I know this is kinda getting deep into the weeds, but I really like this device as a potential for capturing truly perfect video output from real hardware, and I've noticed some artifacts that shouldn't be there. Refer to this gallery or the attached image: http://imgur.com/a/5zoAb Whenever two pixels of the same color are diagonal from each other, these artifacts are created. It's *possible* that my capture equipment is to blame (USB3HDCAP), but as far as I know this is a lossless capture of the video being piped to it. Video is set to 4x height and 4x width, to eliminate any odd scaling being the culprit. Latest FW too.

That was me threatening to make that supercut, but I can see why you'd confuse me with the only other person talking about Game King! I will make this video, just waiting for my capture card to arrive (today or tomorrow in the mail).
-
Game King game-beater checking in too. I beat Adventure Legend Carlo, at the end Carlo does a little two frame dance. Game King owns.

Bug Report: Game Gear audio for Terminator 2: Judgement Day is very messed up, it's obvious as soon as the music kicks in on the title screen. I've never played it on real hardware but I'm comparing it to this video:

Your cart adapter could have two slots just like the real one! I actually liked that feature and wished the original DS did it too.

It finishes the "loading rom" dialogue, and never starts the "loading bios" dialogue. It does this with both versions of the BIOS file I've located, and only Gamate does this (though I've not tested Coleco or either GB). I can also force it to load if I change BIOS instead of "reloading" the core. Reset on the controller does nothing when it's in that frozen state. EDIT: Sent you a video

Bug report: Can't load a Gamate game while another Gamate game is running. It shows a loading dialogue and then continues displaying a frame from the previous game. Temp fix: If you go back to the Cores menu and select Gamate, you can load games just fine (without having to re-flash the core). Excitement report: Wheeeee Kev is working on the Mega Duck I sent him, which will finally let me realize my dream of having all of the Taiwanese portable systems in one place. Lol report: The Game King is amazing, I want to record a supercut of all of the game intros.
-
In case anyone was having trouble like I was: Gamate and Gameking games are both included in the "MAME Software List" sets at your ROM dealer of choice.
-
It's not 100% but most of the features are there, the way Aric described it it seems like mostly what's missing is balancing. He's around and happy to talk about it: http://www.wilmunder.com/Arics_World/Games.html

I like how most people in this thread are like "will it do PC Engine/GBA/Other Cool System" whereas I'm sitting here going "WHEN IS THE SUPER VISION CORE COMING OUT??"
-
Were people complaining about the bezel? I thought it was cool. I just played through Sonic Chaos for the first time this morning...never beat it as a kid, instantly beat it today. The crappy GG screen must have been to blame.
-
I can't express how relieved I am to not have to invest in an RGB Game Gear anymore. EDIT: Question for Kev: do you think this might become a ROM dumper for other systems once you start selling those cart connectors?
-
[ignore, I had a bug report but realized I could test more before reporting]

"Classic Game Postmortem" on Youtube
TheRedEye replied to mbd30's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There are way more of these too, I noticed you only listed the arcade and console ones! The one for Loom is a favorite for me. -
The CopyNES feature is awesome. I just dumped a prototype straight onto SD card and then immediately tested it ON THE SAME DEVICE, this is by far the easiest method for dumping NES games now. ...oh and the core is great too.
-
[citation needed] They had nothing to do with that.

Prototypes found in 30 year old storage boxes

I'm more interested in knowing who we lost, do you know the name of the deceased? Looks to be an early game reviewer? -

Redumped that ROM and re-uploaded the set: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k470yf8jjogrsor/JaguarProtos.zip?dl=0 -
Help assembling raw ROM dumps into an emulator image
TheRedEye replied to TheRedEye's topic in Atari Jaguar
Okay I'm back! Here are the raw ROMs, I hope someone can put these together and check against the final versions. https://www.dropbox.com/s/k470yf8jjogrsor/JaguarProtos.zip?dl=0 -
The original ROMs are in the package but we only pull graphical data from them, basically. But yeah, that's more or less correct.
-
They were emulated internally but all the emulator commands were statically recompiled to C. It behaves exactly as an emulator would, but without there being any actual emulation code in the shipped product. We believe emulation is the best approach for republishing NES games, but clients kept telling us that we weren't allowed to emulate a Nintendo system (which is bunk), so we came up with a solution that did the exact same thing but with no "emulation" on the user end.

Help assembling raw ROM dumps into an emulator image
TheRedEye replied to TheRedEye's topic in Atari Jaguar
I'll post the raws in...about a week or so. Sorry, I forgot to get them off of my office computer before I left yesterday, and I'm flying out of town tonight. -
Hey, I was the producer of Legacy Collection. It's not emulation, but it behaves exactly the same as an emulator would. For input lag purposes, you should treat it as if it were emulation.
