  3. Ya, i recently picked one up new in box and i love it. I dont remember these back in the day at all.
  4. I appreciate that you disclose this information, and you can certainly use GG to build your own collection, but your involvement in auctions might be seen as a potential conflict of interest. From my previous post, you can see in the parenthetical that I note the reserve issue, but had you not bid on this Lochjaw cart, perhaps atari181's bid would not have been anywhere near the $300 reserve. Okay, so GG is not making a penny directly from this sale (as you note in post #32), but the perception that GG auctions sell has an indirect benefit, does it not? So, it is in your interest to have auctions that resolve themselves to the satisfaction of their sellers so that you can attract more business. As I said previously, I've used GG sporadically in the past, but if I have the choice between eBay, GG, or a direct private sale, GG will likely be my third option in most cases. Fair enough. It is my goal to continue building this so it is everyone's first choice some day
  5. Hi Zwack, I created GG as a site I could use as well. I am an honest person and have a good reputation to uphold being owner of the site and part trio of one of the most downloaded classic gaming podcasts on the net. I do what ever I can to help out our sellers and if I have a choice of buying something from someone on eBay or on my site, I am sorry, but I will choose to buy from the seller on my site every time. Perhaps. But if you hadn't increased the bid to $300, maybe it would have sold for less (or not, depending on the reserve price). While I have bought and sold a few things on GG, I am less inclined to do so with your personal bidding activity.
  6. I use the site myself, and have always been very open about it. I will genuinely bid on something if I want it, but I never use my position to take advantage of anyone using the site in any way and I think after 3 years of running this people would have said something if they thought I was. I would have paid up to $300 for LJ and I am a well known collector myself, and that is that. He had a $300 reserve on it anyway, so my bid simply turned it into a starting bid. It wouldn't have sold for less than $300 in any case. If I had won it for $300 than I would have GLADLY paid $300 for it and added it to my collection. And I was very open about being one of the bidders from the start of this thread. I agree, it's like a company sponsored shill bid.
  7. Considering he didn't pay eBay 9%+ or around $30 it sold in the window it should have and I think he did well. There were 700 views before it ended and obviosuly the largest market for this game was right here in this forum. So based on that, I think the accurate value for a loose LJ is right around $300. Here is a list of sold items on GG - http://www.gamegavel...=&sort_by=price All this stuff was sold and I didn't get a dime for any of it. I am trying to do right by the 6000+ people who have signed up to this point. And trying to keep growing this despite some of the negativity spewed in this forum, which I have been doing my best to support, buying home brews, plugging new home brews on my podcast, RetroGamingRoundup, etc. I will support anyone trying to better this hobby.
  8. We will be modifying our homepage to also show recently sold items to help show items do sell on GameGavel. Mainly because the homepage now just shows random listings which make it look like not much is going on. I think having an area show recently sold items from both Buy Now and Auctions will help potray more activity than what is currently shown on the hompage. Here is a link showing sold items which we will be integrating into the homepage in the coming days. http://www.gamegavel.com/display.cgi?categories=all&seller=all&search=1&searchtext=&item_type=&by_start_price=&type=&time=closed&EVENT_ID=&sort_by=price
  9. Nothing to be sorry about. If he really wanted to bid he could. Sorry 'bout that.
  10. Ya, our system only shows views not uniques. Either way it seems like $300-$400 is about the normal selling price at auction, is it not? As I told Richard, I would start the bidding off at $300 and I did. That is as high as I will go for it so you all know what needs to be done to outbid me I do want it but I can't go any higher than that. If any of you want it, here is your chance The reason the one on Ebay only has triple the traffic the one on GG does is cause of the set $999.99 price tag. Not very many people seriously intrested in buying a copy of Lochjaw are gonna even click on such an overpriced set listing. But triple the traffic with a price that no one is likely to pay really says something. Out of curiousity how many of the 500 views on that Lochjaw are unique? Be intresting to know.
  11. Richard's auction has over 500 views on GG since he started it. Compared to around 1500 views for the one on eBay that has been up for a lot longer, says it was last updated in May of 2011. Chances are the winning bidder for an item like this will be right here in these forums anyway. And he is not paying a penny to list or sell it Historically, rare items have been selling just fine on GG. If any of you have rare items, give it a try. I won't charge you anything.

  15. Just got this in the mail today and I was completely blown away. This is without a doubt the BEST game you can get for this system! Check it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BX2CtSTRBQ
  16. As I indicated in his earlier thread, I would start the bidding off at $300. This is what I would pay for it at this point. So I threw a bid in myself. That is all that happened. The question was, should he relist it with a shorter time period or leave it as is? I am cool either way. I suggested he run a private auction only because others here have done that on higher price items.
  17. Ya, I PM'd him asking him to consider ending it early after messaging the bidders and relist it for a 7-10 listing. But kind of iffy now there are bids. Are the other current bidders here on AA? If so, it would probably be ok to end it then and relist as I am sure they would understand.
  18. Ya, I have owned the cocktail arcade version and really liked it. The Atari 2600 version does work surprisingly well with the single joystick though.
  19. What's the story on this stuff? Thought someone here might want all of this. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/sys/2783292542.html
  20. So went to the So Cal swaps a few weeks ago and picked up a small Atari lot with Atari 2600 Jr. system and a handful of games. I guess I paid no attention to the games as I was mainly interested in the Jr. So I paid my $14 to the guy and walked off with the system and games. Got them home and left them in their bag until a week went by and then I went and opened the bag to pull everything out, clean it off, sell some of it and keep some of it. That is when I noticed one of the games was a Crazy Climber. I was totally stunned and totally surprised. I wondered how I could have missed it but usually silver label games are pretty common, so I just paid no attention. So I played Crazy Climber for the first time on the 2600 a few days ago when I found it. Wow! What a great conversion of this game. I am addicted to it and almost like playing it more than the original arcade. Anyone else here think it was a great port?
  21. Big Game Hunter - Episode #22 It's funny, while preparing this show and also taking photos of some of the items to put of for auction on GameGavel, I opened the bag including the Atari Jr. lot shown in this show and discovered one of the silver label games that was included was Crazy Climber. I totally missed it while picking the items up off the table and buying them. I discovered a week later that I had in fact scored a CC in the wild. What a great suprise! Enjoy!
