  1. but for regular old arcade games there should be some kind of price cap. Like... 800points.... ? :ponder:

You think $10.00 is fair for a single classic game? :ponder:

Really, look at all those anthology & collection discs released by the likes ot Atari, Activision, Capcom, Midway, Sega. Take the cost and divide by the number of games they contain. Further remember, they also come with physcial media, case, fancy graphics covers and extras. Shit, even look at Plug & Play hardware from the likes of Jakks. Cost divided by game count - still comes out cheaper then typical XBLA prices, and again, you're actually getting something. Physcial hardware and electronics.

Personally, I don't think anything on XLBA should cost more then 200 points - $2.50.

Well, ok, maybe some of the newer stuff like Duke Nuken 3D; I'd be willing to go as high as 400 points - $5.00). That's about what you'd probably find it at a store for if they had any to sell, $4.99 in the discount bin.

But as it stands now, all their prices for games are a "exploiting the retro gaming market" rip-off. Only prices on XBL that are fair are for media like TV and movies.

I couldn't have said it better. The main thing that keeps me from downloading games is the fact I have no actual copy of it. What happens when my HD dies? Do I get a free d/l to replace the game I lost? Being a collector I want physical media to have years from now.

I really do like Live though. I have rented a couple of movies and have downloaded songs for GH and RB. I also like the live ticker in Tiger Woods and the instant challenges that will pop up. Overall I am really happy with everything but the d/l game prices really are too high and I doubt I will get any of them.

  2. I just wish mine would get here already. Told they would be here by Christmas when I ordered. I understand the problems but if you have them now finally to ship out why the delay? My first email got a response that I posted above, I emailed again about 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing. You would think when selling a product, taking the money upfront and promising a delivery date when problems arise you could at least contact the buyers.

I respect Curt and what he has done for the community but he hasn't even posted anything here and as you can see a few people have had questions. I have seen him posting in other threads and thought it curious he avoids a thread about a product he is selling. It is great they sold out and there are plans for a new run, but how long will that take, or how long will he hold on to peoples money without really saying anything?

So, has anyone got theirs yet???

  3. Why have media mail at all? Does media mail get any more special treatment then first class? Does it ship faster?

Why isn't there one price based on weight and or size for unusual objects with the differences being how fast the shipping is. Why have this grey area? If you are shipping a package of novels that weigh 5 pounds or a bunch of games or anything else that weighs 5 pounds and you want it there in a few days it should cost the same, just as any same size package you want overnight should cost the same.

What exactly is the point of media mail?

  4. For that kind of money that is some scary feedback in the last few months. I'm really glad I don't collect NES besides cheap finds here and there. I was into Atari computers when the NES came out and never paid it any attention. I much prefer being an Atari collector, too many crazy things with Nintendo and auctions.

  5. Just a thought, In the future when posting a question about something for sale on CL or ebay instead of just posting a link how about a little info on what it is? CL is real bad for links because items get flagged or sold and removed so quick you might be the only person who gets to see it, which makes for a lot of useless threads.

I am in no way directing this just at you McCallister, or saying you did anything wrong. I just like to read a thread and know what is being discussed, I also really like to see what prices are around the country or enjoy stories of overpriced items.

  6. Do you think we could work out a deal for the Saturn?

Just kidding, great listings. The few times I have sold items (I have a problem selling anything) my auctions start at .99 and I would never stop an auction for a side deal either, seen that way too many times. If you list an item properly and it actually is anything decent it will sell for a decent price. Maybe not as much as you had hoped but that is part of it. You could just keep relisting with an obscene opening bid or reserve and hope you get lucky one day. Sorry, getting off on an ebay rant, but it is nice to see honest people out there.

Anyways, what I want are the Kings Island Viewmaster discs, I used to have those as a kid, remember a few nice trips to KI as a kid, maybe I should just go bid.

  7. HDD install makes a huge difference on Tiger Woods. The load times aren't much faster but the DVD spins so much during this game, didn't even realize it till I installed and played a game, so quite now. I have all my games installed on my drive to save on DVD spinning.

I read on other forums that the extra use on the DVD could speed up the RROD especially if you play for long periods. Don't know if it is true but I have a new 'better' system where the RROD is less(?) of a problem so they say but I figure it can't hurt.

  8. Can not believe all the demo kiosks, and the estimates are all $100 - 200. I think they will go for a bit more, simply amazing collection. It seems they are basing most of the prices on the arcade stuff by age, the older the less the estimate. They estimate a Neo-Geo arcade at $200 but a new Pac / Galaga cocktail for $2000-3000.
