  1. Not sure if any of you have begged your K-Marts and Walmarts for one of these displays yet, but you should. You can just buy the remaining cars and ask if you could also have the display. That is what we did and it worked. Otherwise, wait until they are almost empty and talk to a store manager to get it when they are done with it.

It can store up to 60 boxed Atari games! See pic:

  3. Nice, where did you pick that up?

On that OTHER auction site :) I had to drop $450 for it but you don't see these come around to often. Seems about the going rate from what I've learned. It was an original owner robot, no yellowing and it had the Atari/Commodore software too. According to the original owner, used once and put in storage until now.

  4. I've been looking for one of these FOREVER to add to my collection! Anyone else have or used one of these before? All I know it will be a great decoration to my home arcade, but I will be hooking it up to my C64 too!

  5. Hey Everyone,

GameGavel is proud to be helping friends and family of nightmare Tony, who passed away earlier this month from cancer. There will be some very rare and interesting items donated to these auctions throughout this week. All the money raised from these auctions will be donated to the American Cancer Society in Tony's name.

Here is the tribute story and links to the Tony-A-Thon auction listings:

    http://www.gamegavel.com/reviews/2012/12/04/romstar-snk-veteran-passes-away-charity-auctions/

Keep an eye out this week as more items get added. Thank you,

    Mike, GG

  6. Congrats to all involved. I am just glad GameGavel was apart of such a great auction. The coolest thing about this is I will probably see Jose at SC3 in a next weekend (and yes, you better bring this Air Raid to the party to show everyone) and Tricia and I are going to have dinner with Harve and Alana in a couple weeks and toast the sale. This was a tense couple of weeks but it's just as much about the people you meet in this crazy hobby as the item's themselves. I hope we can all find out the true history behind this game in the mean time. Aweome! Just awesome!

  7. eBay doesn't even show user names of bidders anymore. It's all kept private so you don't know who wins an item. I guess you could see it through the feedback page, though.

There are too many people who know the big collector's ebay handles for that to happen.

Congrats Rick! Doesnt leave much for you to have to collect now! With two Air Raid carts you can now play the game in stereo

  8. We did remove all the highest bidders bids above the 2nd and 3rd place bidders. Rick63's high bid at the time was $15,750 so we are just $300 over that with the current bids in place.

Shouldn't all his bids be removed then? I know they don't matter at the moment, but you never know. eBay is very bad in those situations because when someone retracts his highest bid, all the others stay in and the auction ends on the second highest bidder. This means that even though the previous high bidder doesn't want the item, he still forces the other people to pay his second bid price... That is not so in this case, but still he remains in there with a few bids.

  9. The press continues. I just saw another huge traffic spike on GameGavel tonight and discovered where everyone was coming from. So far over 21,000 views for the Air Raid auction on GG. Lots more to come now that IGN has picked it up.

Keep on the look out for a couple more very rare and desirable items, one of them for Atari collectors and one for Nintendo collectors, hitting GameGavel later this week!

  10. The current top two bidders have both been members since 2008/2009 even though they have had no transactions. They didn't just sign up to bid on this auction. And we have verified them. A few of the others are members here. We are watching the bidding and bidders closely, I can assure you all :)

They are probably just paranoid about a stranger coming over. I believe it is real. I'm more concerned about if the bids are real.
