  1. Yesterday I had a good Atari find. Not a record one, but since I almost never see Atari in the wild, it's a good one. I found 2600 six switch, power pack, 2 original controllers, 2 sets of paddles, and 11 common games at my local GW for $8.00. Hooray!!! Question: I know the original six switch "Heavy Sixer" was made in Sunnyvale, Cal. The one I found was made in Taiwan, so I figured it wasn't one. However I noticed it was heavier than normal. I opened it up and it did have the metal shielding and was manufactured on 9/26/80. My question is has anyone seen this before? I thought after they moved the manufacturing to Taiwan they removed the shielding? Anyone know approximately when they moved to Taiwan? Problem: Last night I decided to try out my new paddles and play a game of Kaboom, however when I start the game the button works but the paddles will not move the buckets back and forth. All the paddles work fine on my 4 switch. All the controller games work perfect so I know the controller port is ok. Is there any compatibility problem with Kaboom and the six switch?

  3. The carts are probably just dirty. Try cleaning them. Cleaning a cart will make it work again 95% of the time. Since they have no moving parts, they are quite tough to destroy. to clean a cart, get some rubbing alcohol (the higher the purity the better, try to get 90% or higher) and some q-tips. Take the q-tip and dip it into the alcohol. Then take the moistened q-tip and rub along both sides of the chip sticking out of the bottom of the cart. Then take the dry side of the q-tip and rub it over the same area, drying the cart. Now try and play game again. For more info check out here http://tomheroes.com/Video%20Games%20FS/collecti.htm
  4. I recently tried one of these out. I think its ok, but its off a little bit. The sounds and some of the graphics are off. I think they should have taken more time on this. I also can't figure out why the RCA jacks on the TV make everything too light to see, but if you plug it into a VCR everything looks fine. I think I'll pass on getting one. 5. Boy I wish I had seen that auction. I'm in Ohio and Lorain isn't that far from me!! Man that would be an excellent addition to any Atari collection.

I have been watching this topic. I have a 4 switch DV with the same problem. How do I adjust the coil pot on the RF? What should I look for and how do I do this?
  7. I am looking for a working 7800 console. All I want is a console. I already have a power supply, 2600 controlers and games. I just need a working console and I don't want to pay the high prices on ebay. If anyone has one they are willing to sell, email me with your price and maybe we can work something out. john_drzal@natcity.com
  8. I just dusted off my Nes. Anyone know of a good source of Game Genie codes? I know there was one on the web somewhere but I can't find it now.

  10. I'll have to check that one out!!

    5200 River Raid

Cafeman, You convinced me. I will put it on my list. It looks like we have the same tastes. Are there any other games that you think are must haves? I guess I should read more of your reviews. [ 11-06-2001: Message edited by: J-DEE ]
  14. I was thinking of getting River raid for the 5200. Is the 5200 version really that different than the 2600 version? Are there many 5200 games which are similar to their 2600 counterparts?
  15. I just got a 5200. However I have no games for it. What are the best games for the 5200? What games are not worth the trouble getting?
  16. Cafeman, Thanks, lots of good info on your site. Now I just need to pick up some games.
  17. Which Abbey Ann's Secondhand store is the best for Atari stuff?
  18. I second that!! I really enjoyed your post!!
  19. Depending on where you are sending it to it can take 2 to 3 weeks to get there. Media rate is very slow!!
  20. I just saw a Gas Hog with the box and instructions on ebay!! [ 08-30-2001: Message edited by: J-DEE ]
  21. What are the output rating on a 5200 power adapter. I was thinking of tring my NES power adapter to see if the 5200 even works? Has anyone tried this?
  22. Crossbow, How do you hardwire a 2600 power adaptor to a 7800? Have you done this? How much work is involved?
  23. Cool, thanks Crossbow!!! I'll have to give that a try.
