Building a secret gaming room...
frankodragon replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Looks neat. The difference between building a game room and lets say a train room, is you don't need the "zoning commission" (aka. the wife) to build a game room. It just stays in one spot. For a train layout that eventually expands into laundry territory, then you gotta get permission-especially if your wife has to duck under the plywood every time. -
Paypal should be renamed to "PayFIEND"

I used to have a Telegames Personal Arcade-now it's junk. At times the screen would turn black and white with static noise. I bought the game Alacazar and had to return it due to glitches-now I believe it the machine's fault- not the cartridge. The pause button was probably made for the SG games but cannot test- I fried the thing after trying to replace a cap and gluing a heat sink on one of the chips. I even broke the power connection and thing just went south.

Don't forget, there are often many ways of being correct. You would likely cringe at one of my eBay buying strategies; I actually seek out items from sellers with low / no feedback. After watching sale prices for years, I have seen the drastic difference in what a live auction from an unestablished seller goes for and get some fantastic deals when people say there are no deals left on eBay. I have only gotten truly boned one time and it was easy for me to shrug off, knowing it was to be expected. In the meantime, many hundreds have been saved, so if some jackass from Tampa never sent my $12 action figure, big whoop. I have done exactly the same . Bidding on something from a zero feedback(or low) seller you get a big disc. Of course it is more of a risk. I have done this many times After dark you can find some pretty good deals on ebay if you look at the Buy It Now stuff too. I got a decent looking Bachmann HO train set for only $26 and the shipping was free.

Do you have a collecting plan?
frankodragon replied to boxpressed's topic in Classic Console Discussion
DO: Buy the games you intend to play. If you like platformers, adventure, RPG's, ect. then GET IT. If you see an absolute game you gotta have, you better snatch it before some guy who smells like Old Spice with a pony tail decides to sell it on Ebay. And don't wait a day either. It's gonna be GONE if you don't act fast. And you have to defend yourself from him or a kid (or both) following you around in every aisle because he knows he wants that game just as bad as you do. DON'T: Get games that turn you off. If you don't like shooters, then don't get them. If you're at a thrift store, DON'T go around saying "THIS GAME IS RARE!!!! WOOHOO!!!" The sales clerk will catch on, take the game and price it 100x more, or they'll tell you that the game isn't for sale. DON'T bring someone with you who tends to speak first before thinking and has knowledge about rare games. It has happened in the past when the sales clerk overhears about it and they'll lie if you ask them about the game you saw on the shelf. DO: Lets say you found that Holy Grail game at the thrift store for a few bucks. ACT COOL. DO NOT sweat, drool, etc. Act like you're buying a commons. If you get asked at the register what you have, or they say they never seen anything like it before, LIE. Say to them it's an old 8-Track tape. BRING MONEY. Don't even ask for them to hold it for you as they'll get some sort of clue. Get the game and get out as fast as you can. -
What consoles are on your "to-buy-list" or "wish-list"?
frankodragon replied to ham's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If I can find at a thrift store for cheap (I wish!) Astrocade, Emerson Arcadia 2001, Neo Geo AES, maybe anything else that was obscure. -

'Video Magic' Reviews from 1990s-2000s
frankodragon posted a blog entry in Frankodragon's Blog Stuffs
Okay kiddies, you're about to embark some past game reviewing I did for a small catalog titled, "Video Magic." Frank Polosky was the owner/publisher and for a good solid five to six years (maybe more) I wrote reviews on games for credit towards (what else?) games. So without further ado, here are some Blast from the Past reviews: -

What are the best consoles that failed?
frankodragon replied to xDragonWarrior's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The Turbografx -16 would of had a chance to thrive in the states if it weren't for the lack of 3rd party support. Do you think it failed from Nintendo of America's strict licensing policy? Plus many were confused whether it was an 8 or 16-bit machine. The Sega Master System wasn't successful either in the US probably due to NOA's grip on the video game market as well. -
