  1. I would still like some better pics or a better description, not that I'm going to bid at $140 starting. But, come on, an rc battery strapped to the back and the cart too? How do you play this? Holding it straight out in front of you? Then hope the battery doesn't fall off?

If I am out of line please correct me, but that doesn't look all that good.

  2. Like I said, I kind of understand because a lot of Atari stuff has gone pretty cheap lately and luckily I have been able to grab a few things I needed. I have seen quite a few items go for way less then I thought or would have bid if I had the money, and yes, basket has had a few items bite him but he also waited quite a while to take down a repro when multiple people told him it was a repro.

I have stopped watching auctions for the most part just because I can't afford to buy much now. When this auction came up at $10 starting bid I bid right away. After I thought about it and my finances I decided this is something I have wanted to add to my collection for years so I would bid up in the end. Well nobody bid against me but we all know the real action happens at the end, most of the time. With three days to go he should have let it run, actually, he should have set a reserve at least from the get go if he feels he hasn't been getting enough.

I just have a problem with auctions being pulled for any reason. You put it up, let it run. I have had auctions go for less then I thought I would get but that is what an auction is, you take your chances, sometimes you make out, sometimes not. If he would have contacted me saying he was going to end it I would have given him the $150. He still seems like a good seller and I would buy from him in the future but pulling auctions just burns me.

  3. So a seller on ebay (someone who places lotion in a basket, you know who I mean) had Spider Maze up for auction and I'm sure some of you were watching it. Anyways, I had the high bid for a couple days now and there were 3 more days to go. Well, Mr. Basket got scared I guess since he probably hasn't been getting what he thought he would for some auctions and pulled it then reposted it at $149 bin. There were still 3 days, damn give it a chance. Funny part is I have always wanted a t-handle game and when the auction started I really thought about it and decided I would go to $150 on it. It is not my fault if nobody else bids. Now, no, this left a bad taste in my mouth. I have had so many auctions ended early on me I won't buy this now just on principle.

I guess to be fair I have seen quite a few games go way cheaper then I thought they would but if you are running an auction run it damn it!

There is a Spider Maze on ebay now for $150 if anyone is interested, he also has a Boing! for $150, that one is overpriced in my opinion but, whatever.....

    Bastards........

  4. A person about 1/2 hour away from me had a system with about 100 carts up for auction but the shipping was over $70. I e-mailed them asking if I won could I pick up the items, reply came back "I would consider it if it sells for enough"! This got me upset and wondering if there was any way to report them.

Good part though, they had Track & Field with controller listed seperate, guess they thought it was the most valuable. Got it for $3.26 and happily paid $5.99 shipping. Made me happy, they thought they would make out selling the rarest title from the collection seperate on top of the bloated shipping on that lot.

  5. I'm glad I'm not in to all this for the investment point of view. I could care less if all the carts were worth only 1$ tomorrow. why because i NEVER will sell mine! :ponder: on 2nd thought i lied! i do care! i would like for them ALL to be worth 1$ so i can get the few i need cheap! :P

    Rick

I do have to admit it would be pretty sweet if several thousand Condor Attacks, NTSC Ultrivision Karate's, and Gauntlets were found in a warehouse. :D

I AGREE!!! what about Atlantis 2 also? :P

    Rick

Already happened, I just talked to an ex-Imagic employee who confirmed that 1000 Atlantis II mask ROM's were produced and that they are most likely in a dark corner of Activision's warehouse.

    1.) Open cart.

    2.) Swap ROM.

    3.) Profit

    Really?

  6. When Atari released the VCS (2600) people were pretty tired of Pong. Atari was trying to distance the VCS from Pong as much as possible, though they did release some Pong style games. This is probably why Video Olympics isn't called Pong Olympics.

Yeah, there was already a TV Pong in everyone's house at the time. I know I had one. To re-release it again and again would seem silly. (But then, that's pretty much what they did with 2600, 5200, 7800, and 8-bit computer versions of games like Centipede, Ms. Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Mario Bros., etc.)

Another big reason for the releases across all consoles was the improved graphics. I know I sure wanted the graphics offered by the 5200 and the 8-bits even though I had them for my 2600. Never had a 5200 or 7800 as a kid but did get an 800 and the games you mentioned were so much better on it, almost like being at the arcade. But this was the early 80's when everyone just for once wanted a game that looked like the arcade or at least what was on the box. That was such a letdown as a kid when the box looked so great and then the graphics just sucked or such a hyped game like Pac-Man.

Anywho, my point is that graphicly better games made sense. The problem with Pong was that if you didn't already have it you could get it cheap enough and it already was an arcade perfect translation.

  7. Reading a thread like this to me must be how a herion addict feels when they get the good stuff. The hardware is amazing but the best part is a former employee who is willing to share. I could read stories about your former job all day sir, thank you for sharing.

  8. I laughed at that too, good one. Seems to be a good seller/buyer though. He has a couple other good auctions now too but they are going high already.

One day when the links are all dead so this makes sense:

    itplacesthelotioninthebasket ( 2140 [Feedback score is 1,000 to 4,999] )

  9. I had been thinking about getting that one as I have wanted the title for some time, it had been on my watch list. I 'won' one though a couple of days ago for $24 so I was happy. Still, I don't think you did bad because you never know where an auction will end at, I was willing to pay that eventually if nothing better came up first.

Speaking of better deals I wished I hadn't forgot to bid on this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-Atari-2600-Games-...1QQcmdZViewItem

Mr. Do and Mr. Do's Castle for $31.00?!

If anyone wants to sell me just a Castle for $31.00 I'll pay right now. (seriously)

  10. Got 14 games from him in great shape with fast shipping. If anything he overpacked them considering they were just loose carts but I tend to do the same too so I really appreciate when some one else does.

Once again, great price, shipping, and games. Thank you.

  11. Just picked up Artillery Duel / Spike's Peak today at the flea market for $1. Funny thing is you can see the label was put on top of another that lists Spike's Peak/ Ghost Manor, it is AD / SP though so maybe they actually caught one before it went out the door. Funny too they just slapped the right label over top instead of taking off the other, quality indeed. At least it works.

  12. I just bought Snoopy the other day off him for .99, never bought from Mexico before but if I get burned for $10 with shipping I won't be too upset and if I got the game for under $10 I'll be happy. He seems like a nice guy and has contacted me a couple times to let me know about shipping and such and left me a positive already. I'll let you all know if I get burned though.

  13. It is in downtown Disney which is also called marketplace because of the shops.

The arcade itself is called Disney Quest.

They currently have over 180 games all set on free play once you get in and much more.

Let us know how your trip goes and what you think of Disney. Have fun.

  14. I would love to collect all boxed but my funds do not permit me. When I was growing up I always saved all the boxes but all those got sold by my mom at garage sales in the 80's. Probably have about 100 boxed now but only because I got deals on them. For the most part I want the games, if it's a game I don't have I'll even take a messed up label just to have the game and hope to get a better one someday, if not at least I have the game.

All I'm saying is if you don't have it and can get a deal buy it. That is one more game in your collection, you might find a better one, if not you still at least own the game, even label challenged carts make good trade bait if they are rare, at least I'll buy them.

EDIT: btw, all disc based systems and even the Genesis games which came in VCR type plastic boxes I admit I'll only buy in the holder. Cart based, Atari, Nes, etc I don't care, Except Vectrex, boxed with overlay and instructions only.
