VGA graded games and 3k prices?
TheRedEye replied to Video_Invader's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I don't understand why people collect baseball cards, it's not like the players come out of the picture and play catch with you. -
Whoa, where the heck did this picture come from? That is NOT a cover I've ever seen (and I've had about four copies of issue #1 go through my hands).

I'm personally looking for these. I'll pay, and will scan them if I get them: Electronic Game Player #2 Game Players Nintendo Guide November 1992 Game Players Nintendo Guide/Game Players Nintendo Sega - Most issues from 1993 EDIT: I want to clarify, I am not actively part of a scanning project, but I scan some of the really hard to find stuff once in a while. I'm trying to amass a mostly complete set of this era of magazines, which will live in an archive accessible to researchers eventually (Stanford's the leading candidate right now). These are a few of the ones I'm having a hard time finding.

Atari Brings E.T. Home sticker

Kinda hard to scan a lenticular image guys... -
The unreleased arcade Gremlins was done by Franz Lanzinger. No, he doesn't have anything left of the game, though he once told me he might have some Polaroid photos somewhere. Does anyone know where this video came from originally? Is there a version without the bad metal music and the obtrusive watermark?

Klove (Ken Love, I presume?), just to refresh your memory a little bit, Virgin did put out a version of Aladdin for the NES in Europe. There's a rumor that it was planned for release here as well, but that was never verified (and doesn't seem to have ever been mentioned by the press at the time).

So I hate to be the cynic in this celebration, but I wouldn't depend on Copyright being able to send you anything. I have friends at the LOC and when we've talked about old video game submissions, they've told me that most of that stuff was lost or tossed ages ago. And even if they do still have the Birthday Mania stuff, and IF they manage to find it, keep in mind that a copyright submission for source code only requires the beginning and end: they don't require the entirety of the code, so they might not have ever had it.

It's entirely possible that Virgin was planning a (very, very late) release in North America, but if they were, they never announced it publicly so we may never know.

That rolling demo has the top-down sprites, though some later magazine coverage showed screenshots of the side-view players. Do you remember if the top-down version was just a mockup, or was it ever playable?

Name one. ...besides Grid Grabber, that is, though even that one was dumped (just not distributed). Name one unreleased NES game that has been "lost to time."

On the NES: There's a prototype of Superman from Sunsoft that is a very different game than Superman from Kemco (it ended up becoming Sunman, also unreleased). There was a version of Fun House announced and nearly released that is a different game than the one that came out. There's also a possibility that the version of Nightmare on Elm Street is a different game than the one initially announced. I also know from my own research (don't think this is online anywhere, yet) that a Die Hard game was announced several years before the one that actually came out, I believe it was going to be an NES version of the C64 game.

Incidentally, we got a slightly later build than the one in the cart, you can download it here: http://forums.lostlevels.org/viewtopic.php?t=2722 Looks like Tradewest was considering publishing it.

You're a treasure Ed, thanks for sharing.

Adventure Lords is like the coolest name ever, if you don't use that I'm totally stealing it for something.

Flashcart and Multicart List - All systems
TheRedEye replied to PsychedelicShaman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hey Mark, thanks for voicing your opinions on wanting a GB/GBC solution. I've been waiting for one myself! I don't think it is physically possible to have all three types of ROMs just natively working in one cartridge: if I'm not mistaken, the pins themselves are different on the systems, and the only way a GBA "knows" to go into GBC mode is because of the pins it's making contact with. You'd either have to have two different carts or an adapter like the old Bridge. Personally I think there's more of a need for GB/GBC right now than an all-in-one solution, and I really hope to see one soon. It would be way cool if one could be squeezed into an optional GBA-sized shell too, so we can all walk around carrying nice, flush GBA SPs full of old games. Make it one of the backlit models and you basically have the ultimate Game Boy. -
If you're into that sort of thing. http://www.1up.com/news/bio-force-ape-nes-unreleased-found-preserved

I just got all 14 regular issues in the mail...I am totally incapable of scanning entire issues, but if there are any specific requests I might be able to fill them! Be sure to PM or email me though, as I'm likely to forget about this thread. EDIT: Also very willing to ship these to a reliable scanner, if anyone is up to the task (and can have people here vouch for them).

No problem. I'd post the picture from the auction but I didn't save it...
-
I believe it was just a dump, I don't know if the original cartridge is even in the U.S. (yet). I saw the actual game when the auction was up...it was a weird-looking Famicom dev cart inside a FDS RAM adapter case. Not much to look at really. The cart isn't here yet, I think I mentioned this in the video. It was bought and dumped in Japan and is on its way to me in the mail. It's a very standard FDS RAM adapter case proto, maybe the third or fourth I've seen. I used to have one for V'Ball.

1. Eventually. 2. No.
-
It wasn't really "bashing." People laughed that we paid $2,700 for a one of a kind game, and I pointed out that someone paid way more than that for a box. Also the cart is mine, I paid something like $1,825 of it (it was $2,000 initially but some kind people donated money to me in thanks).
-
No, something like 2.7k monies.
-
Pretty sure Kevtris dumped this, if you want to ask him.
