening? He doesn't even reply to one members request for a refund after over six months of waiting. Yes he has done alot for the Atari community and hopefully will for years to come but this really is dropping the ball.

Like I said, am I asking for too much here?

  9. I ordered mine on November 19. I e-mailed in early December and got the response I put in post #17 about delayed manufacturing and such. I know Curt has had problems in the last year but I have sent three e-mails in the last couple of months and a copy of my Google receipt in case it was one of the lost ones but have not even received a form e-mail or any kind of response. The site has not been updated in well over a month so that is no help. Like I said, I understand problems but I have been very patient, I know Curt has been on this site recently, all I am asking for is at least an e-mail saying he does have my order on record and be honest and say it will be shipped in another month, or two, or whatever.

If anyone feels I am being unreasonable please say so, all I am asking for is at least to hear for myself from Curt that he has my order and it will eventually ship.
