  1. HI Kevtris, I don't know if this can be done but I was wondering if it would be possible to give users the ability remap the order of the controller ports via your firmware? Maybe you've seen me venting my spleen about the retro receiver situation that arises when two (or more are in use) on the hardware thread, but I wanted to put your eyes on this because I think it's possible to ameliorate the issue (even though it's kind of 8bitdo's problem)... It seems to me that if I can put the P2 reciever just a few inches away from P1, the problem goes away... Care to save the day? Thanks for your awesome work and consideration! http://atariage.com/forums/topic/263325-analogue-nt-mini-hardware/?p=3723725
  2. I won't lie, aluminum foil has crossed my mind... I'd like something more elegant, but, if push comes to shove, I'll try it. As to 8bitdo controllers working on a real NES, I haven't tried, but I see plenty of comments that this problem exists with the RetroUSB AVS. I'm confident that the problem is interference/crosstalk (and not the hardware), I just wish that I could get 8bitdo to respond to my e-mails... I want to know from them if there is a solution; for that matter, it seems that if they offered advanced controls in their firmware updater, they might be able to allow the user to pre-select a narrower band of the BT spectrum to use for each reviewer to prevent crosstalk. Between a band-section selection option and possibly the ability to move the retro receiver from p2 to p4, maybe that'd be good enough to fix the problem... maybe. In the meantime, I got a different NES extension cable from a friend at it seems to have solved the problem for me... I'd still greatly prefer a more elegant solution, but, at least this works. (which also speaks to the problem being exactly what I/we think). 8bitdo seems like a real POS company when it comes to customer support too... 8bitdo and Analogue. A marriage made in Branson.
  3. Re my ongoing dissapoitment with the 8bitdo controller's crosstalk when using a second retro receiver: I wonder if there would be a way to reassign controller port order via firmware; i.e., make controller ports 1 and 2 resolve to physical ports 1 and 4 (and if that little space might be enough to alleviate some of the interference...)? I've purchased a NES extension cord but it's DOA, I wonder how hard it's going to be to find a functional one or some other wireless solution for the nt mini. This de-facto wired controller requirement really sucks.
  4. Yeah. You'd think. Maybe they're betting that retro gamers don't have friends. Fools!
  5. Sooooooo, anybody else here using two 8bitdo retro receivers with their nt mini? When I plug in my second player-receiver, I get all sorts of delayed responses, non-responses, un-pairings, etc for both players... I'm considering buying an extension cord to run the second receiver away from the console a bit in hopes of mitigating any interference, but it's a pretty lame solution and I'd prefer that these things just work. Anyone have any experience with this? Advice? 8bitdo doesn't say anything about this issue on their site, their contact links are just dead icons that don't link to anything, and they're ignoring a chorus of similar complaints in their forum (which won't allow new registrations... classy...). Anyhow, from looking at their forum it seems that people with the RetroUSB AVS have the same issue with these controllers... Finally, while it's not directly Analogue's problem that these controllers do not seem to work in pairs, at least their support says more on the matter than 8bitdo does offering up a firmware update for retro receivers purchased separately from the nt mini. Anyhow, that's a lot of words to ask, anybody else here have this issue? Ideas?
  6. Thank you kevtris, I can't wait to get home and play with the Channel F core (and for that matter, I can't wait to see how you've implemented the crazy controls-- I honestly can't imagine what you've done)! Thank you thank you thank you thank you (and so on)!
  7. Funny, I totally agreed with your symantics comment but then you undermined your own credibility by favoriting Frogger on the 2600! I appreciate that we're talking about opinions and personal favorites, but Frogger on the 2600?! I mean, there's even the supercharger version available for the 2600 that spanks it. Frogger on the 2600 pshaw. I love this board and thank you for the opportunity to be a troll. I'll take my lashings off the air.
  8. Kevtris, you know MK wouldn't have stood for such defects. Get it together man! PS: you rock.
  9. Having recently returned from a similar hiatus to collecting in earnest, I have to agree that prices have, shall we say, outpaced inflation. I remember not having any interest in Amiga CD32 systems when they were plentiful on eBay for an unthinkable $50. If I had only known, I would have bought them all and cornered the market. I'm happy to say that I got most of my desirable systems before this era of hyperinflation-- and I get some twisted pleasure about the value of my collection skyrocketing (though I'll never sell)-- but I really wish that prices weren't so crazy. I just want more gear... Sooooo, will prices ever come back down? Do we want them too? Is retrogaming in mainstream culture a fad or is this going to be the way going forward?
  10. Literally just got my notification. I figure this system was 40 years in the making, another few days will just give me time to manage my roms.
  11. First of all, awesome. Second, I hope you're planning on selling a box set because I want them all. Third, if there really is a board stuffing party-- where? I want to be a part of this!
  12. heh. maybe include a PSVR core while you're at it?
  13. Not exactly retro, but the original Portal is just about the most rewarding, short game I think I've ever finished.
  14. Order #3477. NOBODY TELLS MY WIFE. Seriously. This is our secret.
  15. Soooo, I'm a video editor for a living, and let me just suggest that the tool you want to use is Premiere Pro. Final Cut Pro X can do it, but the whole program is a PITA to use. iMovie, I don't know. Haven't ever actually looked at the program. Anyhow, in Premiere, you'll have to manually set up the first iteration of this effect, you'll be able to copy and paste look in the future. The basic set up on your timeline is this: Video Track 2: Duplicated Clip --> black edges cropped out (extra credit, drop shadow) Video Track 1: Original Clip --> blurred, reduced brightness Future iterations can be effected quickly by creating and saving "favorites" to your effects palate or by copying and "pasting attributes" to subsequent clips. Hope this helps.
  16. Can't wait for Analogue to get more stock. This project is so cool it's killing me. I don't know if I can make my 30 lives last.
  17. Wow! Great haul, congrats! I just went a little crazy and decided to buy a Memorex VIS with all the trimmings for an amount of money that I'm not really comfortable posting publicly. Let's just say it was mercifully less than $100 but I think that the value of my collection might have just dropped by virtue of the new neighbor moving in. Hmm. I'm not sure why I did this to myself.
  18. Hi guys, hard to know where to post this question, but it straddles a couple flashback systems, so here goes: I just purchased both an Intellivision and a Colecovision flashback in a single auction on shopgoodwill.com, which came in pretty cheap, probably because they are missing their power adaptors. That said, does anyone have the spec of the power adaptors that atgames uses? I figure I can use one of those battery eliminator doohickeys, but I don't know if the spec will be printed on the back of the console case... maybe one of you guys can look at your power adapter and let me know what the actual wall wart says? Thanks so much!
  19. Picked up a 5200 VCS adapter today for $8; got home, tried it-- didn't work... After a bit of googling, I learned about the original 4 port incompatibility issue and fix... So, I'm still kinda stoked about my purchase because now I've got an excuse to perform a little surgery on my SuperSystem. BTW, picked it up at a "The Record Exchange" in Silver Spring, MD. They price vintage carts like a thrift store; plenty of $1 carts! Seem like nice guys too.
  20. I've been a member of this board for eight years, but I've never been motivated to say anything here before. This, however, is a thing of beauty. I've met Mr Kennedy before, this seems like a highly accurate and well researched simulation. Thank you, thank you all.
