  1. Hello everyone. I just wanted to share a couple iPhone/iPad releated developments here at Video Game Trader. 1. We just submitted an iPad version of our Price Guide application. Assuming Apple approves it, it will be available at launch for a special price of $0.99. 2. We should have an iPhone/iPad application for the magazine itself by the time Issue #16 ships. 3. We just received the source code from our developer for the Auto update functionality of the price guide app. Once this is tested we will be uploading to Apple. This will allow us to provide quicker pricing updates and will bypass the need to submit upgrades each time we update the prices. Currently the app is priced at $4.99. Once this functionality is uploaded, the price will go to $9.99. If you are on the fence, or have been waiting for this functionality, now might be a good time to jump on board. 4. We also have a FREE version of the application available. The Free version does not have the Have It/Want It functionality, nor will it auto update. Also, the number of platforms in the free version is limited. As always, I appreciate any comments and suggestions in regards to the application.
  2. I have just added two more games to our new online Java Arcade. They are Kaboom! (Atari 2600) and Alien Greed II (Atari 2600). You can visit the arcade here.
  3. I am currently adding Java Atari 2600 games to VideoGameTrader.com but I am looking for a good FLASH emulator for a number of platforms, including the Atari 2600. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I tried various google searches with no luck. Thanks.
  4. I tried to contact the author to license the program, but can't seem to find contact information.
  5. Video Game Trader #15 is finished and being sent off to the printer. This is our BIGGEST issue yet. A whopping 56 pages! I have linked to a 10-page PDF preview (it's too big to fit here). Click Here to get it! Also, this is the last change to pre-order issue #15 (You can do so HERE). The pre-order link will be removed from the site in the next few days. Please note that the pre-order price is still $5.99, even though the cover price has gone up to $6.99. And that includes shipping! Issue #15 will also be available in the Atari Age store in limited quantities. We will have an electronic edition available at both Wowio.com and Zinio.com. Your comments and critique and both welcome and appreciated. And before anyone screams... the Stadium Events price was published BEFORE that $13,000 auction closed so it's not updated On behalf of the entire Video Game Trader staff, THANKS FOR READING! Tom Sansone
  6. You will also have Video Game Trader #15 once it gets printed (which should be within the next 2-3 weeks). Tom
  7. This looks interesting. Although it looks like it's not compatible with GBA, only GB and GBC. They also have a GBA SP clone as well. I'm going to look into getting a few of these to review. Tom
  8. A free version of our price guide for the iphone is now available. Please check it out by going to VideoGameTrader.com or searching the itunes app store for "Video Game Price Guide". The free version does not have the have/want checklist functionality and only lists a few systems. Thanks, Tom
  9. Just a quick update to let you all know that I am placing some Atari 2600 games up at the site for play within your browser. Currently we have Lady Bug up and running. If this turns out to be popular I would like to place all the games I can on the site. Some wont be listed for legal reasons, but anything that appears to be public will be listed. If any homebrew developers would like me to place there games up on the site for users to preview, just let me know. Also, if anyone knows anyone that is capable of writing an iPhone app to play Atari 2600 roms files, please let me know. Thanks, Tom http://www.videogametrader.com

  11. Hello everyone. The iphone video game price guide version 2.2 has been uploaded to apple and is awaiting approval. This version updates the prices and also adds some more classic systems, like the Adventure Vision and Astrocade. But.. my question is this, and please respond so that we an make the iphone app better for everyone. A) Would you prefer an all inclusive application (as it is now) that includes prices for every system contained in one application and would be priced at about $9.99 (with future updates free) or B) Would you prefer individual appliations for each system? These individual appliations would contain more features, such as screenshots, cover artwork, instructions on how to play a game, hints, cheats, etc. These would be priced $0.99 to $9.99 depending on the complexity of the console. Thanks for your time.
  12. That is a good suggestion and is in the works. I am thinking of maybe using some kind of color coding for the rarity information or maybe a toggle switch that can toggle between rarity and prices.

In the meantime, we have frozen the price at $4.99 If there are any programmers out that that program for the Blackberry or Google Phones, please contact me. Here is what people say about the app: See what people are saying about the app and find out why it has a 4 star rating in iTunes! Visit the app store today!
  14. I don't endorce softmodding your Wii since you can brick it, however, if you have a PC you can get a free download of Console Classix. This will allow you to play game via emulation on your PC. Its a great service. If your TV has a VGA connection you can hook up your TV to your computer. The emulators work with game pads as well. You can read more about Console Classix here --> http://www.videogametrader.com/play-classic-video-games-free/
  15. As Video Game Trader magazine and videogametrader.com look ahead into 2010, we would like to improve the website and create a blog that truly is a companion to the magazine. To that end, we are looking for writers and volunteers who would be willing to post at least once per week. In exchange, you will be provided a complimentary subscription to the magazine and will receive the iPhone/iPod Touch application free of charge, after your 4th post. As the site grows, we are looking for pay writers of both the blog and the magazine. As always, we do accept submissions to the magazine as well. Please contact me directly at [email protected] if you are interested, and let me know what you would like to write about. I would also like to thank the community for your continued support.

  17. I understand your concerns. I am looking at attacking this one of a few ways. Either I can list all those variations without prices, or I can add a notes section. I am also thinking of adding a "suggestion" button in the app allowing people to send us requests for items to be included. Any of these updates a while away though. Thanks, Tom PS. Oh, I will check on the missing game.
  18. I believe we covered every system that was cartridge based. Are we missing any that you feel should be included?
  19. I've updated the Video Game Odyssey Awards website with some rules and categories. Soon Homebrew authors will be able to nominate their games. http://www.odysseyawards.com/ Comments are welcome.
  20. Hello, Just want to let you know that I have this item up on eBay, in case anyone is looking for it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110445204117 Thanks, Tom
  21. Lets hope you are not using the same printer I was using. I had used the same printer for 5 consecutive issues without a problem. Then on the 6th order not only was I short pages, but I was also short over 100 copies of the magazine. And all they would do is give me a credit on the next order. I changed printers after that. Good Luck and congratulations on issue #2. Thomas Sansone VideoGameTrader.com
  22. I am glad you like the iphone app. The next update is currently uploaded and waiting for approval. The new update adds "wish list" and "have it" functionality. Thanks, Tom
  23. Hello everyone, Issue #14 of Video Game Trader is 99% complete. The only thing left to do is some proofreading. In order to wet your appetites for this issue, I am posting a PDF preview. Please feel free to leave your comments. Because of the size of the file. I could not upload it. But the link is here
  24. Hello everyone, It has been an exciting year over here at Video Game Trader. We changed format to 8.5 x 11 and launched an iPhone Price Guide Application. I am very happy to see the growth we have experienced over the last year. VGTrader is a passion of mine and I am grateful to the classic community for embracing it. As we add systems to our price guide, I would like to ask the community which systems they want next. Our goal is to add a new systems to the magazine and iphone price guide at least every issue. Please vote on what system we should add next. If we left out your favorite system, please let us know.
  25. I just wanted to post an update and let everyone know that the next major update is only weeks away. The current price of the app is $1.99 and the price will increase to $2.99 once this next update is released. We are steadily increasing the price until we find a price point that works. The iPhone is a great platform but it is new. This application has been very popular and I thank you all. The next update will contain a couple key features. 1. It will auto update price once daily from an internet connection. This will allow us to post more frequent pricing updates and will allow us to provide updates to one platform on one day and updates to another the next. 2. We are including our most asked for update. Want/Have list functionality. You will be able to make what you currently have in your collection and what you want. You can then only display the items you either have or want when you are looking at the list. This will be very handy when you are at game shows or thrift shopping. 3. 3DO will be added as well as the more currently platforms. By the end of the year, every major game platform, including current generation, will be included. Some of the functionality requested in the post, by Triverse and others, is being considered. One thing on my priority list is to add the ability to search Chasethechuckwagon.com for auctions. I am working with Chase and would love to add other functionality. I think his game auction site is great. I am also looking to produce a FREE version of the app which would be extremely limited in functionality. I would love to make this available on other platforms but my developer only programs for the iphone. Any programeers out there that want to work out some kind of co-op venture to port this to other devices? PM me. Thanks again. Tom
