  1. Hi all, just a heads up that we're pretty busy in the office right now and it's not a great time to work on the Corvus, but we're committed to helping as best we can. I'll go through these diagnostic steps when we set it back up, but I'll warn you now that we had Curt Vendel on the phone trying to help diagnose this, so I think all the standard troubleshooting has already been covered.
  2. This is in our office in Oakland, CA. If anyone wants to figure out how to recover files off of it, you know where to find me.
  3. I actually didn't have any of these issues before I mailed it, almost all the 7800 games played fine (and I do mean all, I spent at least 5-10 minutes on each game). As I said in my PM, I was using *.a78 ROMs instead of *.bin, maybe that's your issue?
  4. I think I paid $139 at the show, I can't remember though (batari?). I'm not necessarily asking for a straight up trade, just that I'm looking for those two things. Bare console + cart seemed fair to me if anyone happened to have both, but I can meet somewhere in the middle. Mostly I'm just looking to secure a sixer from a trustable community instead of blindly buying on ebay.
  5. I bought a Concerto at PRGE figuring it would be my gateway to revisiting the 2600 and 7800 at the same time, but having had it and a borrowed 7800 in the house for a while, I've come to two conclusions: 1. I can live without the 7800 library, but I'm excited to explore the 2600 2. I like the way 2600 games look on a 2600 better than on a 7800 So while this cart is awesome, I think I'm planning on getting rid of this and instead getting a real Sunnyvale low serial heavy sixer and a Harmony Encore instead. If anyone is voraciously wanting a Concerto and can help me get those things, hit me up.
  6. http://www.lostlevels.org/wordpress/2015/11/13/chips-challenge-for-the-nes/ Figured you Atari fans might appreciate this!
  7. Cool, makes sense. Getting this cart was my excuse to touch a 7800 for the first time since 1988, so I'm catching up.
  8. Possibly dumb question: does Concerto detect a 2600 console and launch in a 2600-only mode?
  9. Yup. I've got one. Nice surprise for me was that the pokey area is socketed, so I don't have to solder one in. ...now I've got to get a 7800 and figure out how to hook it up to my rgb monitor.
  10. Everdrive GB and AGS-101 has made me very happy as well. We've got two of each in the house, and they tend to just show up in random places. With the crazy good battery life, exploring weird old games is always just within reach, and I love it.
  11. I happen to live and make games in the Bay Area, and I happen to have game developer friends who make their living on Patreon because the kinds of things they make have a small audience and aren't commercially viable. It's a great way for artists to make the things they want to make, and for patrons to support the development of things they want to play, and I don't understand why you feel the need to reduce this ecosystem that has nothing to do with you to "begging." I find this post to be ignorant and insulting, and way out of context for this discussion.
  12. Who the heck is going to make software in the year 2015 that only runs on 3DO specs? And how could they support themselves for $5 a game?
  13. Is there enough horsepower under the hood to theoretically run something equivalent to an emulator front-end off of the SD? Maybe even in 1080p?
  14. Pretty sure that second quote is about us (Digital Eclipse/Other Ocean). We never agreed to any kind of partnership, but I wouldn't exactly say this is misleading either, as we told Mike and Steve that we're totally open to providing software support if and when the numbers make sense (aka, we have reason to believe we'll make money). We gave them some ideas for cool things to do and wished them luck, is how I remember it going down. Just wanted to throw that out there because while I think this campaign had a lot of issues, I have never believed Mike to be a scammer or an outright liar, and it's kind of upsetting to see people take that stance.
  15. If you scan this, I'd like to volunteer to do the editing and cleanup. I've been developing my techniques for a few years now, to bring out the original intended colors and restore things to a printable state, and I really like doing it now! Here are some samples of my work: http://gamepreservation.tumblr.com/post/108855176394/gamefan-april-1999-volume-7-issue-4 http://gamepreservation.tumblr.com/post/106965022454/heres-a-rare-promotional-comic-book-for-hudsons http://gamepreservation.tumblr.com/post/96116530994/from-my-personal-collection-its-the-very-first EDIT: btw, here's a conversation Brandon Sheffield and I had with Don Daglow a few years ago about the Intellivision III (mistakenly referred to here as the IV): http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/112971/From_Intellivision_To_Today_Talking_To_Don_Daglow.php He says in here he had suggestions for six titles and they went out and promoted those six, I wouldn't be surprised if the games in this brochure are what he's talking about.
  16. Kev, I meant what I said in that email, I will totally send you my Mega Duck + games if you want to get stupid. Would go great with the A'Can, they're Taiwanese siblings. Question: Are Sega CD and Duo theoretically possible? There's no current disc-less solution for either of those platforms.
  17. Voted "sky's the limit," which has been true for me and your FPGA box for about a decade now. I've often considered asking if you'd slap together a prototype for me on commission! I recommend at least an optional analog out, because competitive/speed run playing of classic games still depends on zero input lag on CRTs. Some of these guys are literally pulling off frame-perfect tricks, which I suspect would be impossible on an HDTV. Plus, I still play on a CRT myself, and my specific use case is that I want to replace original hardware you support with one compact box. Also, in general, I just feel like the more solutions we have for hardware-accurate simulations over true RGB the better. Right now, for example, there is no perfect solution for Game Boy Color over RGB, Game Gear is a pain in the ass, this is probably literally the only time that anyone will ever bother getting the Supervision to run over RGB, etc. Side note: Have you ever thought about making a good RGB to HDMI upscaler? Right now the only viable candidate is the Micomsoft Framemeister at $400-ish, and there is absolutely a demand for a better solution.
  18. Two questions: 1. There are a lot of broken links for Video issues, are those issues missing or are the links just broken? 2. I've got a ton of issues of Games from the late 70s and early 80s that I'd be happy to LOAN (not donate) for scanning, if that's of interest. I just don't have the time to do it myself.
  19. I designed and produced the actual official Sharknado game: http://sharknadogame.com Kinda tempted to make a 2600 label for it now...
  20. It's a weird thing to fake, I believe it. I've come across Gluk games in a flea market, it's not out of the question.
  21. Thanks to Steve Lin for being the world's handsomest game collector (and for generously putting this ROM out for everyone): http://www.lostlevels.org/block-out/
  22. ...or you can skip that website's summary of my article and just read the original http://www.lostlevels.org/hard-drivin/
  23. It's the flyer given out at CES.
